Draft discussion, analysis and trash talk
I really debated drafting a full time tag team since I won't pick again until the end of the fourth round, but I really needed somebody who could be used as top babyface. Snuka was becoming insanely over in the WWF and the WWA has really not seen anything like him to this point so I think he could get over without a problem, especially with a guy like Larry Zbyszko bad mouthing him.

I hesitated with the Dory Funk Jr. pick as Funk is in his 40s and I want to go with a younger roster of talented people, but I also want someone who can wrestle with anybody and help put over the best of that young talent when it's time to get them to the next level. Plus in hindsight we know we can get almost another 30 years out of him if need be

1983 Tentative Rosters
Wrestling Data is back up if there is anybody we need to verify. I found The Spoiler working the Maritimes in August and September (looks like the lost the title to Leo Burke at the season finale) but nothing between March and July so him being unavailable is correct. I could have sworn he worked one of the Texas promotions that summer but I guess not

Of my top 10 still on the board, I should be able to grab two of them since I have the first pick of round 3. If I can I'll be in good shape.

Thread for keeping track of draft picks and who is controlling who
Am I missing The Spoiler (Don Jardine)? Pretty sure he was still around in July 1983

I lost at least 8-10 guys I wanted for number one just with the saves. Had Piper penciled in for number one heel and Terry Funk's on one of his retirements at this point and both were off the board. Larry Z still being available was almost too perfect for the role I'm looking for though.

What makes this fun is looking at my list of guys and seeing who is getting picked and who is sticking around. Especially when we hit, say, round 6 and you start thinking "So and so is still here but I really need babyfaces" and determining whether to get your perceived top guy or grab babyfaces instead.

Draft & ongoing booking project interest?
The only reason I care is it's the difference between four Saturdays and five in July and I need to know how many I have to set up my first round of booking. Either is cool with me, I've honestly been making plans assuming the 1983 calendar anyway

While I'm sure I could have probably gotten Zbyszko in the second round, I want to build my company around a heel that everybody wants to see get his ass kicked. Zbyszko fits that bill between his stalling tactics and his loud mouth. Plus Bruno was a top draw in the WWA as a special attraction so the "I retired Bruno" schtick should be great for heat.

I would say Ellering is a special case since he was their legit manager but it should count as three picks.

Draft & ongoing booking project interest?
For those who use TEW 13, as we go along I'm going to try to set up a database based on this draft. If anybody would like that when we're done (and if I don't slack on it between this and the other three projects I'm working on) let me know.

I agree with random first round and snake the rest of the way

1983 Rulebook
I am quite OK with all of this.

Draft & ongoing booking project interest?
While random is the only chance in hell I have, I'm not opposed to any other method. I'm more focused on how I'm going to book the first few months.

Draft & ongoing booking project interest?
The initial TEW rankings seem weird. Mind you this is from January 1 and not July 1 so this might not be 100% accurate, plus unless there's been an update I missed ICW is not actually in the TEW mod. JCP would not actually be in the top 3. AWA WWF World Class GCW CWF JCP Maple Leaf Southwest Memphis Central States Mid-South International Stampede WWC PNW Southeastern WWA

1983 Tentative Rosters
I found little to no info on him but I show somebody called Abdullah the Great was one half of the WWA World Tag Team Champions as of June 1983 (teaming with Jerry Valiant) and holding them until January 7, 1984 so I guess we should include him. I doubt anybody is drafting him unless I decide to in the final round, but he's there.

Have you seen that roster? There isn't much else to choose from.

I came in at the last second and just took WWA because they were available if that helps,

Draft & ongoing booking project interest?
So if I understand the rules correctly, since Dick the Bruiser owned the WWA I would get him regardless and still get someone else on that roster to save. If I'm correct on that, I'll save Bobo Brazil for lack of a better option

1983 Tentative Rosters
Do I HAVE to keep someone from WWA because I'm not sure I like any of these options. EDIT: At least there are a couple of young guys with potential so I will keep someone but damn that roster is like 15 years too late.

This will be fun. Looking forward to trying to make the WWA watchable.
