Wrestling before or after 1996?
I think the WWE became a good match factory sometime around late 1999 to the current day. So fans have a base expectation for match quality these days that wasn't necessarily there in the old days. You kind of get spoiled when a "bad" PPV probably has 2 good matches on it and a bunch of average ones and you can see a couple of good matches weekly for free on TV.

Wrestling before or after 1996?
I would go with post-1996. While I love the stuff in the 1980s there was just so much great stuff from the 00s and 10s that are awesome. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking of NWA Wildside, NWA Anarchy, IWA MS, RoH, DDT, CMLL during Mistico's run, Mutoh's 2001 run, NXT, Smackdown for like the entire decade, that 2 or 3 year run where WWE ECW was legit great stuff, 1997 WCW and WWE, Chikara, Dragon Gate and the list just goes on.

NWA-TNA 2003 aka a passive-agressive way to deal with depression
Oh I forgot. It does start to get shitty when Russo comes back but the first year and a half of the Knockouts division is pretty awesome.

Where the Big Boys Play #84 - Clash of the Champions 21
Yeah. When I podcast I have my tablet sitting next to me with all of my notes. The other benefit is you can share your notes with each other. When I interview someone I share an outline with them. Works great.

I have to disagree with Parv on Ventura being the best color guy ever. I think Dutch Mantell is a better color guy overall.

You're missing out on the UWF. It's charmingly bad.

Abyss gets better in the ring and they do give him James Mitchell as a mouthpiece. You might still hate him but the inring quality gets a little better. The Fox Sports version of Impact has some decent stuff and the concept is an interesting take with the time limits and such. But things don't really pick up until Impact goes online only between TV deals and the first year of Spike TV.

Yeah, it's pretty bad until they get monthly PPV.

Mantell. It was a semi big deal at the time because he turned the IWA around.

They were supposed to do the original Bound for Glory that year headlined by Jarrett vs. Hogan for the NWA Title.

Not everyone has the luxury of listening at work and stuff. I don't mind long podcasts because I always need something to listen to at work but I don't think it's unreasonable for people to want a podcast that's 30-60 minutes.

I'm going to take the shorter podcast idea and try to come up with a 30 minute format for a weekly podcast.

And to jump to the defense of the Titans show. The bad episodes are better than the good ones because of the hilarity that follows.

I would love to see Between the Sheets do some best of episodes where they splice together say an episode on the dysfunction of the GWF over the course of several episodes or something like that where you can see a real life story play out.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
It's counter-productive to a market like Columbus. This is their third trip here and they've done weaker houses with each show. I know it's going to be a B show so I want to know who they're going to bring in. Are you going to have at least Moose and Castle there? It's not like NXT where they don't have to announce a card and will sell out in 15 minutes here. You come to town and put on 3 good shows and people are going to be interested. You come in, put on 2 mediocre cards and then take a year and a half off you might want to advertise a card.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
To further bitch about RoH. They have a show coming up in Columbus on June 5th. Not a single match has been announced for it yet.

The relation between execution and characters
Before they fucked him up, I loved Sheamus because of how he wrestled. He went out there and wrestled like you thought a soccer hooligan would in the ring.

Big E is a good comparison to Elgin. Same build except he's bigger than Elgin. So you'd essentially be bringing in a mini Big E.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
The problem with Elgin in the WWE is he won't be unique looking at all. He's a relatively big guy for the indies but you get him in WWE and he's just going to be a short guy doing a strong man routine when he's smaller than half the roster.

A " total is greater than the sum of his parts" wrestlers
How about Giant Baba? I've always described him as the Wrestling equivalent of a bumblebee. You take one look at him and he has the appearance of a total stiff. And while not super athletic, he always kind of surprises you by the fact that he is kind of agile, he can bump and has good matches despite sometimes a weak looking offense.

Would you want something like Pardon the Interruption on ESPN? Like the topics limited down to so many minutes as well?
