Dave Meltzer stuff
I've more amused at how hopelessly cluttered that room is.

Terrible gimmick, great match
Daniel Bryan and Mark Henry had a REALLY good lumberjack match on the 1/20/12 Smackdown. Most creative use of the gimmick I've ever seen too.

Dave Meltzer stuff
That guy is also a tool. "People wonder why I have such a "hate boner" against the sheets like the one run by Meltzer and Alvarez. Well, when they put themselves at the vanguard, it's embarrassing to me when I say I am a wrestling writer." Ha

El Dandy
There are always people who are going to immediately dismiss anyone that didn't wrestle in WWE or WCW. Or that wrestled there but did nothing of importance, especially relative to their careers elsewhere. Being frustrated about El Dandy not being taken seriously is the kind of "hardcore" vs "casual" fan argument that you'll see on plenty of different discussion boards whether it be gaming, music, movies, comic books, whatever. You can always try to educate people to broaden their horizons but you'll almost always be getting a few out of the crowd instead of a large majority of converts. So I guess to answer your question, in certain circles yes. It will always be seen as ironic. But at the same time, you have to look at the source. I would imagine most people still reading a Scott Keith blog are stuck in the Monday Night War/Attitude Era period and think anything that didn't happen in WWF or WCW between 97-2000 is inferior wrestling.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
I don't know why anyone would expect much out out of a Rotundo shoot. Nothing about the guy screams excitement. Someone whose career was essentially defined by being boring isn't the first guy I want to sit down a listen to talk for 90 minutes or whatever.

It only takes 1.

Stiff
Doubtful. Bock vs Wahoo is my biggest "I don't get it?" match of the AWA set where most everyone else praises it and I felt it was just ok really.

HHH taking over from Vince on RAW
The biggest stars ever since the 80s have been fans, or people born into the business. Hogan was recruited into the business but had been a long time fan, and idolized Superstar Billy Graham. Austin & Cena were both fans who didn't come from outside sports. The Rock comes from a wrestling family. I'm not really sure how vital it is to recruit guys from the outside, at least ones who never really watched. Kurt Angle is the exception to the rule. Brock Lesnar didn't like the life style. Bobby Lashley also quit. Jack Swagger is their latest amateur wrestling "project" and he doesn't seem like a guy who really cares about wrestling.

Current WWE
More realistic than a fight over a contract for a Japanese shampoo commercial.

A thread in which we discuss Nigel McGuinness's woes
Nigel said in the documentary that no one from WWE told him they would hire him if he got the surgery, and they wouldn't return his calls when he tried to find out if they would. Also only managed to watch an hour of the documentary before I stopped caring. There's nothing sympathetic about him at all in the movie.

WCW's Highway to Hell
It's amazing how short Russo's first run was when you think about how much hype there was for him going to WCW to be the "savior."

Stiff
I'm not saying I find it "too violent" it just seems really pointless to let someone chop your chest open until it bleeds or has huge welts when it's not a move fans buy as painful. It's mostly just seen as something that makes a loud noise.

HHH taking over from Vince on RAW
I wouldn't really call Brock's return a "last-ditch income source" The guy made millions of dollars in his UFC run. He's pretty well set for life and I assume he only went back to WWE because they offered him probably the best contract of anyone ever. Work 3 matches a year, work maybe 10 Raws to build up the PPV matches and make 7+ figures.

WCW's Highway to Hell
All the other Sid criticism you've thrown out has been perfectly valid and legit, but I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I think stiff chops are really such a pointless trope in wrestling. The fans don't really buy it as a move that hurts, it's just something to woooo at. It's not worth the welts or the sometimes bloody chest.

WCW's Highway to Hell
The best parts of WCW were things that Hogan, Bischoff, Nash etc. weren't paying attention to. Then you could get awesome stuff like the Dean vs Jericho feud w/Dean in the Ciclope costume. They COULD do long term feuds with a good payoff it's just that they never happened in the main event.

Who's the "local flavor" HOF picks for next year?
EDIT: Didn't remember that, but apparently Duggan is already in.

Who's the "local flavor" HOF picks for next year?
I would love to see them induct Butch Reed. He feels very under rated to me and it's disappointing to me that he's never even been considered worthy of discussion for the WON HOF.

WWE acquires the Watts video library
A lot of them didn't have commentary. They were house show matches and unless they got played on Power Pro they didn't have commentary. Or the more jarring examples of matches that had commentary only in the certain parts that they'd show clipped on the TV.

Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair
Most likely. In some he'd probably do better. I'd say that the younger the fan the more likely they are to vote Bret. Especially if they haven't seen a lot of Flair pre 90s.

2013 Indymania Weekend
I believe this came with the string attached that there would a later court date (which I think was yesterday) where anyone who'd had their merch confiscated could come and argue their case and perhaps get back their stuff. But it's not like anyone should be surprised that money can get you special favors in politics.

2013 Indymania Weekend
I have nothing bad to say about BSW. Ordered a shirt on there in the wrong size by accident and wrote an email asking if they could change it. Got an email back the next day saying it was taken care of. I think the shirt took like 2 weeks to get to me.
