WWE TV: July 10-16
Meltzer said that they even boo Reigns on house shows and they never really did that with Cena. I would also point out that ratings have been historically bad with Reigns and Rollins around the top of the card the last few years. The hard numbers are ratings are in the toilet and the primary audience are old men. That's not very encouraging.

My thing with Reigns is exactly like my problem with Orton. You can never really enjoy whatever Orton is doing because you know they're going to get thrust into the title picture at the exact wrong moment and usually at the expense of someone or an angle you were really enjoying.

Paige and all that
They've been kind of stuck with her. She's been hurt so they were probably keeping her around. Then the sex tape happened and there's bad optics there. Then this happens a couple of months later. They're probably just waiting until they don't have to take the PR hit for it.

Great Balls of Fire: Good, Bad, or Meh?
Brock/Joe was the first thing in a really long time that I was excited to see in a WWE ring and it was an utter disappointment. And it was made even worse by having to sit through that garbage angle after the Reigns/Braun match. I should have known better than to get excited for something when it comes to the WWE.

Current New Japan
He just hasn't done much beyond okay as a worker. This is the first thing from his indy run that was something you can hold up as being really great. Okada is the first guy to finally get something good out of him and deserves recognition for it.

Random Reasons why people stopped watching wrestling
I quit for a solid 5 years after the Benoit murders. It wasn't immediate but I gradually just stopped watching anything as it sucked any sense of fun out of it for me. I'm guessing that one doesn't count as random. Slightly off topic and similar. I lost my love for football when Junior Seau committed suicide. Same deal, still watch games but I don't have the same passion for it anymore.

Booking Talk: Signature Styles and Peak Angles
Yeah, it felt like he spent the last year or so trying to recapture the RoH/CZW feud. There was also something with the Briscoes where the programs were almost identical back to back around the same time period. My memories are really hazy from this period, I just remember feeling like the promotion was on reruns the last year he was there. I wanted to add on his waiting too long on guys. I think the problem there is he was trying to cosplay All Japan a lot with the length of title reigns and because he was doing title matches every month you would burn up your contenders too quickly vs. the 4-6 title defenses a year in All Japan. A year and a half with 6 title defenses is different than a year and a half with 24 title defenses. It worked with Joe because the promotion was new and fresh and Joe was a great champion and a long run was novel. But you get down the road to Nigel or Danielson's runs and it was obvious he was just padding their title reigns out because Gabe does long title runs. A lot of his later title runs felt like they overstayed their welcome by the end and the byproduct there is guys start slipping through the cracks. He almost always jobbed the next ace one too many times.

Booking Talk: Signature Styles and Peak Angles
No, they just want to crap on New Japan because it's popular right now. I did want to add a little on Gabe on the weakness side. I think he was guilty of repeating angles towards the end and I thought he was terrible at card placement. Some of those RoH shows got super tedious because he wouldn't throw the bathroom break matches in the right places.

Okada is wrestler of the year for being the first guy to drag something truly great out of Cody.

The XWF
I remember seeing Curt Henning was really sad on these. His face had that bloated look that really made you realize he was going to die soon. Past that. The promotion had a lot of problems from the first 3 episodes but I thought there was some potential there as well. Schiavone and Lawler were an oddball commentary team that didn't work, I hated the Piper/Sable power struggle and there were some really past their prime teams getting pushed. But with that said, the cruiserweights had a ton of potential and they kept the matches short and sweet. I would have had this on my DVR every week if it had gotten picked up by a network.

I think losing all that talent actually kept them going more than hindered them. They were starting to get stagnant with the booking and were waffling on if Okada/Tanahashi were the guy. So they lose Nakamura so they move Tanahashi down to fill that void and suddenly Okada is the clear cut top guy. That also had them get behind Omega and push him which interjected a fresh face into the mix and it also nicely happened right when it was time to push Naito with his new gimmick.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
I kind of thought the same. I always thought it was there so Jarrett could swoop in and have the copyrights and talent ready to take over when TNA fell apart.

How do you have your wrestling footage stored? What methods do you personally recommend?
I also shill it every time on here but Plex is amazing and a lot of smart TVs just look for the server now. It lets you make a folder on your PC that you can put files in and then watch on your TV. It's the best thing that ever happened to my wrestling watching.

I have binders that hold about 200 DVDs at a time. You can get those anywhere and they are easy to put on shelves.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
I didn't watch wrestling for a solid 5 years after the Benoit murders. Not right away but I gradually lost interest and didn't come back until I started getting into Chikara in 2012.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
Yeah but think about having your whole promotion built a really watered down version of an nWo tribute group.
-
Ring of Honor Wrestling
The Bullet Club is the worst in RoH. I went to a show last year and they're supposed to be heels but then pander to the crowd. It really fucked up the whole dynamic of the promotion.
-
Ring of Honor Wrestling
I hope they aren't that shitty of a company to let him wrestle.
-
Ring of Honor Wrestling
Dalton Castle and the Boys won the six mans on the show.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
His reign was slightly better than the Tyler Black run IMO.
-
Ring of Honor Wrestling
Yes. They're wasting their most popular guy in six mans while they're letting Cody cosplay as a workrate guy.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
Cody Rhodes as RoH Champion is just absolutely rock bottom for the company.

Any other longterm fans starting to feel alienated by the current fanbase?
Sometimes it's just as fun to watch a guy dressed as a boar wrestle a guy dressed as a frog as it is to watch some super serious classic.

I could get behind two weeks of Makabe yelling fuck you at everyone in his block.

WWE Money In The Bank 2017
Getting mad at the bookers. I don't see why it's that ridiculous to see that roster of talent and not be pissed off at least a bit that the product is as tedious as it is in a weekly basis. I don't get why more people don't realize that anything remotely interesting from Raw goes up on Youtube and you can just watch the Joe/Lesnar stuff and move on.
