  1. Beauty Pair/Fujiwara/Meiko are easy ones for me in Japan. The US/Canada choices basically boil down to how much you think being a modern draw matters. Roman is the only real lock, but there are arguments for half a dozen others that are all very different. Like, Punk, by metrics of this HOF, should be a shoe-in. But recent events are going to influence that way more than the 15 active years that proved he was unquestionably an influential, drawing, good worker. But then do you give credit to Moxley for being the true catalyst for AEW when he jumped and being with the Shield? Is Rollins as a top secondary draw worthy of discussion? I keep getting sucked in year after year just because I like seeing the discourse just absolutely fall to shit, but the popular discourse is not nearly as enticing as the edge cases. Slaughter needs to get in at some point given some of the other folks who are in.
  2. Cardblade the best draw they have anyways
  3. Ratings barely matter too (blown out of proportion relative to TV contracts), but whatever allows you to back up the narrative. MLB playoffs were all over last night, too, and Dynamite is moving next week to accommodate. Both matter as much as you want them, too, and my qualifier is that when you see SUCH a discrepancy, it should be a red flag as to why that’s the case. Context matters for ratings just like the YT numbers. If the game is to just cherry pick things to make a point, the discussion goes nowhere. There aren’t “lessons” to be learned here. It’s clear that Tony is hands-off with a lot and trusts talent to come up with most things, which is highly beneficial for on-screen, but not great for business. He books in bunches and only has a long-term view on a couple of stories. He’s also overly reactive, if not impulsive in a lot of ways. That’s not a good recipe for success if you’re constantly burning through things just because you want to see the matchup.
  4. Here are the YouTube views for Dynamite segments last night: -Cole/Roddy skit: 32K -Storm/Blue: 145K -Omega/Jericho tag: 151K -MJF Beatdown: 343K -MJF/Cole skit: 140K -Acclaimed: 42K -Wardlow: 181K -Toni segment: 64K -Fenix/Nick Jackson: 120K -Edge segment: 1.7M -Edge overrun: 639K Look, I know people want some of the long-time AEW folks to get their shine, but one of the great ways of determining interest is looking at baseline engagement numbers. Those aren’t just a tiny bit better than the top acts; those are 5-10 standard deviations above the norm for AEW vids. That’s what Edge brings. That’s basically where Punk was trending. It’s what got LA Knight his push. This shit matters and it’s why certain moves are made.
  5. I know this isn’t what most folks want from AEW but this is good shit right here.
  6. Only question is who Cardblade will end up dressing as for Halloween.
  7. Ospreay signing with WWE would show how much of a failure their own development is in a lot of ways, which would be hilarious. Also, just having him feud with Ricochet isn’t enough when there’s an aura that there isn’t much room for more top end talent. Trying to tell the maximalist of all maximalist wrestlers to work on a weekly basis and house shows when he’s cutting promos about his body already breaking down is a choice, too.
  8. Not only that, but it’s refreshing because it makes his appearances mean more and allows the matches to mean more. Not everyone has to be Orange Cassidy.
  9. She’s also from Seattle so her getting highlighted was another reason, as well. Can’t be slapping down $50 on every AEW PPV, but will try and check things out if they do show up on Max.
  10. Have to imagine that’s the announcement. Would seem odd not for it to be. Danielson/Sabre is gonna slaaaaaaaap.
  11. Lesson learned: Talk shit about dead people, get rewarded.
  12. Seriously, get rid of that damn ramp.
  13. Oh those rumors have been percolating for a long, long time.
  14. LA Knight so over they refunded tickets to SmackDown! because of his positive COVID test. Only happens for the Big Dog or Rollins, normally. And CENA was on the show. CENA. Whose game is it, bubba? YEAH
  15. White/Andrade was a banger too, goddamn.
  16. Cardblade with the headset on >>>>>>>>
  17. Nope. Part of a list of releases. He had asked for his many times and was granted. Riddick Moss, Elias, Emma, Aaliyah, and Rick Boogs also confirmed.
  18. Adam Cole twisting his ankle on the sprint down was hilarious. Choking out Joe with the tag rope is some good NY mob bullshit.
  19. I think he got dropped on his crown the first time. Looked a bit gnarly.
  20. They all deserve to die horrible deaths.
  21. The train match went 30. What the fuck?
  22. It’s world news. Pretty great publicity stunt.
  23. This dude also fucking worked with Hashimoto in Japan so I think whatever he saw for ZERO-ONE just made him bring that mentality back.
  24. They’re feeding Cena and Rocky to Theory in every attempt to give him the rub and it’s not gonna work. Amazing.
