[1992-11-23-NJPW-Wrestling Scramble Tour] Genichiro Tenryu & Takashi Ishikawa & Koki Kitahara vs Shiro Koshinaka & Kengo Kimura & Masaji Aoyagi
I just watched everything from 1993 a few months ago, and already it seems like a distant memory. As the first chronological WAR vs NJ match on a yearbook, this reminds me of how awesome the whole feud was. Koshinaka seems more heavily involved in the early stages than he would be as the feud progressed and he and Tenryu have great chemistry, so that's a shame. The crowd pops huge for everything. This isn't as elite as the best matches from the series, but the hot crowd and specifically Tenryu/Kosh interplay makes it a very good match. Tenryu puts away Kimura with a powerbomb to secure the win for his team. Post-match, Tenryu grabs the mic and calls out Choshu and we get an awesome staredown. Bring it on!

Comments that don't warrant a thread 2010-2011
Watts also mentions making a girlfriend he was living with get an abortion because he didn't want another child. I'm sure there's more, but I didn't have any desire to read all of it. He can be a bit long winded.

Best worker aged 45+ NOT called Ric Flair or Terry Funk?
Yeah, I'm not even sure Flair should be excluded on the premise that he's just automatically better than anyone else we can think of. Ric Flair 1994-present has some solid stuff, some good stuff and some great interviews, but in the ring, he's not among the best old guys, is he?

Comments that don't warrant a thread 2010-2011
I was looking around to see if I could find more information online about Bill Watts' thoughts on his time in WCW, and I came across his web site. He has his views posted on many religious issues on the site, and I saw that he had a link regarding homosexuality. Watts has always been a bit of a homophobe, so I pretty much knew what I was going to read and didn't really care, but I thought it was interesting that he himself admitted to being one of the guys who allowed Jim Barnett to perform sexual favors on him. I know that the story has been around forever regarding what Barnett used to do, but has it ever been stated that Watts was one of the people involved before? http://www.cowboybillwatts.com/?p=137#more-137

[1992-11-21-WCW-Saturday Night] Big Van Vader vs Dustin Rhodes
I'm tempted to call Dustin Vader's second best opponent, on the strength of this match and the Clash match alone. This is an excellent TV match, about 10 minutes with Dustin getting some great offense in on Vader and throwing some tremendous punches before Vader comes back and secures the win. Dustin's 360 spin bump off the clothesline on the arena floor was awesome. I wish these two could have had a long PPV match at some point.

[1992-11-21-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Jim Cornette
Is it true? Has Lane gotten rid of the toupee? Cornette has to wrestle today, teaming with the Bodies against the Rock & Roll Express and Ron Garvin, and man is he HOT about it. Where and how did Corny get an All Japan Pro Wrestling jacket? In all seriousness, this is possibly one of Cornette's all-time best promos. Everyone in wrestling should watch this.

[1992-11-21-USWA-TV] Interview: Doug Gilbert & Jerry Lawler / The Moondogs vignette
Lawler explains the dumbest, strangest gimmick match I've ever heard of. Just watch, but give Lawler credit for almost making it seem like a good idea. Then, we get Richard Lee on a boat with the Moondogs preparing them to get comfortable around water before the Mid South Coliseum match. Richard Lee is great in this.

[1992-11-16-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Randy Savage's mystery partner
This was absolutely spectacular. Maybe the most impressive last-minute main event reset in history. Heenan is gold here and is the star. This may be the best thing I've ever seen from him. Everyone is really good, even Flair feels like Flair. But this is Bobby Heenan's finest moment. Best WWF "thing" (match or otherwise) of the year.

[1992-11-15-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Bret Hart
Bret does a quick interview about taking on all comers, and tells Flair he has to beat The Man to be The Man again.

[1992-11-14-WWA] Eddie Gilbert vs Terry Funk (Texas Death)
Not that it's a fair statement, but wow, this match would have been aided by pro-shot cameras and announcers. I lost track of how many falls there were because there were so many, which isn't a bad thing, but an announcer would have helped greatly. Also, the brawling was really good, but you couldn't really see their facial expressions, so I felt like I was missing out on something. In spite of that, this is the best of the Funk/Gilbert matches from my point of view. The '93 stuff has its moments, but I'd put this above all of that. Crazy action going on around the finish with Gilbert using the branding iron.

2011 Observer Hall of Fame thread
This is interesting, and I think it's worth starting the conversation somewhere where Dave can see it and may respond for sure. The reason I think this is a compelling case is because you're basing candidacy on ring work and attendance figures, not just one or the other. Usually, when someone like Dundee or whoever gets advocated, I can't get on board because there's something consistent about everyone who has been inducted based on ring work. They all have reps. A guy who is among the best ever in the ring who doesn't have the rep for being among the best ever in the ring isn't a HOF candidate. It's perception over reality when it comes to the HOF, which sounds like a backhanded compliment, but is really (mostly) not.

What was WCW's "big show"?
It does annoy me that Vince has rights to all those names and we can't get a Starrcade pay-per-view. But then the world wouldn't have BRAGGING RIGHTS or something, I guess.

There's an interesting question in itself: Does Wade Keller get a HOF ballot?

[1992-11-14-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Shawn Michaels vs Davey Boy Smith
Shawn wins the IC title in a surprisingly fun match. The audio is peppered, but considering how hard they worked to get over Davey Boy, this is a big loss for the WWF. Still, yet again, the WWF is in transition. It's a shame it took a business downturn for Bret and Shawn to get an opportunity, as it may have worked better had they experimented with it when business was good.
