2014 Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame thread
I'm about a big of a Brock Lesnar mark as there is, but I don't see how he is a Hall of Famer. MAYBE in an MMA HOF due to how great of a draw he was and you could argue he brought a whole new audience to MMA but he shouldn't sniff a pro wrestling hall of fame even if he is one of my favorite wrestlers ever.

2014 Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame thread
Ok, just wanted to make sure. I read the discussions but I don't really have strong feelings about the WON HOF either way. I do remember the bio putting over the fact that the feud with Murdoch and Cox is what made the first Superdome show a success. (I think Murdoch's first big babyface turn, at least in that area)

2014 Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame thread
Has the research on Murdoch confirmed that he was in the main event of the first wrestling show at the Superdome? I read that in a bio on him from some old non-WON newsletter that I can't remember now and mentioned it as a point for Murdoch a year or 2 ago.

How many other wrestlers have been invited to a Presidential Inauguration?

I'm happy to see RNR Express getting so much support but am really disappointed about Wrestling II.

Dave Meltzer stuff
There is a good point in there but in his "hot promotions are what draws big crowds" argument I also think he is kind of skipping over how important individual wrestlers are in getting those promotions hot in the first place.

Current WWE
I think it would be worse if Rusev had never backed off anyone before, but we've seen him leave the ring and back down with Jack Swagger and Mark Henry so it's not completely out of character.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
So I happened to see this match listed on some St. Louis footage: Crusher Blackwell vs Tom Malley & Dewey Robertson. Assuming that Dewey Robertson is The Missing Link, that would be one of the only times I can think of a guy who has been on BOTH sides of a handicap squash match. Can anyone think of any other examples?

Current WWE
He used to namedrop the Simpsons and other WCCW stuff quite a bit back when he first started doing Smackdown (2007-ish?)

Dave Meltzer stuff
Doubt it was Bob. Just read Bob's book a week ago and he said that he had a confrontation with Michaels on an overseas tour where he threatened to kick Shawn's ass but it ended after that because Shawn didn't fuck with him again (The story includes Randy Savage as a guy who was in the locker room at the time so definitely doesn't fit the time period either). Also never got a sense from the book that he'd ever talked to Dave Meltzer or would have wanted to. Pretty good book btw.

Current WWE
I do feel like the rematch clause always existed, I'm fairly certain I remember them saying things like that when the NWA World Champion would lose his title. But it's just much more overdone now and it's an excuse to have lazy booking and keep running the same main events over multiple PPVs.

Fit Finlay
He had a feud with Rey that was probably his highest profile feud in WWE. They had some great matches on Smackdown and I think even had a PPV match or two.

What is Workrate? Does Workrate Matter?
For the stop watchers of the world, you could make work rate an actual statistic if you really wanted to. Calculate the percentage of how much of the match is actively engaged in wrestling (strikes, holds) as compared to stalling, selling, playing to the crowd etc.

Titus O' Neil
Funny you mention Batista, as Batista had put over Titus in an interview and said if he came back again that was someone he would want to work with.

Current WWE
People have been trying to start that rumor since SummerSlam. OH MY GOD A WRESTLER IS RED AND SWEATY HE'S GOING TO DIE IN THE RING! As if the hand wringers of the internet are more alert than WWE's doctors.

Titus O' Neil
I haven't been keeping up with Titus since I got rid of WWE Network but I did see the Big E., Kofi & Sheamus matches talked about here and 100% agree. Titus should be one of the top heels in WWE and not being wasted in an odd couple tag team with Heath Slater. He has size, he can work, his offense all looks nasty, he has pretty good promo skills even though they don't let him talk a lot. I have absolutely no idea why they haven't strapped a rocket to the guy. Their mis-use of Titus is one of the reasons that my interest in WWE is at an all time low. Pretty much only watching the stuff involving Brock Lesnar at this point.

Night of Champions 2014 (Live as it happens)
When they got to the stretch run and Brock put that last Kimura on I suddenly REALLY wanted to see Cena tap. I thought that they could do some really interesting stuff with Cena if Mr. "Never Give Up" tapped out and started to question himself. They could get some mileage off of teasing that he'll turn heel and then having him redeem himself, since they aren't going to pull the trigger on the turn yet (ever?)

The Nomination Thread
Unfortunately the 80s forum died so I can't link to the threads for these matches. Not to call out any names, but with some of them that I am seeing then my man Butch Reed definitely should get nominated. Butch Reed: Butch Reed vs. Dick Murdoch (10/14/85) Butch Reed vs. Buzz Sawyer (Dog Collar Match) (12/31/85) Butch Reed vs. Ric Flair (Houston 10/11/85)

50's & 60's "Wrestling from Chicago" footage
Some of the other stuff in the Davis collection sounds pretty interesting.

YouTube/Daily Motion links to WWE-owned footage
Keep in mind however that linking to large youtube collections of WWE-owned footage increases the likelihood of it disappearing.

Current WWE
I still can't believe that they booked their biggest angle around the MNF half time, and essentially advertised it as such. "Hey! Hopefully you're watching the opening of the show and not "C'Mon Man"! We are going to have a Brock Lesnar/John Cena confrontation during half time so please come back for 15 minutes later tonight!"
-
Current WWE
Surely this show ends with Brock going through a table and John Cena standing over him doing You Can't See Me with the way Vince has been insisting on Cena being booked strong.

Wrestlers you've done a 180 on.
I was NOT a Bunkhouse fan in my younger days. Thought he was one of the more boring guys in WCW and seeing him on Saturday Night or whatever the Sunday evening show was meant it was time to play with action figures. I haven't revisited his Bunkhouse Buck days, but Jimmy Golden in Southeastern/Continental was an AWESOME heel. Very underrated promo guy: (ignore the title, this starts with a great promo from Golden)
