December 2012

  1. Looking at the participants, I am not surprised to say that this match, did in fact RULE. Great stuff from start to finish - loved the beginning w/ Ishii & Shibata going at it - you could see they got SOMETHING in there with their chemistry. Nakamura & Shibata brawling outside the ring was fun, Nakamura & Sakuraba did some neat work on the mat, but goddamn, my favorite thing about the whole match was the exchanges between one Stone Pitbull & the one Gracie Hunter himself. Judging by what we got here, I think a singles meeting between them could've & most likely would've rocked my world - Sakuraba beating the crap out of Ishii, as Ishii sold that beauti…

  2. Axel Tischer defends the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title Just watched this match posted on the wXw YouTube channel a few years ago. Hadn't seen much of Tischer pre-SAnitY so it was nice to have a little dive into his body of work prior. The match takes a while to pace itself a bit and it seems to happen once Eddie Edwards decides to work the match heel with the crowd obviously pro-Tischer. My favorite sequence in the match happens about midway when Edwards desperately tries to hit the Backpack Stunner on Tischer but on the 2 first occasions, Tischer locks in a rear naked choke on Edwards. Finally on the 3rd attempt, Edwards is able to hit it. Other nice sequence to…

  3. AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels Final Resolution 2012 -This is being billed as the last AJ vs Daniels match and might actually be. Super underrated feud. These two has insane chemistry. -It will be interesting to see where they go from the violent, hate-filled brawl they did about six months ago -Daniels does a great Owen Hart celebrating every shoulder tackle -Daniels closing the gap so Style can't pop off his early match drop kick is great. -Styles countering the hip toss and then nailing his dropkick is even better. Styles may be the greatest babyface ever at control segments which is incredibly hard. -Love the symmetry of their matches with …

  4. Good match that I recall being a breakout performance for Sasha. She really goes for it. She pulls off some notable spots (like the double knees in the corner and the back cracker into a painful looking submission) that got people to sit up and take notice. She takes a big bump on a tope to the outside as well. Ultimately Charlotte gets the better of her and the finisher is memorable too - a top rope Natural Selection. There's a couple of awkward moments that don't quite come off but I think it's a good first singles match in their rivalry - they would have better on NXT television and the main roster.

  5. A master class in overreacting and siliness. Even if it isn't a match that manages to maintain its charm so successfully nn rewatches I'm not sure there's a pro wrestling match that better encapsulates the idea of a wrestling match intertwined with Christmas themes. The match itself is structured like a cartoon fight, and you can see the transitions coming, although the novelty of the ridiculousness should overwhelm that on your first watch. I'm leaning towards including it even if it didn't completely live to my very fond memories of it-but then again all jokes lose their charm after repetition.
