Draft discussion, analysis and trash talk
83 really isn't THAT early for Eric Embry. I'm not sure if he was really so much better in 88 & 89 or if it's just that he got more chances. I've seen him in some pretty good TV matches as the over matched underdog who loses but puts up a fight before losing, especially one against Dory Jr. from Florida and one I just saw recently against Bobby Jaggers from 83 Southwest that I also thought was good, which isn't an opinion I am having very often watching Southwest.

Draft discussion, analysis and trash talk
Aww hell I wanted to build a Light Heavyweight Division around Eric Embry Or at least put him in a Fabulous Blondes team. I wouldn't have taken him in the 3rd but I had him as a possible 4th.

I did not expect JVK to take Backlund so high. But I am sure it is going to lead to Backlund getting jobbed hard on the way out.

I think Ric Stuart was there by then? And Thatcher had left? I think so. KrisZ should be able to clarify but I am pretty sure it was Platt/Stuart by July 1983.

1983 Rulebook
JVK makes a good point. I think it should also include guys who had worked in the U.S. previously.

NWA Board of Directors
Southwest also apologizes for it's incursion into WCCW territory running 3 shows in Ft. Worth from May-June 1983 to the tune of 300, 125 & 35 paying fans. There are no future plans to run any more live events in Ft. Worth.

NWA Board of Directors
Joe Blanchard and Southwest Championship Wrestling are not requesting to join at this time but would like to apologize for it's horrible World Title tournament and has decided to abandon the title going forward. Even though we are not official members of the NWA, we realize that co-operation & gentlemanly agreements not to go against each other is what makes wrestling a prosperous business for all of us.

Trade deals
Look at this guy big timing, taking Stampede's top guy for 3 months for 4 days of Andre. You think someone who clearly thinks he is above the rest of the "rinky dink" regional promotions isn't planning on taking over the whole thing?

Cowboy Bob cutting babyface promos in 1990 Five Star Wrestling was....something else.

Roman Reigns
He is really, really good. I started the Microscope thread on him and it was another one of those big "the majority internet consensus is horribly wrong" moments for me. In a few years from now when he has more on his resume I could see him being a much better candidate. As it is I just don't think he has enough singles matches to really hang his hat on. The Lesnar match is going to likely be remembered as an all time great, the Bryan match was great, The Big Show LMS match was really good and he has more good TV singles matches than you'd think. There just aren't that many of them. There are a ton of awesome matches as a part of The Shield but it feels like something that adds to a case for him instead of something you build one on.

Random questions thread
Did Vince McMahon ever try and get The Fabulous Ones to come to WWF? I know about the famous meeting with The Midnights where they decided not to go because they were talking about action figures and merchandise and not wrestling, but I have never heard about Vince going after Stan & Steve? Seems like he would have wanted to pick them up in 83/84 when they were still a hot act.

1983 Rulebook
Southwest was loosely affiliated with AWA for a while but at some point in 1983 that ended and they decided to create their own 'World Title.' I plan to copy real life and pretend that never happened, just using the Southwest Heavyweight title as my main belt. I'm going to stay on the fence to see what Crossface does with the AWA title before deciding whether or not to join with a larger affiliation.

Well we got our eye on New York down in San Antonio, despite the rest of you being lulled into a false sense of security. Winter is coming.

JVK already setting up to try and run us out of business everyone. I think maybe we need to band together and make sure we're prepared to fight the WWF.

Shawn Michaels v. Steve Austin
I've seen the Mind Games match with Foley pimped so much that I feel like it's over rated. It definitely felt over rated at the time I first watched it and had spent months reading on the internet about how great it was. I feel like it's really good. I don't do star ratings but I couldn't see it going above 4 stars if I did. I want JVK to watch that one.

Time limit shouldn't be any shorter than 8 hours. Too many different time zones to settle on a "normal business hours" time range.
