My 241 Favorite Matches
Well, Hansen/Brody vs Steamboat/Youngblood was action-packed, but was mostly Brody no-selling and stiffing babyfaces for no reason. I liked the match when Hansen was in, but Brody dragged it down for me.

I just watched Steamboat/Onita vs High Flyers from 6/8/82 in All Japan. Really good high workrate sprint. It's hurt by having neither team really heel it up all that much, but it's still really good action. I haven't seen much of Brunzell and Gagne as a team, but I really like the little I have seen.

Steamboat/Slater vs Jumbo/Baba from 12/05/80 in All Japan was a good match. Steamboat definitely had strengths at this stage of his career. He hadn't fully developed into a great wrestler just yet, but Jumbo is really good at reigning him by forcing him to work the mat. The matwork throughout this entire match with every pairing -- Steamboat/Jumbo, Baba/Steamboat, Baba/Slater, Jumbo/Slater -- is very solid. The match is fun early, but doesn't really seem to be going anywhere for a while, until Steamboat comes in and starts using his karate offense on Jumbo. I get a kick out of Steamboat working the apron like he's in Greensboro and the crowd following his lead. I may be overrating this, because this is more just a fun series of mini-matches with every pairing instead of an actual tag match. But I really liked the pairings. This was my first time to see that match. I had seen Jumbo/Steamboat before, and my opinion really didn't change much. Really solid match, but don't get too excited. I'd like to see Jumbo and Steamboat in a shorter, more fast-paced match where Steamboat could really show off his charisma. He was good on the mat, but his bigger strength was in selling and quick bursts of offense, even then. It's fun to watch the Steamboat comp and see Steamboat evolve. There's a definite improvement in the late 1980 stuff compared to the film footage, and we all know he got even better.

Nevermind, he explained that they're insulting each other on Twitter back and forth later in the issue.

I just watched Steamboat/Youngblood vs Stevens/Snuka from 6/29/80 in Toronto. What a weird match. It's one that I really wanted to like, and I've heard mixed things about it. I guess there are flashes of good stuff. Maybe? But it's like someone put ants down everyone's pants and then told them to go out and work a match, because you have all this unnecessary hyperactivity and weird physical awkwardness from guys that aren't really known for that. I did like in the early stages Stevens always trying to come in and save Snuka only for Youngblood or Steamboat to stop him from doing so. But for any good tag team staple like that, you get something silly like Stevens using a choke behind the referee's back for over 30 seconds, or hot tags that didn't even involve the babyface being in trouble, or an opening standoff that seems like it's never going to end. I also liked Snuka's outside in splash. But this match is really bizarre. It's not even really a spotfest, I'm not sure how to refer to it. it's just a mish-mash collection of wrestling -- good, bad, and in between, with no rhyme or reason behind it -- with Steamboat specifically wrestling like he's someone else. Maybe it's the moustache.

Matt Hardy gets butthurt over mean internet words
There are a lot of things you can say about Cena, but I think he handles being a top babyface and not having fans follow him lockstep on everything remarkably well. I've never gotten the feeling from him that he thinks fans should be sheep and just cheer him.

Matt Hardy gets butthurt over mean internet words
It seems like Matt Hardy is constantly in some type of battle with someone on the Internet over something they said.

Paul Orndorff
I watched the Steamboat/Orndorff match from Halloween Havoc '93. These two match up well and they have a good match in them, but it just can't seem to come out. There's so much dead time and there are a few times where they cross signals. That said, Orndorff is a talented wrestler, to a point where it seems like there would be an excellent Orndorff match somewhere out there, but I have yet to find it. I liked the Santana match on the WWF set, the Olympia match on the Mid South set, a Piper match from MSG, and his Cactus Jack match from SuperBrawl III, and those are all matches that have their moments, but I wouldn't call any of them great. He's a guy I really want to like, and I just can't seem to find that great Orndorff match. Maybe it doesn't exist, but anyone want to help?

John Morrisson/Teddy Long on "Smackdown"
That was really, really bad. Even the premise of Teddy Long in a daze thinking about Michael Jackson for no reason. Also, beat it all around the world?
