I fucking love Rusev Oh, and WWE is teasing "a major star" is returning tonight. Cena tweeted a picture from a gym in Tampa, but they are in Rock's turf so I guess it could be him to hype his Mania involvement.

Seems like this issue is ripe for a topic, so lets recap: WWE splits up Lana and Rusev and pairs them off with someone neither has chemistry with. People immediately start the "lol WWE must be trying to split up a real couple" half-jokes that always come up when a real life couple is broken up on TV. Lana breaks her arm and is off TV for a while, during said absence TMZ (who is one of WWE's approved outlets to get first dibs on their stories they want to go mainstream) posts Lana and Rusev's engagement photos. WWE relying on Jericho to go the distance in the Rumble and give Styles a good match in his Raw debut shows that they really need a younger workhorse type to take on that role. It's just not a role for a 45-year-old. You need someone ideally who won't look odd working with big or small guys and who isn't going to threaten the main event picture, but is still protected to a lesser extent and can work with anyone in any spot on the card. You need someone who's over enough that they'll have reasonably heated matches. A wonderful show for kids that features the people that are supposed to be the future stars? That's fucking brilliant. More importantly it's a really well done and charming wrestling show. And Graves is apparently actually going to be one of the greats in announcing based on this performance.

I can't bring myself to watch the TV, because when I tried the booking was shit. The pvs have some good matches, but the booking is awful. Nobody is that over. The WWE is not holding any interest for me right now, but where does it rank in the history of the WWE/F? Clearly 1999 was worse, but there has to be worse periods as well.

Court Bauer and Dave Meltzer reported today that the WWE signed AJ Styles, Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson. The part in bold is what I'm wondering if people believe: I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by the questionable booking. During my time on the WWE creative team, we actually were told that there really are no babyfaces or heels in the Divas division. It was strongly implied that the Divas are all just a bunch of catty chicks, most of whom are mentally unstable. A perfect example of that philosophy was the booking of the program between AJ and Paige last year. Instead of establishing a babyface and a heel, both characters acted heelish, Their "frenemies" angle was more confusing…

They don't have anyone anywhere near in a position to get over by beating Undertaker, and they don't really have time to get anyone to that point either. That's why, sadly, Cena is the only guy that makes sense as an opponent to me.

So there's a pretty big article here with the gist being that the NFL's head doctor in regards to concussions is also the guy who led the charge denying the evidence about CTE. What kind of flies under the radar is that Joseph Maroon, who besides being the go to WWE doctor is also the Pittsburgh Steelers' doctor, is also another of the main evidence deniers who are getting the side eye from people who doubt the NFL is taking the issue as anything more than PR spin. So knowing how WWE is so lawsuit leery (and rightfully so), it seems kind of odd they'd be attached to a doctor who was on the wrong side of history in regards to CTE.

OK, on paper, this is a total crap shoot match quality wise. In terms of booking, I have lost the will to care. However, I have gone in expecting nothing before and been pleasantly surprised.
