He'll be on the list. One of the most dynamic wrestlers I've ever seen. Will be hard to place him, but I could see him breaking into my Top 50.

Definitely soured on him over the years. As big as I was on him when he first became well known, I don't see him as a candidate now. One thing that is interesting to me is whether he'll be able to work within the WWE style that well. If that's the case, maybe something changes in a few years.

Is there enough footage of Thesz that can put him amongst the top guys here? Thesz is one of those guys I'm not too knowledgable about from a footage perspective.

I could see him sneaking into my Top 100. One of the greatest spectacle workers ever, and I'm big on spectacles.

Don't think Taue really "turned a corner" in 1995 so much as he was just given a chance to shine. Loved his stuff teaming with Jumbo, and even with Kawada/Misawa being at the forefront of their early tag feuds, he still has a ton of parts to his matches where he showed he was great. As epic as the Kawada matches were with Misawa, Taue's work against Misawa was just as good, if not better in some ways. For his "limitations," he knew how to work them into matches that were as smart as anyone else could. Best Nagata match ever. Possibly the best Kobashi GHC defense, although the Ogawa match is my favorite. I'll defend his 30-minute draw with Misawa before the Kobashi match, as well. I will have him in my Top 25.
  6. Ricky by a good margin, and that's not a knock on Bobby. Like I said, I'll hear a case for Ricky as the best tag wrestler of all time. At the very least, the best babyface tag wrestler of all time. Obviously he's a great seller, but the way he helped lay out matches, all the unique finishes, really dynamic offense, great fire...he's the first guy that comes to mind when I think of a babyface in a tag setting. Off the top of my head, if I have Ricky in the 60s-70s, Bobby is in the 80s, maybe 90s in a Top 100.
  7. For someone with such a short peak, he really did have some tremendous times as a top guy. Would have heard arguments for him as the best worker in the world in 2002. I'd have to think long and hard about him not making a Top 100, but it's gonna be close.
  8. I remember loving a singles match he had against Misawa in 1991 and I liked the Freebirds stuff enough, but I don't see him making a Top 100 list if we're basing this mostly on work. I think there are too many high-end candidates. Gordy was damn good, but much like the ol' Gordy List for the WON HOF, he might be the guy who ends up being the cutline for this thing.

He'll be up there on the list for me. Not sure how high, but he'll be up there. Forget baby face tag wrestler. Not sure there was a better tag wrestler ever than Morton.

I have him Top 25 for sure, maybe even Top 15. Best super heavy ever, one of the better sellers ever, great carrier, worked a bunch of different styles well. You had to basically fit into his style of match in a lot of ways, but that didn't stop the matches from being great.

I never got into Maeda, even with him and Fujinami having the incredible 6/12/86 match. Have a few things coming up to watch where it'll give me a better look at him, but right now, I don't see him making my Top 100.
  12. Top 10 easy, maybe even Top 5. Like Ditch said. 21 years with what he did is downright remarkable, and when he hit the right notes, he was as good as anyone.

Probably the most variation on ballots is going to be with Han. If someone puts him Top 10, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. I could also see some people leave him off the ballot completely. He'll be on my list, and I'll have a tough time figuring out where to place him. Probably the most fluid wrestler I've ever seen, and that's saying something with all the luchadors that are a part of this.

I remember reading on DVDVR during the 2000 voting and a couple other places that the match wasn't really regarded as "great" and I guess that's where I took that from. Should have avoided the sweeping generalization there, but I always felt it was as good a tag match that was wrestled in the 2000s. Probably should have said that instead of what I said in the first place...

Can't see him making a Top 100 like this. Primarily a tag worker, he was a good mid card guy for a while, but his work never screamed to me that he was outstanding in that role. Put him and Bobby Eaton on this list and he's below Eaton for me without a doubt.

He'll be on here for me. People don't really like the 12/14/00 match but he was incredible in it, and his run as the old codger defender of all things AJPW is a career highlight. Completely underrated.
  17. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
One of the great catalysts in wrestling history. He always adds something to a match. Loved his AJPW run. Easy Top 50 candidate, but not sure I can put him Top 25.
  18. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
Not enough yet. He's been good in the last 18 months or so, but before then? Not really.
  19. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
Need to see more of him but can't see him not making a top 100 like this.
  20. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
No chance. Him being a top guy for as long as he has been is one of the greatest cons ever.
  21. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
Huge peaks. He's on the list but it'll vary for me. Want to see a little bit more of him still.
  22. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
He'll be on this list for me. His championship reign was one of my favorite things in the last few years and he's one of the smartest workers in the world.
  23. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
Can't see him as a Top 100 guy, but not sure there is anyone in the last decade that could put together a better spectacle of a match.
  24. Timbo Slice replied to Grimmas's topic in Nominees
No chance he makes my Top 100. Never saw him in the best guy in any of the matches he was in that were considered great.
  25. Probably a Top 10 guy for me. If not there, Top 20. To me, I can't think of anyone else who personified lucha libre. He's always a treat to watch, even with him not showing up as much on tape in his later years. Wouldn't be surprised if someone put him #1.
