Someone just put up the WWE 24/7 cut of the Black Saturday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC43_rTSXt4 Here is Dave Meltzer on the Peach State Pandemonium a show hosted by Rich Tate and Les Thatcher talking about 25th anniversary of “Black Saturday” in Georgia. Link: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/PSP/2009/07/1...Pandemonium.mp3 Fantastic stuff Bare in mind that this was recorded the same week as UFC 116 so there is some UFC talk. Thought I would bring both to your attention.

did you guys see those two vignettes last night? interesting stuff, very Starrcadeish I've long thought it would be -- forgive me -- candyassed of the 'E and Sting not to work together for this Wrestlemania, a legitimate show catastrophe But I'm not going to hold out hope too hard. What do ya'll think?

is there footage of Graham out there from when he was arm-wrestling people in Calgary / the West Coast?

I have a soft spot for these type of threads so I'll start it. Man, Ziggler is quickly becoming one of my favorite guys. I really don't like most Edge matches but by the end, I was into this almost entirely due to Ziggler and his facials after trying so hard to put Edge out but unable to seal the deal. The early portion of the match was "Eh" but it picked up in the end with the Vicki interference and Edge trying alternative ways to put Ziggler away. I also like Edge's half ass sharpshooter. I don't know what he is trying to do with it but it looked ok.

The Lawler/Meltzer discussion got me thinking. While the crop of great wrestlers is undoubtedly thinner than in the past, there are a few outstanding performers currently. I'd be curious to hear what some of you think. Are they top 100 or so all time? (US/Canada specifically) Mostly I consider this a general opinion thread, but that's the angle I'm looking at. Feel free to add others. John Cena Randy Orton Bryan Danielson (Is he a comparable worker among Dynamite Kid, Johnny Valentine, etc.?) The Big Show Kane Trish Stratus

Personally I don't know anyone who subscribes to PWTorch and doesn't listen to Bruce Mitchell's audio show but if there is they should have listen of part 1 this week. Nothing ground breaking but he takes on DGUSA in his own analytical style tackling why DGUSA isn't growing by looking at marketing shows almost strictly on star ratings and selling a different version of the same thing match/moves wise also looking the star rating system of analysis in general. Essentially is this really a compelling case from the WO Daily Update for ordering a show : Compare that to Final Battle even with the storyline driven top three matches.

When I first joined this forum almost 3 years ago, I was obsessed with women's wrestling. I couldn't get enough deevers, joshi, shimmer, knockouts, all of it. Sometime in early 2010, I completely lost interest. I'm just not down with chick rasslin much anymore. It kind of got me to wondering: What styles, workers, eras, etc do you now feel the opposite about? It doesn't have to just mean going off of an old favorite. Maybe you hated and now love it. I'm just always curious what shifts occur, especially for people who have been watching for years and years and years.

Again, Rumble spoilers here: PWI has reported, and Dave appears to have confirmed on his board, that WWE has signed Booker T and Kevin Nash to make surprise appearances at the Rumble. The timing of this happening the night before the big MEM reunion doesn't seem coincidental. This is kind of nostalgic for me. I miss the days of wrestling promotions screwing with each other like this. I think Vince is just amusing himself at this point.

I was amusing myself watching the R-A-S-S-L-I-N performance again on youtube, and it made me feel like watching . Jesus, I had forgotten how absolutely shameless this thing is. I appreciate that the crowd might like the idea of honoring David, but they trot out a kid to sing. The lyrics are embarrassingly over the top. And at the end, they have the gall to offer the tape for sale. What comes to mind when the term "shameless" is used? I figure we could just say "Fritz" and then close the thread. But what else? (oh, and I secretly love that "heaven needed" song - don't tell anyone)

I was telling my brother about some comments I had made on a "what went wrong" thread at TOA, where I describe how mean-spirited promos and interviews are these days. I said I blamed The Rock and NWO for getting so much success out of being assholes, and so John Cena and everyone else has to do it now. He reminded me that our whole society has shifted in that direction. Political discourse, reality tv, etc -- so much has shifted to a "must tear down the other guy no matter what" attitude. No wonder rasslin does the same thing. It's just an interesting comparison to a segment from USWA 1993 I just watched last night where Savage went down there and challenged Lawler.…

