  1. Another night of Hashimoto & Tenryu trying to slice through eachother with chops. It never gets old!! Really you always find something new when these guys are tearing into eachother. Hirata is one of the more non descript japanese guys but he is perfectly fine here getting kicked in the face by Tenryu and getting a nice run of offense near the end until he gets caught by a flying chair cause Tenryu knows no rules. W-A-R!

  5. Brief match in which Frye makes Fujiwara look like a huge threat. Frye sold really well and I would have liked to see him working longer singles matches. Worth checking out to see Fujiwara and Frye trading punches.

  6. The kind of NJPW tag match where they really try to create something special, pretty much in line with what AJPW were doing at that time. It’s the semi final of the iwgp tournament with NJPW young guns vs the outsiders team of WAR Tenryu and Heisei Ishingun leader Koshinaka. Here there’s a huge spotlight on Nakanishi working as a face in peril after a suplex from the apron to the outside by Tenryu (a spot they would eventually use in the finals on Chono). The hope spots stopped by Tenryu and koshinaka are a pleasure to watch. Tenryu is at his old grumpy bastard’s best. Kojima as the face in fire is pretty good as well in there. There’s a great moment when Koshinaka …

  7. Thanks GOTNW. This was phenomenal and one of the best pure skill vs. pure rage matches I've ever seen. Fujinami wants to open this MUGA style, but Hash blitzes him with a DDT and follows up with a huge barrage of kicks, setting the tone for the rest of the match: Hashimoto demolishing the old man, and wily Fujinami trying to catch the beast. No one kicks a man when he's down like Hashimoto, and he lays an all time epic beating on Fujinami including one of the most gorgeous high kicks I've ever seen. Fujinami is great withstanding the beating, selling his leg and making comebacks, and the psychology is top notch: In isolation, Hashimoto's leg sweep is a cool enough spot, b…

  8. This was a fun undercard match that they actually showed in full. I liked the opening basic hold exchanges with both guys doing something nifty – Fujita hitting a cool STO from a front headlock and Yamakawa with a nice leg trip. The rest of this was mostly a Fujita showcase. His basic offense is much more vicious than your average junior – dropkick to the head, hurty looking headbutts, kneedrop to the back of the head etc, while also mixes in innovative stuff. Yamakawa didn't look quite up there as he seemed nowhere near as in shape as Fujita and was struggling to get into position at times, but he got it together for the finishing run, hitting some huge kicks. The win ac…
