  1. I understand the point, to a degree. Wrestling that looks a little sloppy doesn't take me out of the moment, as much as wrestling that looks too soft does, which is oddly enough one of my issues with Shawn. (I say that really hoping I didn't just accidentally turn this into another Shawn Michaels thread.) So I'll clarify my point: How moves look is indeed important. But it's much easier for me to buy the idea of a move barely connecting or looking sloppy still doing some damage than it is that a move that looks really light did any damage.
  2. Also, does looking good mean looking like it hurts or does it mean being executed gracefully? Because a guy with arms the size of Cena using all of his strength to push his fists into my nose doesn't sound that pleasant. Is Masa Chono's version of the hold really that much better?
  3. Just about any move, no matter how ineffective or dumb it may look, can get over in wrestling if sold properly and treated as important. I don't see the significance of all moves having to "look" good.
  4. Hmmm, so will Scott D'Amore market it?
  5. I'm using this thread to list everything that I either want to rewatch or seek out and watch for the first time when going back through the yearbooks when they're done. I'll keep editing this as I discover more things. Matches that I have pegged for rewatch are things that I either really enjoyed the first time around, matches I may have underrated or the things that have stayed in my memory bank the longest. New matches are in blue. 6. John Cena is a guy I really like. I think he's a really good wrestler. But I don't think he'd make my top 100. That is in no way a criticism of him. It's more that there are a lot of wrestlers I'd put above him.
  7. Must log in to read. What is the topic?
  8. Well, yes. They thought Edge was a good actor.
  9. Punishing people on TV is a concept I just don't get, especially now when wins and losses mean nothing and wrestler motivations seem to be different than they were in the past. I'LL HAVE THIS GUY THAT WANTS BIGGER PAYOFFS DO A JOB TO SOMEONE ON TELEVISION. THAT'LL SHOW HIM.
  10. Loss replied to Dylan Waco's topic in The Microscope
I'm not putting up some of these names because I think they're better, but rather because they are worth discussing in comparison with Patera: Adrian Adonis Iron Sheik Ivan Koloff Greg Valentine
  11. Loss replied to Dylan Waco's topic in The Microscope
The only two I can think of are Sting and Lex Luger.
  12. I have a feeling that if she wasn't able to fund her own campaign so much, no way would she have the establishment support she has.
  13. OUTSTANDING.
  14. Vince, Heenan, Flair and Hogan are the big ones that come to mind.
  15. Loss replied to Loss's topic in 1996
Thought it was a good match when I watched it, but not Top 100 material. I will be rewatching all of this after all the 90s are done to try to take another look at stuff like that and see if I had a brainfart or if I stand by what I thought the first time around.
  16. Yes, but where is the heat going to go? If they were being pushed as a main event group toward matches with Austin, Rock and Undertaker, sure. Go for it. But yeah, the heat for these things tend to go more on the promotion than the heels themselves. WWE actually marketed an Unamericans shirt with the American flag upside down. I'll be surprised if that wasn't a money loser.
  17. I just realized I should use an example from RAW instead of pay-per-view -- the one where Shawn was picking his nose with the Canadian flag.
  18. Yeah, I don't think it could be done safely at this point, and I'm not sure it would get the right kind of heat.
  19. Loss replied to jdw's topic in 1994
We don't know yet. We'll see where we stand after all the 90s are done.
  20. I was responding to Nintendo Logic pointing out Dave saying that in the past, flag desecration would have resulted in lost TV.
  21. Shawn Michaels humped the Canadian flag in 1997 on a pay-per-view. WWF didn't lose TV. Bill Watts was buried under a Russian flag in the UWF. They didn't lose TV.
  22. Loss replied to jdw's topic in 1994
It was a timing issue. We didn't have it, and it was the only thing we were waiting on, so we released the yearbook without it. It will go on the Errata.
  23. It's unfortunate when even wrestling can't exploit real emotions anymore.
  24. Wrestling in general is fairly tasteless. Some of the best talkers of all time could not succeed in such a controlled, sanitized environment. Yes, it's a little classless, but he's a heel. Then again, maybe WWE was right to get rid of him because everything everyone says on WWE TV is filtered through the voice of one person, and that's something everyone knows. To the public, "AW" didn't say this, "Vince McMahon" or "WWE" said this.
