I did a round table with the placetobe guys last night and the question came up... what are the best three consecutive PPVs a company has put out? I think Justin had it right when he brought up the following three PPVs from WCW 1992. However, if someone wants to argue for three other PPVs, I would be willing to listen. Superbrawl II - The Mecca; Milwaukee, WI 2/29/1992 - Light Heavyweight Title: Brian Pillman beat Jushin Liger to win the title - Marcus Alexander Bagwell beat Terry Taylor - Ron Simmons beat Cactus Jack - Van Hammer & Tom Zenk beat Vinnie Vegas & Ricky Morton - Barry Windham & Dustin Rhodes beat Steve Austin & Larry Zbyzsk…

Dylan's massive write-up on Rossville, GA inspired the nostalgia in me. Thanks to his consideration I'm starting this thread and will try to keep up with it as best I can. I'll start tonight with an intro and pick up where I left off tomorrow: I live and grew up in the metropolitan area of Chattanooga, Tennessee. On the surface, it's a beautiful city right smack dab in the center of the south. It's in relatively reasonable traveling distance from Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, Huntsville, and Birmingham. We have a newly renovated riverfront with a great Art District, a revered Aquarium, an old but extremely popular walking bridge, a North Shore with tacky shops and r…

Which offensive moves make you cringe when you see them delivered due to the sheer ferocity or impact of the manouevre? Or a particular spot in a match when you just shuddered at the brutality? I will give this more thought and put in some more answers later but the move I was watching when I got the idea for the thread was Samoa Joe's facewash, man that looks like it must fucking hurt!!

I've been thinking of doing this sequel to the much loved Race 83 and Backlund 78 threads for a while. Although I think there is a clear frontrunner here, I do think that unlike the other two cases, there were possibly many more options on the table. So let's say something happens to Flair and he disappears off the face of the earth in 1981, who do they go with as NWA champ? Just in case you're not sure, I'm talking about Ric Flair's first title win on September 17, 1981 over Dusty Rhodes. As I understand it, the decision had already been taken to take the belt off Harley long term and Dusty was always meant to be a transitional champ to drop the belt to Flair. If tha…

What is likely a result of Naito getting a cold reaction at Saturday's Power Struggle event, NJPW is letting fans decide who goes on last at the Dome show: Nakamura/Tanahashi (IC Title) or Okada/Naito (Heavyweight Title) I go into some details about the background and why it happened here: http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2013/11/1...m-8-main-event/ The poll is here: http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/wrestling/pc/inf...1111/index.html

This may end of being a dumb question. But has anyone left WWF / E for WCW only to become a bigger star. I ask this because I can list many going from WCW to the E. Undertaker, Austin HHH and many more. But I cant think of any the other way. And by star I mean was a mid card / jobber to become a top guy. The only one comes. To mind is Rude maybe.

Has anyone gone through a phase where they can't be arsed talking or watching wrestling? I'm 28 now, I started watching wrestling when I was 5 watching the Von Erich's old tapes and USWA on Satellite in the UK. And I've been almost Aspergers about the whole thing, but has anyone else here reached a point when it's too much? How can I get the enjoyment back? Have I ODed on it over the years?

If you've ever spent any time on Comic Book forums you'll always find a particular obsession with the question of "continuity". What's "in continuity", what isn't, and so on. I'm a DC guy and DC fans in particular are prone to asking these sorts of questions. As wrestling fans, however, used to the carny absurd world of wrestling, we don't tend to ask them. In this thread, for fun, I'm going to have a go. I want to highlight some of the grey areas. For example, Is the Robocop who turns up at Capital Combat meant to be the same Robocop as in the film? And does that mean that the Robocop films belong to the same "universe" as WCW? Is Sting able to go to the near-f…

Damien Sandow v. Kofi Kingston Kofi had been far more tolerable since his return, as he throws fewer terrible strikes and he has a couple of really solid spots he works in. This was a pretty decent, albeit not particularly special, opener.

