Just posting here to make sure everyone sees this. The board will not be accessible during the upgrade, but should be back up and running - with new software - in the morning.

I'm terribly in the bubble. I know about here, DVDVR, WKO, Wrestling Classics, Kayfabe Memories and the F4W board, but that's about it. What other boards are out there that get a reasonable amount of traffic that you are aware of? I'm setting aside issues of quality for now and just trying to get a handle on what else exists.

My head is spinning. Some rumours confirmed, some not or just a very elaborate work.

Wow, this is a bit under the radar b/c of the Rumble reaction but isn't this kind of a big deal? Would definitely be interesting to see how they use him.

I thought this was interesting. Someone I know who was a total Attitude Era casual fan and doesn't watch anymore told me recently that wrestling came up at work and people were talking about why they don't watch anymore. Everyone complained about commercial breaks during matches. Generally speaking, is this something that bugs you or has bugged you in the past? Have you heard other people complain about this too? I thought this was interesting because it's the perfect example of something someone inside the wrestling bubble doesn't give much thought, but I could see it being annoying for people who feel like they're missing something because of a commercial break. Hopefully someone will be able to answer this, and I am thinking that this place would be the best to ask. I was recently reading some old issues of the Observer and came across the Jackie Sato obituary. I was completely unaware that Sato actually made a return in the mid 80s after her initial retirement, and was part responible for the formation of the JWP promotion. I then learned that she ended up having a match with Shinobu Kandori in 1987, where the latter was convinced to put a legit beating on Sato, which led to Sato's retirement. So while I was going over some unrelated stuff in my head, I recalled my biggest gripe with modern puro. There are too many damn strike exchanges. I love the majority of 90s All Japan I have seen. Maybe it's just that I've only been exposed to the better workers who knew how to keep their egos and their in-ring stuff in check so they didn't go way too long exchanging elbows and slaps. Anyway, most post-2000 puro I have seen, regardless of if the workers involved could pull off the strike exchanges well, involves at least one. F4W are reporting that Dynamite Kid has suffered a stroke in England. One of the all time greats, hope he makes a good recovery. I guess it depends on how severe the stroke was... but no news is available.

What were the terms of the deal that Vince did with his dad and partners to gain ownership of the WWWF? I know his dad was thiniking of selling, so VKM stepped in, but have always been curious about the business side of the deal? Anyone with some deeper knowledge of it?

When Vince was given Bangor by his father in the early 70's, What was he given in terms of talent / arenas / etc.. - want to see the results of the shows over that time What was the area like at the start? How did it grow over the 6 months he talked about? What was the final thing that made his dad say "OK, you are good, come on in, to the whole WWWF?" Thanks!

I think it's amazing that after years, maybe decades of people hating the WWF/WWE and how they limit indy guys, pretty much everyone agrees that the system improves almost everyone multifold. Did the indies change, did the WWE change, or did we change?

what does this say about the current state of the National Wrestling Alliance? I Love Ricky & wrestled him several times but isn't he just a few pounds over the Jr weight limit?

If Nash doesnt get hurt in the big match in July on RAW and Vince kills the NWO...what was the plan to go from there with the NWO? I thought we had a thread for this year already, but it looks like we don't. Because of the Observer timeline the "year" for the purposes of those Awards is already three quarters over and I think this is an interesting year because I'm not sure what the consensus is even within that universe. For example normally I would figure Okada and Tanahashi as the leading contenders for Wrestler of The Year, but since Bryan is a messianic figure to such a huge cross section of smart fans it feels like he has to be the favorite for that award...maybe? Also MOTY feels wide open with several NJPW matches, plus the best couple of WWE matches likely to spread the vote out a ton. I…

I thought maybe we could use this thread to compile a list of the *known* worked Pancrase and PRIDE matches. I'd like to watch them all just like I watch pro wrestling matches.

Watching the yearbooks has really been like starting over as a wrestling fan for me. In general, there are many things I value and pay attention to in wrestling that never mattered to me before. It's been awesome going through the 90s so far. That said, I want to check out footage from other eras and see what I think now. In between yearbooks, I'm planning to catch up on all of the 80s sets by watching the matches from them chronologically. I'm ignoring the previous WWF set since that will be done again, and focusing on Mid South (which I want to watch again), Memphis, AWA, All Japan, New Japan and Other Japan. Thought of this today when I saw that Elgin vs Richards from 2012 is a 5-star match. Haven't watched it, but I quite dislike Elgin and am not that fond of Richards either.
