  1. Damn. I'd rather work on mousetraps than legos.
  2. I noticed this going through this year's PWI 500. Just four wrestlers in the top 100 are listed above 300 lbs. Looking at 1991's initial list, I count 13 who credibly top 300 lbs. and that's without looking up Demolition or Jeff Gaylord.
  3. Not a fan of Penn & Teller's Fool Us I take it?
  4. I attended Impact's show in Scranton Sunday night. Reasonable price ($20 for front row), close to my house, easy call. They were actually working with a local promotion called Pennsylvania Premier Wrestling. They set up at the Steamtown Mall. Really a minor league feel, PPW was running the show and venue and Impact provided the talent and ring. It was enjoyable. I'm trying to go to smaller shows and as long as it starts on time and everything is professional they're really quite enjoyable. I'm finding it more fun to sit close and root for talent you can correspond with. And I've really enjoyed Ethan Page as a live performer.

  6. Impact is running shows with PPW in Pennsylvania this weekend. In my quest to watch more local wrestling, I'm checking out their show Sunday in Scranton. I haven't watched Impact/TNA in years, but they have a decent roster yet.
  7. That’s the weird thing about these shows. I can understand wanting the big stars. But does anyone really need Mike Kanellis or whoever to work 60 seconds just so you can say you have a 50 man battle royal or whatever?
  8. That's my line of speculation as well. Delaying the departure just a few hours screws up Vince's live television show.

I assume they disassemble the scaffold after that match like they did at (I think) Starrcade ‘87. But it feels unnecessary.
  10. The only drama to me about Cain Velasquez is whether he's sticking around or if this is a one-off. Strowman/Fury is interesting because I'm a sucker for boxer vs. wrestler matchups. I'll be stunned if Fury loses though. The rest is meh. I never liked a tag team turmoil match even in my best days.
  11. It's newsworthy. But I can't imagine a world where I'm allowed to sit and watch 4-5 hours of wrestling midday on a Halloween that falls on a weekday, even if I wanted to.

My head hurts thinking of the engineering logistics of running a Wargames match and a scaffold match on the same card.
  13. Just following in the footsteps of Ross' mentor, Cowman Bill Watts

I feel like WWE is basically trapped. They can't possibly put together a creatively fulfilling product while filling seven plus hours of programming a week. And they can't cut back on their quantity without tanking their business model. I don't think it improves when Vince departs. It becomes a corporate monolith whose top priority is to churn out content regardless of quality.
  15. It's a classic interview like Flair after Starrcade '84 or Lawler after Superclash III. It's also a complete heel promo.
  16. I went to a local Indy show a few nights ago. No alcohol but the crowd was engaged the whole evening. I think ticket prices are a factor as well as arena design. Modern arenas and stadiums keep fans at a greater distance than in the past. If you sit front row second level at the Wells Fargo Center you’re further away than when you sat in the same seat at the Spectrum.
  17. Categories would work better if you had a system like the Boxing HOF where at least one person was chosen from each category.

I had a purchase of Craig Ferguson tickets pop up as TM *SCOTTY MCCREERY.
  19. The issue with a heel authority figure is that you have to have a reason he/she can't do whatever they want. A benevolent boss from above holding the sword of Damocles over their head if they stray too far out of line. Edit: I said boss, but it could be something like the Undertaker at Over the Edge '98. Something that provides boundaries to the character.

According to an email blast, nxt will continue to air on the network (on demand) on thursdays.

I feel people are burnt out on WWE programming. The last year and a half they've built to several supershows like Saudi, Australia and the usual PPVs, while presenting 5 hours of programming a week on cable tv. It's good for the short term, but overexposure can kill interest long term. Doing another two hour show each week feels like insanity.

I feel like of all the WWE shows, NXT UK may actually be the best at utilizing their female talent.

I'm assuming King Kong Czaja doesn't count.
  24. An absolute legend. I’d be hard pressed to think of many others who could go on national tv and expose the business and get away with it. Race had so much respect that he didn’t need to answer to anyone.

Hardcore Heaven ‘94 still has the RFVideo.com bumper at the end The end of Funk/Cactus with fans burying the Public Enemy with chairs is every bit as batshit crazy in retrospect.
