Every single mention of him on the WWE website, including as a hall of famer has been taken off WWE.com, taken off Tough Enough, taken off everything completely. Apparently the National Enquirer has footage of him going on a massive racist rant which "He can't come back from" So yeah, he's done. And even more annoyingly I can't wear any of my several Hogan shirts again.

So for this week's podcast we're looking at the Best Build-Ups in Wrestling History, and would like to get some feedback on which ones really struck a chord with you and why. The only criteria is that it can apply to a show, a match or a debut, but essentially it's simple - which hype jobs were the best ones you ever saw and truly worked to get you more excited to see something than you've ever been otherwise for wrestling? The more explanation on why you loved the build, the better. As always, we'll be reading the best contributions on the show and crediting you accordingly, so what do you think? EDIT - The show discussing your candidates for Best Build-Ups i…

An ongoing project of mine forced me to watch all 2002 TNA PPV’s so my punishment is your “gain?” I thought I’d offer this review to help in the worst of all-time argument of TNA v. UWF. I’ll start with a few quick facts, and then go into each of the title feuds for the year. Most importantly, the last section will list all of the complete stupidity that comprised the year, ranging from minor annoyances to “WTF were they thinking?” Enjoy. Quick Facts • TNA’s first PPV was June 19th in Huntsville, Alabama at the Von Braun Civic Center • TNA ran 25 PPV’s during 2002, 23 were live while two were taped (Week 2 & Week 11) • All but the first 4 shows …

Fuck it! It may happen, it may not. But if it does, how will they characterise Cena so the majority of the audience that are booing how now don't start cheering him? How would you change the character that Cena plays to reflect his new "evil" alignment?

This sounds like kind of a downer topic, but I think it has the potential to be fun. I think it could be argued that each major company has their own personal brand of bad. Bad ROH doesn't look like bad WWE, and bad WWE doesn't look like bad WCW most of the time. I thought it would be fun to talk about not just what bad wrestling looks like in each group, but what bad traits are unique to each group. There are some things that are universally bad: - Bad matches - Bad interviews - Bad finishes But then there are more specific mistakes which I think are often unique to a company. For example, how would each of the big companies misuse Cesaro? We know how …

Yohei Komatsu vs Sho Tanaka This is a great opener. These guys really do think of one. All of their stuff looks good, and worked at a good pace. They get a lot of mileage out of basic stuff. From just arm wringer reversals to the Boston Crab and 1/2 crabs. 3 1/4* Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask vs Jay White & David Finlay Liger is great right off the bat working the mat. Tiger gets a little shine, but eventually subcumbs . The Lions do a good job working over his leg. The dojo time has helped Finlay. Hot tag to Liger. Liger has so much offense that is over, that his hot tag gets over very easily. He gets cut off so he tags out to Tiger. I reall…

In the Vince's document on announcers a discussion was made about WrestleMania main event being more important than the title. The question remains, can the title ever be the most important thing in modern wrestling? No company has it that way (even NJPW and ROH). Are fans too cynical or know too much? I still think it can work, although it would take a rebuilding time and some effort.

Nowadays everything is filmed it seems and it's always old footage being unearthed. I keep a want list and just added Joe-Kidd to it, but noticed the list is almost entirely all pre-2000 and nothing from the last 15 years except for... Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H (WWE South Dakota 9-6-02) ECW Arena Show (WWE Philadelphia 6-24-06) What other notable stuff has been talked up during this time? HHH-Tajiri from Japan was one but a handheld surfaced. There were some Eddy/Rey vs. MNM long 45-min matches I remember hearing about as well.

Oddly enough during early July we will have two lucha libre shows in central London - two of them head to head. Show #1: July 11 - Lucha Libre in the Royal Albert Hall. I saw an ad for this at a Mexican restaurant and seeing that they were billing Blue Demon Jr. in the main event as well as the price (it's the Royal Albert Hall... I imagined not cheap) I was going to skip it, however it looks like it may be a tremendous show. Copied from the press release: Fifteen of the sixteen luchadores are announced: Blue Demon Jr., La Parka , Psyco Clown, Villano 4, Hijo Del Fantasma, Pentagon, Fenix, Texano Jr., Blue Demoncito Jr., Mini Histeria, Octagoncito, Mini Abismo N…

Over the past couple of years, I've become increasingly fascinated with Vince Sr's formula booking and with the way he was able to keep such a large area selling out shows consistently for so long while keeping things kinda lukewarm and with a lot of sub-par talent on his roster. There was an old-school mentality that you shouldn't let a territory become too hot or else business might drop off once it cooled down. Vince Sr was a master at controlling the "hotness level" of the promotion at any given time. When things needed something, he might throw in a storyline -- which seem to have been expertly done -- but if things were doing alright, he'd mostly let things rem…