Like the 'Mania IV and '89-90 threads, this really isn't supposed to be fantasy booking, but designed for simple discussion. But, if Loss or Will disagree, then they'll move it over there. Let's say that Rude doesn't get hurt in Japan. What direction does Rick Rude's career go in? I honestly, don't see him sticking around in WCW much past '95. Unless he was making crazy good money and not ready to give it up. The WWF was in hell at the time, and smaller groups like ECW and Smoky Mountain couldn't afford him. When he got hurt he was the WCW International World Champion, but that was about to be merged with the regular WCW Title, and Hogan was on his way in. Hogan and …

Since there is a lot of Macho Man love on this board, I thought I would throw this out there even though it has been discussed to death. I have never been able to figure out the booking strategy surrounding this ppv. With all of the talk of Dibiase being givin the belt and Honkey refusing to job the IC belt to Savage, things obviously worked out for the best. But what if it didn't work out that way. I will list some points below and maybe I can get some feedback. 1. What if Hogan doesn't need time off for his movie ? Does he keep the belt for the year and then defend it against a heel turned Savage at wmv ? If so, who does Hogan defend against at wm4 ? Where d…

I'm trying to get back into puro and i keep hearing good things about NJPW. Are they the best out there right now? Can someone name some cards or even tv i should check out. Or maybe some specific matches and wrestlers. I hear Alex Shelley and Davey Boy jr are tearing it up for their respective tag teams

I would never usually do this, but I'm am extremely interested in this topic. It came up on the last Titans show when I discussed it mainly with Johnny (Sorrow) and Pete (shoe) (but the others chimed in too) and then again on WTBBP with Chad (soup23). Johnny's and Chad's takes on this topic are really different. As I mention, I know from previous discussions, Dylan is closer to Chad's position. I honestly don't know where I fall on this and think there are good arguments on both sides. I know we've discussed it before, but I'd honestly like to go over it again. For people who don't usually listen to either of these shows, I've taken the unusual move of pulling out…

I figure I'd post this question here over some other places I frequent since I feel as though I'll get more of a response I'm looking for. Simply looking for some of the best tag team matches that have happened in indy wrestling. Tried looking through my wrestling collection but I've grown tired of the DGUSA and most ROH style matches on them so maybe there are matches that have gone underneath my radar that I could be pointed to. Thanks in advance.

I didn't put this in armchair booking because I saw this as more of a discussion than fantasy booking. As it's been said, Warrior going over Hogan at WMVI is seen by many as the point when business dropped but I've read that things began to fall apart in 1989. What I would like is to look a little deeper into why this happened and get some ideas on how they could have kept things status quo. If you start at WMV and work through 1990 you will see how much the faces went over strong and the decline of credible heels. If you take the top 5 faces/heels in 4/89 it would look something like this: Faces: 1. Hogan 2. Warrior 3. Jake Roberts 4. Duggin …

Hands-down, the 88 match with all the tag teams. Last hurrah for the Bulldogs, only time we see them on the same side with the Hart Foundation, and a glance at what could have been seeing them tussle with Arn & Tully.

I'm crowd sourcing a top ten list for the best Halloween Havoc matches (topical of course) and would love everyone's help with nominations and subsequent discussion. Just a couple quick to get the discussion started: 1989 - Luger / Pillman 1997 - Misterio / Guerrero 1998 - DDP / Goldberg Which matches would make your list?

Kevin Nash just celebrated his 25 year wedding anniversary yesterday, which goes totally against the grain (or seems to), aspeople in the business can't seem to stay married for such a long period of time. (The McMahons being the notable exceptions). This got me thinking, what other examples are there of wrestlers bucking the trend, like Nash, when it comes to marriage of someone who was on the road for such a long period of time, and was world champion/high profile? There are other things that people think are the normal as it pertains to being a wrestler such as never retiring, health issues etc. Never retiring is interesting because people have had to retir…
