I've commented on this before, but after seeing that 4 way last night, where everyone had on black tights, it has to be said. The number of wrestlers wearing black (or black with other dark colors like Judgement Day) is just absurd now. This isnt just a WWE problem, AEW has the same issue. I'm not saying everyone should run around in bright colors, but at least have some varierty. Seeing guys just wear black makes everyone look bland, at least Cody has his Red, White, and Blue tights, and there's still more colorful tights in the women's divisions (though Skye Blue wearing black is just absurd given the name of her character).

(Copied from the WON HOF 2023 thread) Why the United States is automatically ASSUMED to always have been the Big Time worldwide capital of professional wrestling. Is it just patriotism/chauvinism on the part of American wrestling fans? Obviously nowadays WWE is the biggest wrestling company on the planet and it's American so that much is understandable. In the 1960s there was a good case to be made that European wrestling was as big if not bigger a business than American wrestling. Both British and French wrestling had prestigious mainstream national TV slots that would have been the envy of any individual US or Canadian territory between 1955 (closure of DuMo…

Sad news. Only 56. I always liked his team, Fire and Ice, with Scott Norton. DDP broke the news on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialddp/posts/926184742208798

Here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BHbVIIaR0yY4AIQJ5HsZTnhqQFpLcq6Cct5j9FcqU8I/edit?usp=sharing It became a massive pain in the ass to post and update the list on the board due to weird glitches, so I've made a shareable Google Doc which has all of the following: - Every WON ****+ rated match ever, updated weekly - Every DVDVR Best of the '80s List - Every DVDVR Best of the '90s List - Every DVDVR Puro MOTY List, 2000-2012 - Every VOW MOTY List, 2012-present - Every Alan4L MOTY List, 2007-present - The Ditch Best AJPW of the '90s List - Notable '00s Matches that were missed Between all of that, it's basically a list of every good wrestling…

After finishing the Netflix docuseries Wrestlers I've started watching OVW on their YouTube channel and I'm enjoying it so far. True it's a little weird to see Jesse Godderz and Mahabali Shera are treated as serious contenders but the matches are solid and there's some fun characters there. My favorites are the faction The Fallen, an occult gimmick as subtle as Kevin Sullivan and Ryan Von Rockit mainly for his theme the two "groupies" that accompany him too the ring. Anybody else been checking them out lately?

I've just received my ballot so, it begins: This is our ballot for the 2023 Hall of Fame. This ballot is being sent out to major wrestling stars, past and present, major management figures in the industry, writers and historians. If you are getting this, you are being asked your opinion on who should be inducted into this year's Hall of Fame class. The criteria for the Hall of Fame is a combination of drawing power, being a great in-ring performer or excelling in ones field in pro wrestling, as well as having historical significance in a positive manner. A candidate should either have something to offer in all three categories, or be someone so outstanding in on…

Recently, I caught wind that Lil Uzi Vert's latest release, Pink Tape, features a song entitled "Nakamura" that is dedicated to the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura. I checked out the lyrics and there really isn't any reference to professional wrestling aside Uzi declaring himself, "the king of the ring". Then you have Travis Scott referring to himself as Cactus Jack and Drake photographed in a Razor Ramon shirt. Snoop enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. The recent success of Bad Bunny. This got me thinking about how pro wrestling friendly rap has always been dating back to Run DMC's appearance at WrestleMania 5 (and later on remixing DX's theme). From Master P, to …

I think we can all agree that Chikara was one of the most unique wrestling companies in American wrestling history. From it's colorful characters to storylines which could last years, it certainly wasn't like anything else in Indy scene in the 2000s and 2010s. I've never seen a full card but the more I research it, the more fascinating I find it. For those of you who did see it, what did you think? What did you like? What would you have done differently? And what did you think when its doors closed in 2020?

NWA Power is tonight. I'm excited for it & will be watching it when it premiers but I don't think it's worthy of its own thread. Just don't think there would be enough replies/interest. But I wanted to post here to remind people in case they forgot or didn't know about it.

Spoiler KeMonito out of CMLL The original KeMonito has indeed left CMLL, and it’s a bad breakup. An article in InfoPolitano on Thursday (which appears to actually be a KeMonito press release) explains his side of the story. KeMonito worked as Tinieblas’ mascot Alushe prior to 2002, they had a falling out, and Paco Alonso brought him to CMLL under the mascot character. Alfonso Morales named him on commentary, and it was working with Shocker that first really got him over. KeMonito claims he’s wanted to retire for many years, but was convinced by Salvador Lutteroth and his daughter Gala to continue. Then, the pandemic happened, and KeMonito says he was…

It's September 1986, let's pretend you have a magic box that can pipe in TV from anywhere in the USA. I want to take a look at what an average week in wrestling on television would look like complete with the main commentary teams and on which channel they aired. Nothing like this exists online, so eventually, I want to do this for every year - if we're able to make this as complete as possible I might even stick it up on a website somewhere. I've made a start, help me flesh this out. I've been using this site, this site, this site and of course History of the WWE. Any help to fill in gaps, glaring omissions, correct mistakes etc. would be much appreciated. Monday…

He was 84, which is a bit surprising because that means he was only in his 40s when he was in the AWA and he looked ancient then. He also went to high school with Saddam Hussein, which is one of my all-time favorite pieces of wrestling trivia.

I asked this on another board, but might get more responses here: Who are some wrestlers who only had one match in a certain promotion? I'm counting actual wrestlers, no non-wrestlers like Gene Okerlund or Jay Leno. I'll start,Jim Neidhart's one match against Jay Lethal in TNA.

Terry Funk has passed away according to Ric Flair (at least he was the first I saw of it). If true, RIP to a true legend and one of a kind figure in wrestling.

I'm surprised we haven't done a major thread on this already, but it's certainly something that has been important over the years to the product, of most any company. So, what's the best/worst song or piece of music you can think of that someone has ever used?

With Cole/MJF taking off recently as a successful duo, I've been thinking about odd couple tag teams that have gotten over and won championships. WWE obviously loves this trope. Recently, we've had RK-Bro, Asuka and Alexa Bliss. Kane managed to pull off a hat trick with Danielson, the Hurricane and X-Pac. Tajiri did it twice by winning tag team gold with Regal and Mikey Whipwreck. The Rock 'n Sock Connection is the most famous example. There's Owen and Yoko. Austin and Angle had that energy but unfortunately didn't actually tag together. Tony Khan has proven something of a knack for this, although not necessarily in tags, with Daddy Ass and the Acclaimed, Adam Page …

Regarding the usage of the bloodline angle and melodrama in wrestling, opinions can vary greatly. Some people appreciate the emotional depth and storytelling it adds to the matches, while others may find it excessive or distracting. It all boils down to how people view melodrama, wheater the usage is good or bad. An example that demonstrates the effectiveness of melodrama in wrestling is the match between Masahiro Chono and Daichi Hashimoto on 3/6/11. Toward the end of the match, Chono is on the verge of defeating Hashimoto with the STF submission hold. However, he hesitates and wears a sad expression, almost on the verge of tears, as he locks in the hold. This mome…