Full schedule from VOW: http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2015/07/06/njpw-g1-climax-25-full-tournament-schedule/ How do people see this turning out? B Block looks set to come down to Okada vs. Nakamura on the final day. Nakamura either goes over or wins it with a draw and goes on to win the finals and set up a title match vs. Okada at WK 10, which feels like the biggest main event they could deliver for the show at this point. What about A Block? Styles vs. Nakamura would be a fresh match we haven't seen yet, but if he's not committed for 2016 then giving AJ that rub is unnecessary. It feels way too soon to rush Naito back to that level with his new heel charac…

I was on thehistoryofwwe.com and came across the card for the very first wrestling show I attended. The one and only time the WWF/E has ever put on a show in Brockville. WWF @ Brockville, Ontario - Memorial Centre - May 26, 1993 Tatanka defeated Razor Ramon Doink the Clown defeated Crush Owen Hart defeated Terry Taylor The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez WWF Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & IRS defeated Rick & Scott Steiner I actually remember a lot of this. Giant Gonzalez was huge in person. Looking back, this show isn't so bad actually. What do you guys have as your first?

So it's a given that any kind of match is a pretty physically intensive situation, in terms of strength, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, etc, etc, it's going to require quite a bit of food energy. Add to this the majority of modern professional wrestlers are pretty big for the most part. That size along and maintaining it will require a lot of calories, even more when you factor in the training that goes into sculpting that body. All too often you hear about guys struggling to eat well on the road. Does anybody have any ideas what exactly, and just how much (Big Show's food bill...) these guys eat on a day to day basis? I know a lot of the older guys…

KarlPG and I were talking earlier on twitter regarding match ratings, and an interesting point came up: I've been at shows live and rated a match quite highly (lets say ****1/2) for example, I've then re-watched the match when it's been released on VOD/DVD and rated the match at ***3/4. Which rating is more valid? The one where I am in the building, feeling the heat and being caught up in the emotion; or the one where I am at home, being more clinical in my evaluation of the match? Like to hear others opinions on this.

Has anyone else tried this? I signed up for a free month and loaded it up with wrestling books. Several of them are available through this service. You can check out ten books at a time and keep them for as long as you want. When you're done, return one and add another. There is a ton of rubbish - and searching for wrestling books in Kindle Unlimited, funnily enough, also gives you listings for gay erotica (lol). But there are enough good wrestling books to make a free month worthwhile. What I've found so far: Hacksaw: The Jim Duggan Story Dusty: Reflections of Wrestling's American Dream Hart Strings (Julie Hart) Black Bart & Me And a Few Other Wrestli…

Was watching some more Volk Han today, and that got me to thinking of the general notion most people put forth of, "He/she has only been wrestling a year, give them a break" Not saying I disagree with that sentiment, but there are exceptions and that's what I'm interested in. What wrestlers do you think got it right out of the gate and were basically top notch workers right away? On Twitter we were bantering a but about this and so far we came up with Volk Han, Bryan Danielson, and Jun Akiyama. Any others anyone can think of? P.S.: Since this is me you know I'm only referring to in-ring work with this question. Volk Han Jun Akiyama Bryan Danielson Bam Bam Bigel…

I’m going to tomorrow’s show. Predictions: Briscoe vs. Lethal [Title vs. Title]: I don’t get why they’re doing this match. If Briscoe wins, you’ve made your top heel look bad. Regardless of who wins, you’re losing your secondary champion until the point at which the winner drops one of the belts. It's not a unification, so I could it see it being a deal where Moose/Elgin/Strong soon beats whoever walks out of this World champ. Which further begs the question of why they’re doing it. For that reason I suspect they’ll do some weird finish. Maybe even a time limit draw. But just to pick someone, I’ll say that Lethal cheats to win both titles, but is beaten by Moose soon. Th…

So I thought it would be kind of cool to get an idea of the differences in travel times between the various promotions during the territory era. The only territory loops that I'm totally sure of though would be the Memphis loop which didn't vary too much outside of Thursday spot shows. So for the Memphis loop it went: Monday: Memphis, TN Tuesday: Louisville, KY (6 hours, 30 miles from Memphis) Wednesday: Evansville, IN (2 hours, 120 miles from Louisville) Thursday: Spot show (for the purpose of this exercise I used Blytheville, AR) (2 hours, 250 miles from Evansville) Friday:Tupelo, MS (3 hours, 180 miles from Tupelo) Saturday: Memphis TV in the morning & Nas…

Figured I would post this here as I know there are some Lucha buffs here who may be able to help... For years I have read and see it posted everywhere that Eddy Guerrero made his debut in September of 1987. In fact many have labelled the September 18, 1987 match at EMLL's 54th Anniversary where he teamed with El Hijo del Santo to beat El Dandy & El Hijo del Gladiador as his debut. The date is correct but Eddy Guerrero did not debut on this event, nor was it Guerrero's debut as a professional wrestler take place on this card. He actually debuted in Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua Mexico wrestling on one of his fathers cards but I have not found the exact date of it yet. I…
