[1995-02-18-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair
Too lazy to look up the buyrate for SuperBrawl, but if it was good, Flair deserves part of the credit, as he was a key part of the build. Flair does his first live interview since his retirement and it's a good one. Flair says he is tired of watching wrestling on TV, and that he's either going to buy WCW from Ted Turner, become an advisor to someone or get back in otherwise somehow. He says he won't wrestle, but he still has a lot to offer. He winked at Vader to make it obvious to everyone at home that he'll have a role in the main event, and there we go.

[1995-02-18-SMW-TV] Buddy Landell and Dirty White Boy
The most expensive suit Buddy Landell owns just being a blazer and slacks is why Buddy Landell is awesome. They recap him beating Tracy Smothers and Dirty White Boy, and he refers to himself as the man that stirs the drink in SMW. Jim Ross points out that he is leaving out important details when he says that he has beaten all these guys without mentioning the circumstances gets an amusing reaction from Buddy: "I'm a guy that likes to just read the end of a book." He mentions the Dirty White Girl and starts tearing into her, saying her nickname is Trigger and she's been ridden by many cowboys. Dirty White Boy runs out and chokes him by the tie and they have a great brawl. He ends up stripping him down to his underwear and he takes off running. This worked even better with Buddy mentioning in advance he was wearing his most expensive suit and had a limo full of women out back waiting on him.

[1995-02-18-SMW-TV] Interview: Dirty White Boy
Dirty White Boy is shown riding a horse while he talks about his upcoming return match with Jerry Lawler and he hopes he gets Buddy Landell in the ring not long after that. DWB says Lawler knows nothing about East Tennessee and might as well be a stinkin' yankee. He won't tolerate someone talking about his family and says he's ready. This is of course really good.

[1995-02-18-SMW-TV] Interview: Chris Candido
Candido accidentally says if he can't beat Boo Bradley, he might as well leave Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Jim Ross pushes him on it. Jim Ross: "Are you a man of your word? Do you have integrity?" Chris Candido: "Of course! I'm from New Jersey and I'm friends with Dennis Coraluzzo!" The fans end up goading him as well, and finally says he'll agree to Loser Leaves Town if Boo Bradley agrees, but he's reluctant and feels like he has been hoodwinked.

[1995-02-18-WWF-Superstars] Bret Hart Award Ceremony
Bret Hart gets an award from WWF Magazine -- and a very smiley young woman -- for being the guy that best embodies the WWF New Generation. Lawler is hammering on about Bret being a racist who hates Japanese people in the background, so I guess that happened earlier than I thought.

Dave Meltzer stuff
It wasn't an analogy. I was making the point that drawing wrestling fans to something that isn't pro wrestling is meaningless. Completely meaningless.

[1995-02-17-NJPW] Masa Chono & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs Hiroshi Hase & Kensuke Sasaki
I need explanation, and I need it now. What did Chono and Tenzan do? Why is everyone so pissed off at them? This is NUTS. It's probably more of an angle than a match, but the action is fantastic and the angle is classic. There is brawling all over the place throughout the arena involving half the promotion, chairs and tables being thrown around, cameras shaking, stretcher jobs, open mic challenges and crazy heat. As awesome as it is, I really need some context though.

[1995-02-11-WCW-Saturday Night] Vader feature / Interview: Hulk Hogan
Hogan gets in a subtle WWF swipe while talking about the upcoming match with Vader at Superbrawl. Hogan wants Jimmy Hart to take care of Ric Flair so he can focus on Vader. Baffling. Gene steers that right and tells Jimmy Hart he shouldn't involve himself physically with Flair.

[1995-02-11-WCW-Saturday Night] Sting feature
This is way cool. Sting shows all of his ring jackets and walks through the big matches he wore them in as they show highlights. They lose me when they try to equate the Avalance match and Big Bubba turn with all of these moments, but A for effort. WCW was rapidly improving their production values at this point.

[1995-02-11-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair feature
They show clips of Flair losing to Hogan at Halloween Havoc '94. Flair says he's retired, but he's by no means gone from pro wrestling. He points out that he's the only guy that has faced both Vader and Hogan in World title matches. He says Hogan may be everyone's favorite, but Vader is going to beat Hogan for the title. He then says he agreed to walk away from in-ring competition, but did not agree to do anything else. He says if anyone has a problem with that, they can meet him next week to tell him why. "I need wrestling, and wrestling needs me."

[1995-02-11-SMW-TV] Bob Armstrong and New Jack
Bob Armstrong has a list of fines. $1000 to Tammy Fytch for ignoring her suspension. $2500 to Eddie Gilbert for his actions against Ricky Morton. $1000 to Chris Candido for his attack on Boo Bradley. Then they show a clip of The Gangstas attacking Tracy Smothers and Scott Armstrong after Smothers won a $5000 purse in a match to set up a $1500 fine to both Gangstas and D-Lo Brown. The Gangstas come out and accuse Armstrong of discrimination and Armstrong says as long as they are in SMW, they will abide by the rules. They try attacking Bob Armstrong, but he ducks a punch. It takes a second, but the numbers catch up and they triple team Bob Armstrong. The babyfaces rush the ring and run them off. Great angle.

[1995-02-11-SMW-TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Lawler gives yet another great promo about being SMW champion, wanting the Dirty White Boy again, laughing at the idea Buddy Landell helped him with anything, throwing various insults at Les Thatcher, and the people of East Tennessee. He tells the locals about this new fangled invention called toothpaste.

[1995-02-11-USWA-TV] PG-13 and Doug Gilbert & Tommy Rich
Wolfie D is missing in action. JC Ice is out flying solo, saying he's been on TV since 1988 (He has? I thought his debut was in 1990?) and Tommy Rich is the most disgusting person he has seen. He told Wolfie to stay in the back so he doesn't get further injured. Jamie is awesome here, talking about how wrestling feeds Wolfie D and his family and he can't afford to be further injured, so he asked him to stay home. This brings out Rich and Gilbert to plot an attack, but Wolfie D quickly comes out to run them off. He is wearing a patch on his eye, which he quickly raises to show that he lost his vision. These guys can do a hell of a babyface promo. Really awesome.

[1995-02-06-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels announcement
Shawn Michaels resigns as a color commentator, saying that he is too hot a commodity to be calling the matches. At this point, that's a good move, considering that they needed to build Shawn up for Wrestlemania, not use him at the booth to get everything else over.

[1995-02-06-WWF-Raw] Interview: Diesel
This time period -- where Diesel is comparing Bret and Owen as athletes, discussing wrestling strategy, and talking about his history of knee surgeries -- is the product of Jim Ross booking. Here, Vince is interviewing him in a sit-down interview that is not really a typical WWF-style presentation, but works well. They also discuss some of his recent public appearances. I'm really surprised at some of the things mentioned here. He asks him how he has time to train, and ... how he keeps his marriage together! Knowing they pushed Diesel to appeal to women, I'm surprised they revealed that he was married. I also love that the Jeff Jarrett match is a big deal and we know about it two weeks in advance -- as it should be since it's a World champ vs IC champ match. Also surprisingly, Vince calls him Kevin Nash!

[1995-02-06-WWF-Raw] Lawrence Taylor's agent
Mulleted lawyer for Lawrence Taylor reads a statement that he would still like an apology from Bigelow for his actions at the Royal Rumble, he is NOT interested in a match, and if these challenges do not stop, they will seek legal remedy. Well okay then.