I downloaded the complete set of the series and I find myself staying up late to watch them. Sometimes it's out of wanting to see what happens next in a positive way, but sometimes it's a "wait that made no sense, maybe they explain it later" way. General thoughts: -This is clearly what Russo wants shows to feel like, only done exponentially better than he ever managed to. It's predictable at times, but Heyman does a better job of making you gloss over the mistakes and there's less embarassingly awful crap. -Oh, and there are plenty of mistakes. For instance, the angle where someone 'put a hit out' on Dreamer, and it turns out to be... Judge Jeff Jones? And t…

http://www.bryanalvarez.com/ Hmm, looks like this is becoming a bigger undertaking than he originally suggested. Loss, it might be worth putting the original discussion of Bryan's After Dark show in this new thread.

Watching the Chris Jericho DVD got me thinking about those wrestlers who had the most memorable debuts in a wrestling promtoion. I know a lot of people put Jericho's first ever WWF appearance among those and it was certainly well done... and it does hold up pretty nicely over time, although Jericho said on the DVD he thinks his spiel and his reactions to Rock's rebuttal come off a bit cartoony. I would think another debut that would rank up there would be Scott Hall showing up on Nitro... true, he had been in WCW prior to that, but upon his return, it was a completely different persona and one that really got the ball rolling on the Outsiders/nWo angle. Ric Flai…

I'm hoping someone can answer this for me. Am I crazy, or have I read somewhere that there were plans to put the IWGP title on Liger in 2000? Was he briefly pushed as a heavyweight? Did something happen to kill that? I'd love to hear this story if anyone has more info.

Watching The Giant's WCW PPV debut match vs Hulk Hogan on WWE 24/7, and I can't help but marvel at how that whole period where Hogan had his mustache shaved off and was dressed in all black has been almost completely forgotten by history. Even more so when you consider it seems like it was more or less a test run for what ended up being the Hollywood Hogan gimmick.

I downloaded this 1990 NWA/WCW Pro compilation and have been watching it each night. Thought I could share my thoughts and maybe start some discussion. First few matches are squashes and really shows why I prefer WWF squashes to WCW. WWF squashes are straight ass kicking unless it is a higher up jobber. WCW tries to give the pretense of competition and it is not fun. Lex Luger vs Barry Horowitz This was a mess with the Horsemen and the Dudes with Attitude coming to ringside. Junkyard Dog looked so uninterested in everything. Like he did not even know why he was in the ring. Rock n' Roll Express vs Doom This was a good match. Not quite as good as th…

I've made a few changes to the board, as it feels like it needs a little freshening up: #1 - I've merged some of the folders that don't get as much activity into the main Pro Wrestling folder, which is no longer called Big Egg Universe by the way. #2 - I'm going to start heavily moderating "Comments that don't warrant a thread". If you have something to say, I kindly request that you just start a thread. I don't want to say don't use that thread at all, but think about something before you post it. If it's a topic that warrants a long discussion, just start a thread. We don't have so much traffic that posts are going to get lost. I do this too, so I'm not in any…

Out Jan. 25th in North America Land: http://www.silvervision.co.uk/products/Bes...VD-3-Discs.html Some fun stuff on here, certainly promo-wise. "Kissing babies and hugging fat girls", Batista quitting, CM Punk's 900th ep promo, tea time with Santino and others. And a lot of expected things, like Bret's return and Nexus' first appearance. Wonder if tie-gate will be edited out.

I think that a lot of us have posted at many different wrestling message boards throughout the years, and I am curious as to some of them I have missed out on a lot. For the first six or seven years of my message board history, I was mostly concerned with e-fedding and Photoshop so I posted at WrestlingHookup, WorldsofWrestling, Wrestlepages, FNX, DDT, Wrestlezone, and prowrestling.com. Then I joined DVDVR and became interested solely in the history/sleaze/backstage stuff of most wrestling companies. I also came here and CKC(mostly for the lulz and dudes like Bix, KS, and FH.) Now in 2010 I mostly stick to lurking here and at DVDVR while posting at FNX more frequent…
