Dave Meltzer stuff
I will point you to this thread where this has been hashed out: Are psychology, "logic" and storytelling within a match overrated? Feel free to bump the thread to add your own thoughts if you like.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Where I differ with Dave is that I don't think at the core, what makes a match fundamentally good or bad ever changes. Where I also differ from him is that watching old footage does not mean ignoring intent or context. I don't expect to see 60s matches worked 80s style. But I do think there is universal criteria that makes a match good that is broad enough to take the context into consideration. I can watch a 1985 match and a 2005 match side-by-side and easily say what I think is better, and I think I'm being fair to both in doing so. Dave had Jeff Bowdren do a list of the top 100 matches of the 1980s. Should that list be criticized for judging early 80s matches on late 80s standards?

Side question that maybe I'll understand more when I watch the '94 yearbook: Why Kawada? Misawa held the TC most of the year and was the top guy. Why did Kawada have the stronger case of the two?

Dave in a post on Sabu: I would love for someone to debate him about this back and forth. I'd love to even do it myself.

Thanks for checking those out. Will be good to include some JWP. I've never seen The Scorpion.

Most de-motivated worker and when
From my recent 1995 viewing, I'd have to say that washed up, horribly booked Ric Flair still had the best year in the ring of anyone in the company. No great matches, but two or three really good ones, and he made many bad matches far less bad.

Chris Jericho is overrated
People who were missing Shawn Michaels in 1998-1999 expected him to ease into that role. I guess there are similarities between the two, but I think they may have been overblown. Jericho I do think was the natural choice to be the top star in the company when Austin and Rock left, and building him up more during the boom might have set him up for a nice run. He definitely had a special crowd connection. But it didn't happen.

Alex Wright was an AMAZING heel. He probably got more heat than nearly anyone in the company during parts of 1997.

Chris Jericho is overrated
God yes regarding Jericho being bad in CMLL. The Jericho match where he teamed with Ultimo against Dandy and Casas was terrible, and was built around making him look good. It was worked elimination style. Ultimo went down early and Jericho came back to beat both Dandy and Casas. So much talent trying to carry him and they couldn't seem to pull it off. I still say that is the only actively bad match I have ever seen involving Negro Casas, which is quite an accomplishment.

"Best" and "hottest" are two different things. The question is poorly phrased and I could see confusion over how to answer that. Not that I'm taking up for people who did the poll, but the question is really ambiguous.
