  1. I didn't plan on booking him above his 1983 level but that's fine. Hopefully I'll get him later.
  2. Well I guess if Billy Travis is a definite no until his first WWF result then that would be 3/23/84 losing to Sal Bellomo at a taping in the St. Louis arena. I still think he should probably be draftable.
  3. I'd push that back to 1985 where he turns heel and teams with Norvell & Koko as the 3rd PYT and then teams with Ron Sexton and is managed by Buddy Wayne.
  4. Is Billy Joe Travis available? According to his wiki he was wrestling just not in a big territory in 1983:

    Tully is Southwest not Southeast.
  6. dkookypunk is setting up for an all star Mid-South roster with Dibiase, JYD & Murdoch.
  7. To me it was him, or Magnum as my 2nd choice, if I was going to go with a singles babyface for my 1st round pick. They both seem somewhat premature in 1983 but there's only so many options.

Oh, well I guess I should announce I'm open to doing outside dates for The Fabs or Tully (especially Tully he doesn't like defending his title.) I don't even really mind Tully jobbing so much as long as it's to a top name babyface.
  9. I'm trying to binge watch my 10 disc Southwest 82-83 set. Halfway thru Disc 2 I have to say that I do not care for Adrian Adonis here at all. His promos are all over the place and his matches haven't been all that good (although that is somewhat typical of this promotion as a whole) Tully is great here but it's kind of weird how much he gets put over as tough by Steve Stack the announcer while Tully the character is such a piece of shit who hides behind people like bounty hunters and seems to never want to defend the Southwest title.

I was wondering how long that was going to take for you to realize the open thread was a bad idea.

All I can tell you is that it gets better. Not all that soon though. I do enjoy reading them. The DX reunion was a real low point for the whole WWE at the time.
  12. You'd mess with the Armstrong vs. Fullers, Hatfields vs. McCoys dynamic Johnny, Davey & Scott Armstrong as The Party Boys in 1988 is the worst pretty boy babyface group I've ever seen. Especially with Scott wearing his big Coke bottle glasses on TV all the time.
  13. Here is The Nightmares vs. Tommy & Johnny Rich from like the 1 episode of Continental Wrestling out there that has really good VQ. Finally, I can make someone watch The Nightmares matches I put on youtube:
  14. You would have killed Tommy Rich off by bringing in The Fabs anyway Cornette as the first manager taken is a bit surprising. Curt Hennig in Stampede with Jerry Blackwell and Bret Hart is a pretty nice roster.
  15. Fabs in Southeastern would have been something else. Their idea of pretty boy tag teams was The Rich Cousins.
  16. You can put Norvell Austin as a single now. Just didn't want that to get lost.
  17. Oh man I wanted Condrey so bad for a team I had in mind. I was holding out hope to get him in the 3rd round. Pretty smart move to take a tag team with that pick.

I'd like you guys to go with DiBiase and allow JVK to use him only if he agrees to recognize the NWA World Title as the only existing legitimate World Heavyweight title.
  19. I definitely saw him being anywhere in the 20-40 range so a late 1st round pick isn't that surprising. He is really versatile because he could be heel or face, main event or midcard, good in a tag team also.
  20. Damn I really wanted Garvin too

I guess maybe there should be an NWA Board Members thread? Where they could decide who the champ is, what his dates are etc. by voting. Maybe a subforum where you could do polls for conflicting dates. And all non-NWA territories would be able to apply for NWA membership but it would have to be approved by a majority vote of existing owners. Southwest isn't in the NWA so I don't want to start any threads for that.

dedhemingway doesn't control Race as the NWA World Champ, only once he loses the title. We haven't quite decided how to do the NWA Champ yet, at least that I know of.
  23. If you would have told me Blackwell was going to go in the 1st I would have been sure it was Dylan who took him. I never even put him on my list really because I figured he'd be gone before where I would have slotted him (3rd or 4th round)
  24. Or Naomi. Sometimes I don't even skip her matches.
