  1. Damage control is on! Tom Nunnery shows up to demonstrate all the charity work Lawler does and how good of a samaritan he is. They show a video of him leading a group of mentally challenged people in singing "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", which VERY CLEARLY proves his innocence. We then transition to a Lawler music video of Lawler hugging children in slow motion to "Thank God For Kids"! Finally, Lawler comes out for an interview and mentions that the girl has recused her story and he hopes things get back to normal soon. This gives the Vince stuff earlier in the year a run for its money in its shamelessness.
  2. I'm not jdw, but he has praised plenty of "old WWWF stalwarts" in this thread, namely Vince himself.
  3. Jeff comes out with both the tag title and the Unified title. Jarrett decides before the match that the tag titles aren't worth it and refuses to defend the title because the Unified title is a bigger priority. Jarrett hands the belt to Eddie Marlin, Christopher is mystified, and PG-13 insists on having the match now, so this leaves Brian Christopher to defend the belts by himself, which he insists on doing. He puts up a strong effort which gets him over really strong as a babyface, but in the end, succumbs to the numbers game and PG-13 takes the tag titles, exactly as they should have. Fun match, but great booking and a great segment.
  4. Owen Hart is on the phone to be interviewed by Gorilla Monsoon. Owen takes exception to Gorilla referring to him as "the brother of Bret 'The Hitman' Hart". They show photos that clearly aren't from Survivor Series of Bret and Owen arguing. Did something else happen on another show?
  5. I think it's good netiquette that if you're going to criticize something, you have to be willing to link to it so other readers can from their own opinions. (This may even apply to Cageside Seats references to PWInsider.)
  6. Hell of a fight. Lots of blood, hate and selling, what's not to love? In the final fall, Satanico gets his knee worked over by Pirata and it's all great. I love Pirata proactively scooting across the ring in the figure four so Satanico can't reach the ropes. When Satanico mounts a bit of a comeback, he gets cut off by a low blow. The sunset flip battle is awesome too! Really hot final stretch full of some great false finishes. Feels more CMLL than AAA because of the match participants and style, and that's a good thing. Satanico finally secures the win with some type of standing figure four. Aside from Ultimo/Casas, the only lucha match on the set to really blow me away. MOTYC.

  8. Not sure the story here, but Eddie and Doug Gilbert grab the mic and shoot on piece of shit promoters, declaring their loyalty to Baba. Weird with lots of swearing.
  9. This is an outstanding match, it's a shame the Boston audience didn't get into it, because they were doing everything they could to win them over. These guys worked really, really hard, probably knowing this would be a cold crowd going in, so they pulled out pretty much all of my favorite tag team spots in an attempt to win them over, but nothing worked. Too bad, this was probably better than every 80s WWF tag.
  10. Last few minutes of what set up the Bret/Owen feud. Owen accidentally crashes into a recovering Bret on the apron, is distracted and Shawn rolls him up for a pin. Shawn takes off running and gets counted out, resulting in a Hart Family win. Owen returns and argues with Bret.
  11. There are moments when it's obvious Kawada and Taue are working around what Baba can do. Taue sells Baba's strikes and kicks like death and they end up looking really good. Kawada isn't quite as stiff with his kicks as he is with Hansen. But they still keep the match progressing in a fun way and Baba keeps up. The end result is a good match that isn't at the level of the best AJ tags, obviously, but is still very good and comparable to the high end stuff going on in most other promotions. Baba even pulls out a DDT and some double team moves with Hansen, which is more than I expected. Baba getting the last second lariat right before the bell was a cool moment. I look forward to seeing the Misawa/Kobashi match since that's the one I always hear so much about.
  12. Really good action! Bossman adapted to All Japan really well without changing too much. The crowd also popped for his offense. Makes for an interesting comparison to DiBiase.
  13. Rio's Roundup, which I have zero recollection of, has Shawn visiting the home of the Hart Family. A couple of people are dressed up like Stu and Helen, only looking as old as possible.
  14. Great heat, good match. I like their '89 stuff better, but this is still good. Could have used more time and matwork, but I guess this isn't a title match, it's a hair match.
  15. I always thought PWI's greatest remaining marketability would be their photo library. They should do a coffee table book series.
  16. I think more psychologically sound is accurate. Compare her to someone like Toyota, and it's not really favorable for Toyota. Devil does less, but most of what she does is very memorable. Toyota does more impressive spots, but 90% of them are forgotten by the time the match is over.
  17. Last 8 minutes or so. The final four in the battle royal are Flair, Sting, Vader and Austin, and the action is really good. Flair gets laid out on the ramp by Vader and taken out so it's Sting against two heels and it's awesome. Sting puts up a hell of a fight before finally going down to Vader.
  18. Last few minutes. One of them goes after Cornette to choke him and Pritchard saves him with a chair. Finally, Cornette hogties him to the ringpost while he's out! Cornette pushed himself too much. There, I said it. He finally breaks free and brings a board to the ring to help his brother out and the SMW mayhem continues.
  19. The story is that the Moondogs can't wrestle on TV because they're too dangerous. Cornette does a really annoying and great job explaining this. The Moondogs rush the ring and start beating up security and preliminary wrestlers. Finally, the Rock & Rolls come out to brawl with them and try to put a stop to this.
  20. Jeff Jarrett video -- similar to the "Now That's Fabulous" one earlier of him, with a different song.
  21. The Devil Masami stuff in 1993 is such a breath of fresh air because she wrestles in a more psychologically sound way than everyone else around her, yet she can still keep up the action. And it's good to see Chigusa Nagayo show up! Mariko countering Suzuki's high-cross body into a bridge pin is awesome! This match is filled with stuff like that. But it's the Chigusa/Devil interactions that steal the show. I love how much drama they are able to get out of the sleeper -- twice. This crowd even sounds more like an 80s crowd than a 90s one. Loved this!
  22. Hawk is KNEE DEEP in plasma and hemoglobin, baby. This is a completely rambling, nonsensical promo, which I'm pretty sure is the reason for its inclusion.
  23. Funk does a terrific promo about Sabu's arrival in ECW, torturing Joey Styles all the while.
