As soon as Brock retired and people started talking about him coming back to WWE I said that he should be used to put over Sheamus after beating Cena. I don't think they see Sheamus at that level any more though.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Lots of people in wrestling wanted to be the one to manipulate Dixie Carter and be the TNA puppet master. Vince Russo has certainly gotten closer to it than anyone.

It was kind of surprising how good Stevie was in his role with the RTC yet they never really tried to keep him in that role in a different setting.

1989 Recommendations
I have what looks to be a complete run of Stampede 89 in .avi form on a seedbox on XWT-Classics. I don't have time to watch it and do recommendations but if someone is interested in using it for this project, just join XWT-Classics if you aren't already on there and grab it. There is also some Continental from 89 on there as well but it is missing a ton of shows.

So the live crowd apathy towards the Jericho/Wyatt program feels like a crowd that knows the old star is brought in only to "put over" the new guy and have seen it too many times to care any more. I'm sure this has happened before, but I can't really remember it. Maybe in Japan where "return matches" seemed to have been more common.

Titus O'Neil is the new Chris Masters, forcing me to watch Superstars or Main Event just to watch them have a good match that no one including their employer will care about.

I really wish I could see that Lawler/Steen match. That's too far from VA though. I like Lawler stealing Jimmy Hart's line about Lawler killing Andy Kaufman with piledrivers.

Didn't he already say he hit rock bottom before and write a book about how he was saved??

I was thinking of SMW when I made that post. And Continental wrestling. And Five Star Wrestling. And USWA Texas. All of which I have watched a little or a lot of recently and it's a common theme.

You know you are watching a struggling late 80s/early 90s territory when you are BOMBARDED with ads telling you that you can have wrestling fund raise for YOUR school or civic organization!

You guys are jumping really fast on this thing, where has it even been reported that the match is cancelled other than some message board post? It's not on WWE.com or 411.

It's always been terrible and always will be until they replace the terrible announcers. You could have the best coach in the world, which Vince Russo certainly is not, but they wouldn't be able to make much out of terrible players.

I also read on 411 that they moved Heyman away from Cesaro now because Lesnar is coming back soon. Soo...what exactly was the point of putting Heyman with Cesaro in the first place, and what did it accomplish?

So only 5 of those people WON'T be on the WWE Biggest Crybabies Countdown.

Yea the thing at 411 didn't say anything about the Battleground match being off, just that they wanted the focus to be on the 4 guys in the title match so they worked a Rollins injury thing that he sold so well the camera guys fell for it.

I'm not watching TNA either way so who cares. Jerry Jarrett's Diary about the early days of TNA is a great read, he seemed to know from the beginning what would happen once he saw Jeff was going to listen to Russo more than him.

I always found Terry Gordy to be very overrated also but that may be because when I first got online he was always labeled as "the best big man ever" but when I watched him I really didn't think he wrestled a "big man" style so it was a case of skewed expectations. At this point I think Matt Hardy is underrated. People got so caught up in his personal problems and weight gain that they completely forgot how he was right there competing with REY MYSTERIO for "best wrestler on TV" for a period of 2 or 3 years.

It's hard to pick someone for overrated because generally this board has popped most everyone's bubbles on that, but I will pick "pre-WWF" Curt Hennig. Everyone seems to want to paint him as one of the best in the world before WWF but I didn't see it watching the AWA set. I thought he was very good, and obviously capable of doing a lot more than he ever did in WWF but I didn't seem as a "top 10" in the world or even probably the U.S. at that time period. To me, Blackwell, Greg Gagne & pre-Vader Leon White were all bigger revelations" on that set than Hennig. Memphis_Mark had some good names for underrated but Phil Hickerson stood out to me. If he is remembered in "mainstream" wrestling circles at all it is as the fat white guy pretending to be Japanese PY Chu Hi. Phil had a long career and was involved in much better stuff than that goofy character.

I don't think that is even Sting, I remember they got mad that word got out they had an ad looking for an actor who looked like Sting.

Dragon King Karl show
Someone told me they liked a show he did recently that talked about Continental for the first 30 minutes. I'm not a podcast guy in the first place but I was not a fan. I only lasted 20 minutes because I was busy editing a list and just needed something to listen to.

Were they supposed to come unglued for that Bella handicap match? Good booking gets reactions, weak booking doesn't. Richmond is a better wrestling town than anyone gives us credit for. Look at all the DVDVR guys from around the area, this is a wrestling hotbed damn it!

Would have never believed you if you told me Jack Swagger would be the massively over babyface coming out of the Real Americans breakup and Cesaro would be the one drifting aimlessly. I want Swagger to break out that red white and blue gear he had when he won MITB.

You would think he could just get the prop guys to handle that for him. I wonder if he keeps some of his things in there.

WWE Network... It's Here
For the "people will always just bitch" side of this argument, Netflix doesn't randomly leave out episodes of series on Watch Instantly. When they put up a new season of their original content it doesn't randomly not include episode 5. I'm personally not asking for much. Even if they just take ONE territory out of their library that has a clean tape library to a do chronological run, I'd be happy with that. I already said that Mid-South & SMW would be the easiest to do. Putting up the entire SMW TV library would be easy to do chronologically and they could drag that out for well over a year of "fresh content" uploads. ECW & WCCW would seem to fall into the same category, it's not hard for me to find every episode of ECW TV that they've skipped over on the Network. Not sure on WCCW but people are saying they've left out things they already put up on WWE 24/7. I'd like to see some actual thought and effort put into the Network before I subscribe again because "HEY CHEAP PPVS!" isn't the hook for me.
