Dave knows everyone in the business. He pimps and critiques their stuff always. He would just be nicer about it instead of saying "that was f'ing stupid". Dave and Bryan interviewed Jeff Jarrett recently, despite ripping TNA apart for years. Dave ripped Dana White in the past, and still texts him all the time. Bryan had everyone from ROH on shows recently, and still is able to say what he likes and doesn't like. If he praises something, the sincerity of it is immediately in question. If he criticizes something, why did he flip flop? It's pretty bad that he ever considered doing something. He's not a message board poster or a huge fan as much as he is a journalist. -
What would Dave have said if a match was bad? That's the issue.

I wasn't really looking at it as being a case of either cutting the cord or going 100% with streaming. I didn't realize they were mutually exclusive, and WWE wouldn't want people to cut the cord anyway. How would they watch RAW? The Hulu version is edited.

NWO Souled Out. Terrible in-ring show, but such a ballsy endeavor that was such a complete departure from the normal wrestling aesthetic that I still respect it.

Presentation. Not just of them individually as performers, but also of the entire "universe" in which they are performing.

He may have learned, but as a 1990 heel, he never demonstrated that. I suspect there is some overthinking here. If Lawler beats someone who he has admitted is not any good, what has he really accomplished? How does that help him? The purpose of a promo is to make the viewer want to see a match. A promo that does anything else is counterproductive. People generally want to see matches with doubtful outcomes and the best way to do that is to give the person no one expects to win some type of advantage heading into the match and put over their credentials. It's the same reason heels didn't call Dusty fat or Hogan bald, or make fun of Austin's kneebraces. It's the reason Bill Watts would fire great workers who tried to show JYD up in the ring. The heel should divert attention from glaring weaknesses instead of putting even more focus on them. That applies to both matches and promos. Wrestling is a work. It's best when we think pretty much everyone involved is great at it, with some just being greater than others.

We need a new voice with under-the-radar access who isn't so much concerned with beltway-type access. I don't think Dave seeks it out, but he has it just by being on the job for so long. Wade is objective and has an interesting perspective, in some ways more so than Dave, but seems to have dried up his sources. MKJ reports news really well, but doesn't really analyze it or investigate things beyond the surface. I'm looking forward to the next person who comes along who isn't afraid to piss people off even if they aren't seeking it out while also not sensationalizing for attention like I feel like Irv sometimes does. I guess the ideal new person to come along would have Dave's knowledge, MKJ's connections and Wade's organizational skills and ability to interview.

If he's champ going into Wrestlemania, I wonder if it would be worth it to sign him for one additional month just to put the WM outcome more in doubt.

Because you don't want the crowd to completely shit on the crowning moment of the person who beats him because everyone watching knows he's just doing a job on the way out. They should have more closely guarded the details of Brock's contract.

Sasha was a horrible talker last time I watched NXT. Like, unbelievably bad. Charlotte too, actually. Has that changed in either case?

That and Brock-Bryan as the top two matches would be an infinitely better way to launch Reigns - if there is no escaping that - and to put Bryan back on track.

Maybe they think people will be so hyped about the returns of Roman Reigns, Sting, Undertaker (possibly), Brock Lesnar, HHH and Stephanie, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan (possibly) that they can ride that momentum into Wrestlemania. To a lesser degree, Barrett should be back soon too.

I think they should have even had Vince acquiesce to some ridiculous demands Punk finally makes in order to return, and a lot of it could have focused on the look and feel of the show, which would have helped signal that this wasn't just another angle that would cool off in a few weeks, but that this was a new promotional direction. Sadly, this was just another angle that would cool off in a few weeks.

They thought way too inside the box with the Punk angle. Punk needed to be part of the Summerslam build for sure, but he shouldn't have wrestled - he should have been a shit disturber in Cena vs Rey and made clear through paid ads on RAW and social media that he would buy a ticket and that he could promise there would be no new champion coming out of the show. WWE didn't get to move on in his absence and crown a different champion. Their champ was simply CM Punk and he quit, and they were never allowed to replace him with a new champ. That's the angle. Cena vs Rey, ref bump, fan in Rey mask attacks Cena, Rey pulls him off and unmasks him, it turns out to be Punk, chaos ensues, Punk takes off with the new belt through the crowd. Then Cena-Rey rematch in a cage with Punk somehow breaking through again. Then Cena-Rey-Punk. Then Rey-Punk. Then Cena-Punk. No reason versions of that match couldn't have played out for several months (I realize Rey was injured during that time, but they could have inserted someone else into that spot as well.)

I think this is mostly a semantics debate. Parv isn't saying U.S. champs are never better than world champs, he's saying featured performers are usually better than non-featured performers. So Regal, while never a headliner, routinely received 10-15 minutes of time to work TV matches and often received even more time than that on pay-per-view. So this doesn't apply to him. "Card placement" is probably the incorrect choice of words here. It isn't about main events or midcard as much as it is wrestlers given the appropriate time and focus to produce plenty of stuff worth watching.
