Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton Alberto Del Rio © vs. Rob Van Dam CM Punk vs. Ryback The Shield (c's) vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust Curtis Axel © vs. R-Truth Kofi Kingston vs. Bray Wyatt AJ Lee © vs. Brie Bella Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow Surely one of the worst looking cards the WWE has ever put together? The only things of remote interest are the main event and the Rhodes/Shield tag. This is going to do an absolutely awful buy rate, surely? Especially since it is just being shown on regular cable in the UK, so they will lose a lot of their international buys. The cynic in me would argue that they are trying to cut the legs off Daniel Bryan, offeri…

I read Kawada worked in Canada getting some "seasoning" early in his career... Who did he work for and what ring name did he go by? Is there video available of him?

Hoping someone knows the answer to this... Following Summerslam 1990, Savage started a TV feud with Warrior wanting a title shot as well as both men taunting back and forth... However, Savage doesnt wrestle hardly at all until October, when he finally starts the house show matches with Warrior..but they never wrestle at one of the BIG Televised venues... 1. Was Savage hurt from Summerslam to October and if so, what was wrong? 2. Why did the two of them have NO matches in the big televised venues (Boston / MSG / etc...) if they were building a feud between them? 3. Was the original plan for the '91 Rumble Savage vs. Warrior for the title before …

Throughout wrestling history, there have been a lot of guys who are thought of as good talkers who then -- for logical enough reasons -- are given a spot as a colour commentator. However, what often happens is that said guy with a career of fantastic promos behind him absolutely sucks in the announce booth. 1. What are some of the best examples of this? We all know about Billy Graham and Dusty Rhodes, but trying to unearth some less obvious ones. Maybe they only spent a few matches on colour, or maybe they were on a C-show. 2. Why should this happen so often? In theory, announcing is not so far removed from promos: you are trying to get key points across wh…

Been thinking about this the last few days after listening to Will and Charles Podcast Since the first HIAC in '97, I cant think of that many GREAT cage matches the WWF had in the Attitude era (through 2002) that wasnt a HIAC or a Chamber (in 2002) or part of a 2 of 3 falls gimmick match...I will say that I lived daily in "strange clouds" through 2008, so I am sure I am forgetting some and havent pulled up the match lists.... Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit in 2001 was OK, but more of a spot that its remembered for... Any really good ones I am not thinking of? The cage was THE thing up to that era.... Adding these as they come up.. Breakdown 1998 Tr…

I need some help understanding the arrangement the two had leading into their first Wrestlemania match. I understand the two didn't care too much for each other off camera. When they agreed to work together and cut promos on each other did the other guy know what was coming or was it ad-libbed live with the vibe of "Bring your best material"?? I remember the Raw when Cena called out Rock for the notes on the arm and The Rock moved into Cena's space and kinda stalked him and at the end looked as if he was struggling with his promo. Was all of that planned to make Cena look good? Are there any good articles or posts that break down the feud? I can't seem to get a handle on …

I started this thread because Goodhelmet asked me to do it, and frankly, it's the main thing I mark out about minus supremely slick technical wrestling. Since this is really just a way to start off talking about the best or worst ring gear that we've ever seen. Best: The Rockers green-and-black masterpieces at WrestleMania 7. I swear to god, when I started e-fedding, those were the things I had in mind for what I wanted my gear to look like. Here's a picture: Misawa's everything. While it wasn't as good in NOAH, where he had that fur on his jacket that made it look like he had been living in the mountains before coming down to Tokyo for wrestling, the clas…

So, it looks like I'll be interviewing Dusty Rhodes. You guys are probably as good as it gets when it comes to hardcore fans. Any ideas for moments and stories I should ask him about? Also, what questions do you have about his career that he might be able/willing to answer? Things that have been bugging you? I will have to mix these in with stuff about his current storyline, but I'd love to try to make some of this for "us" too. Help appreciated.

