Those two things don't really have anything to do with each other. Keeping Kerry from wrestling wasn't about Kerry as much as it was sabotaging the show through any means necessary.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Wow, that first quote was definitely prophetic, and pretty much explains how we got where we are in terms of roster depth in WWE and seemingly no major stars working minor leagues who we can expect to make a big impact in a few years. The second quote is funny. Is Memphis wrestling really THAT different from most wrestling? Yes, there's comedy, and yes there was a distinct style, but every territory had that. I always thought it was cool that while the brains behind most territories tended to be old wrestlers and ex-jocks, in Memphis, Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart were DJs, artists and music fanatics. So it was definitely a more colorful, exciting style.

I love in the Summerslam wedding that the maid of honor extra kinda had a facial expression like she disapproved of the choice her friend had made. (I watched Summerslam '91 waaaay too many times growing up, I think.)

Yeah, I think it was more a case of Sags and Knobs being booked in matches that completely played to their strengths than any type of renaissance. But yeah, those Slamboree and Spring Stampede tags felt like they were out of W*ING instead of WCW.

What apparently elicited that Mitchell statement was that they aired a segment on SMW TV of old Gordy comments over video, then at the end, just had him say, "White Boy, I'm coming for you." Mitchell thought it was deceptive somehow.

The Nasty Boys had a pretty strong year in 1994. Why it would surprise anyone that they would be involved in a great match where the focus is usually on brawling surprises me.
