People get hung up on the idea of a statute of limitations. Personally, I'm not really sure where I stand on the matter in entirety. But there are real people that Orton hurt that have to live with that long after Orton "grew up." The bigger issue to me though is what this says about WWE's corporate culture. Every story I've heard from the 2004-07 era paints that locker room as an absolute cesspool. And while talent bears responsibility, it does not appear WWE took any corrective steps whatsoever.

Looking at the stars of wrestling today, I'm struck by how few young wrestlers there are at a high level. (Speaking male wrestlers here. Female wrestling sees far more turnover.) WWE still has only one male aged 28 or younger on their main roster, Bo Dallas. As a test, the first WWF Pay Per View I watched, Survivor Series 1990, had six wrestlers out of 40 younger than 28. Either the industry has a dearth of young wrestlers or more likely, they aren't being pushed by WWE. So who are the best of the next generation currently floating around the Indies, Mexico, Japan, etc.?

Freddie Blassie in his book tells a story of Volkoff tipping him after an interview. Volkoff fled communism and made a name for himself as a professional wrestler here. He's a bit maligned, not really ranked as a worker by modern, casual fans. But he was a good hand and main evented in many places. And everything I've heard about him indicates he was a better person than a wrestler.

Readers put too much stock in them and ignore the balance of the review. For a good reviewer that's frustrating.

Given that Netflix recently ran Fuller House and Roseanne was one of ABC's biggest hits (and a dozen other examples), I think there's a huge market for nostalgia in general. Always has been really, the '90s were full of movies based on '60s sitcoms like Beverly Hillbillies, Addams Family, Flintstones, etc.

It was cool, in as far that Gorilla in his heyday in the ring could be seen as a 60's-70's version of Vader. A big guy but technically sound. This may not be a popular opinion, especially now, but I think what happened to him in the WWF was as much his own doing as it was theirs. He was getting older, and their repeated requests to him to lose weight weren't without merit. That said, they could have done a better job of protecting him and using him better in some instances. Overall, it's just really weird that he was there in the first place. He couldn't have lost as much face in Japan for doing jobs to Hogan and the Orndorff incident, then he might have when he signed with WCW's competition. Vader said on Austins Podcast that he was injured. The suspension bought him recovery time but he still wasnt healed by Wrestlemania XII.

We're way beyond credibility being tremendously important in professional wrestling, but how do you lose to a rank amateur in an MMA contest and then ever present that you have any credibility as a wrestling champion? He looks like any heavyweight with the slightest legitimate credential would eat him for lunch.

Picked up the Jerry Lawler dvd at FYE for $5. Really enjoying this doc.