OK, I saw another person on a video call Vince McMahon and "genius"....it bothers me and I am in a hateful mood tonight...so.... We all know what Vince McMahon has done to profesional wrestling through his money, promoting, envelop pushing, etc...., but its not like he took something new and made it into something. He took someting his family had built and made it much much better and all credit to him...he is a legend when it comes to wrestling....that being said... Everything else he's done has failed and pretty much horribly....WBF / IcoPro / XFL / WWE Studios (I know they are still there, but were losing money and have to work with other companies now)…

I thought this would make for some fun discussion. There seem to be certain cases where we see something happen and, with as long as we've been watching wrestling, we pretty much know what's going to happen next. - During the contract signing, the table is getting turned over. - A babyface wins a trophy or award, and the heel breaks it. - The babyface asks the longtime heel for help in his feud, and says he wants him to be his old self. The babyface gets double crossed. - Challenger wins the title match by DQ or count out, and celebrates like he just won the super bowl. What else do y'all got?

Going through 90s yearbooks, I think comparing WWF and WCW fans and what they popped for is a really interesting topic. I found that in general, it was easier for good workers to get over in front of a WCW crowd. If the wrestlers were doing good work, fans were going to get into what they were doing. The WWF was more based on perception and hype, so two no-names having a good match wasn't going to get a strong reaction very often. There are also certain spots we've all commented on in the threads, the most notable being that a surefire way to pop a WCW crowd is to do a series of tombstone piledriver reversals. That was a constant through good times and bad, changes …

Now of course there will be no REALLY universally enjoyable matches that EVERYONE who has any interest in wrestling will like, but there should be some that come pretty close. The Ultraman/Solar/Astro v. Hermoso/Greco/Reyna match from the Lucha set got me thinking about it. That match is just a total blast; big dives, fast paced sequences, great comedy moments and doesn't let up or overstay its welcome. Seems like a match you could show just about anyone who has any interest in wrestling and they'd enjoy watching it. So what are some other great examples of near universally enjoyable matches? The big 10 man tag from RAW in 2000 should be up there. Big feel, …

Curious as to everyone's thoughts on this. In 80's WWF everything sort of seemed to exist in its own universe. Outside the occasional lumberjack match and the jobbers coming out to break up a brawl, wrestlers and issues rarely crossed over into each other. This hit me recently when I watched a late 89 Superstars where Boris Zhukov of all people cuts a generic promo where at the end he challenges Hulk Hogan. It struck me as absurdly funny because obviously it meant nothing and went nowhere. You never had Randy Savage and Elizabeth comment on what they thought about Jake Roberts-Rick Rude's feud for instance. Things took place in their own micro-universe. …

I asked KHawk this as well, but figured I'd ask the board... The one Kids Klassics tape for the AWA I dont have is Sgt Slaughter's...but I know I have all the video that is on the tape... That being said...during the previews for the tape that can be seen at the end of any of the other ones, Slaughter does a bloody interview yelling at Larry Z, I think, saying "The last person that did this to me is pushing up daises..." What show was this interview on? What happened to him to get all bloodied...I am guessing Larry Z jumped him, but not 100% sure...dont want to search through hours of 85 and 86 footage to find it either... Anyone help?

Name some matches that were really enhanced by the commentators doing an excellent job of calling the match. Here are a few examples. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP0AfWLeDok

What are people's favorite wrestling video games? I've got several on my list, mostly for nostalgic reasons. My top 5: 5. WWF Royal Rumble (Sega Genesis) I played this game for hours growing up. Nothing overly special about its graphics or gameplay, it was just really awesome to have a Royal Rumble on the Genesis. 4. Legends of Wrestlemania (PS3) A great roster and the game designers did a solid job capturing the nostalgia from the 80s and 90s era. The ring entrances are better than the actual gameplay, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've used this game to teach my two little nieces about wrestling. They love it. The other day, this game taught them what…

So one thing I've been looking to do of late was get more into the territories-era stuff. I'm looking for you to rank AWA, Georgia, Memphis, World Class, Florida and Mid-South, and give a few reasons for why you'd rank them that way. Also, would you rank any of them above the WWF or Crockett taking the whole of the 80s into account?

Hoping to use this to ask questions as I go through and learn the odds and ends of Puro as well as angles and context...hoping the Puro pro's can help me along... OK, here I go, the first few...: 1. How are angles built? Is it all in ring? If A beats up B in a tag match, then they start to build to them in a big singles match later? 2. Is there much stock in interviews or interactions outside the ring? 3. Are Run-Ins a big deal in terms of building a feud or starting one? Those are my first few? Mind you these are all from a North American fan's point of view almost completely.... Thanks!
