Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Charges won't be filed against Enzo. I don't find that vee surprising given the credibility issues the accuser had and how murky the situation was. Hopefully he uses this experience to stop being a fuck up.

How do you factor in agents/trainers when evaluating wrestlers?
I think the value there is in volume. If we saw the next 6 months there we would know who was effecting what.

How do you factor in agents/trainers when evaluating wrestlers?
I think with agents, they interject themselves into the matches in ways that the workers can't necessarily overcome. Take the AJ/Nakamura Backlash match. I don't care how good you are in the ring, you aren't saving a match with that kind of finish. Look at how many good to great matches are tossed into the dust bin of history because it didn't have a conclusive finish or a really bad one. An agent could have 10% input into a match and if that 10% includes the most important parts like the finish then the wrestlers can only do so much.

Kevin Owens
Yeah, he kind of lost me in 2017 but I've started enjoying him a lot again in 2018.

In the sense of math. Things that people see and remember... fuck no. Eyewitness testimony is some of the worst evidence you can present in a trial.

That's one area where I get annoyed with people that try to minimize Stan Lee's contributions to Marvel Comics. Yeah, Jack Kirby's art is great and Ditko's Spiderman is iconic. But what makes those Silver Age Marvel stories what they are is the unified voice from Lee.

I started to wonder how training played a role into things when New Japan World hit and I could see the Young Lions work more. They send guys out there that have wrestled a handful of matches and they look more competent than guys like Mojo Rawley who had been doing it for years. And it was an across the board thing.

What do you consider to be your promotion
ECW really captured a certain subculture of the mid 90s. It's kind of the wrestling equivalent to grunge hitting the music scene.

Recommend Me Joshi
I did some looking and reading and decided to go with 1989 as my start date as that seemed like a transition phase for AJW.

What do you consider to be your promotion
Chikara was also my home promotion for a couple of years. After the Benoit murders, I stopped watching wrestling for several years. I just lost all of my love for it. Then I started paying attention to Chikara during the 12 Large Summit tournament. The light hearted comic book style approach really helped me remember why I loved wrestling. They lost me with the shut down angle but there was a solid 3 year period where I loved Chikara.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
I think that's part of why I like PWG so much now. The crowds feel genuine in their love of what they are watching. It doesn't feel like they are playing along, it feels like a bunch of people just having a good time watching wrestling together.

What do you consider to be your promotion
This is kind of similar to the Dr. Who question of who is your Doctor. When you think of your favorite promotion what is it. What promotion is like going back and visiting old friends when you watch it. I'll start off with WCW. When I became a fan of wrestling in 1997 it was with WCW. I've watched WWE for a long time but it's never been my promotion, it's always just been what's on TV and available to me. WCW is home. Watching some old stuff is like checking in with my buddies Sting, Flair, etc. WWE has never had that same familiar vibe to me. So what would be your promotion?

There's a period in late 1990 where Dusty kind of breaks out of the cartoon shit and old Dusty comes back. Some of the promos he cut after Dibiase fucked with Dustin are just outstanding and really stood out at the time.

WWE TV 05/07 - 05/13
It shows his immaturity and stupidity. The fact that he died on that particular hill shows what a moron he is. It also shows the fact that he's immature because he should have never asked, done it and then when it bombed just said "I was feeling it, I made a mistake, I'm sorry."

Dave Meltzer stuff
They had finally managed to damage him with the Reigns program right before he retired. I think it's only a matter of time. Working with Big Cass was a really bad idea on their part.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I think they are just incompetent when it comes to maintaining momentum. Look how fast they killed the Hardys.

Who Booked This? The Podcast Thread
Just throwing it out there because I think it would lead to an interesting conversation and the match is a train wreck. The SWS match with Tenta and Kitao shooting on each other.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
I have been thinking of ideas for an ajpw podcast for a year or so but don't know how I would make it/record it. The ajpw archive had a lot of good stuff from the 50s-early 70s but that's been gone for a couple of months now. Someone did like a 600 gig torrent of All Japan from 1953 to 1995 which kind of inspired me to do it. There is a solid amount of JWA footage. A lot of it isn't full matches but it's even got a Rikidozan sumo match in there.
