[1999-11-29-WWF-Raw] The Acolytes and Dudley Boys card game
The Dudleys and the APA play poker and Bubba Ray can't get over a joke about his mom. They seem like they are about to fight until they find common ground in making fun of Public Enemy. I'll remember that next time things get hostile in a social situation. Bubba bluffed his way through all of this only to show he had SIX ACES, which sets off a big brawl when the APA and Dudleys.

[SPLIT TOPIC] The WWE 100
Their goal was to represent as big of a cross-section of matches and eras as possible, not to provide an accurate ranking. I wouldn't criticize WWE.com writers too much for not doing something they weren't trying to do.

[SPLIT TOPIC] The WWE 100
Considering the many masters they need to serve, it's not a horrible list. It's a puzzling one at times, but not outright bad. I encourage people to read the reviews though, just because they do read like a PWO parody at times. Examples:

WWE Network... It's Here
I moved all the talk about the WWE 100 out of this thread. It deserves its own.

[1999-11-26-CMLL] Antifaz Del Norte & Hijo Del Santo & Emilio Charles Jr & Felino & Negro Casas & Olimpico & Tarzan Boy & Tony Rivera vs Bestia Salvaje & Black Warrior & Blue Panther & Fuerza Guerrera & Rey Bucanero & Satanico & Ultimo Guerrero & Zumbido
I wasn't sure how I'd like this one since it was much shorter than the original '97 version and I didn't see how they could accomplish so much in 23 minutes. But they did! This was a shot to the arm of a tired wrestling fan, and there seemed to be something cool happening practically every second of this, be it the cheating, highspots or even Santo's terrific performance gutting it out at the end. I think this is now my favorite Cibernetico matches, and it's also quite easily one of the best matches of the year.

[1999-11-25-WWF-Smackdown] HHH & X-Pac vs Test & Shane McMahon
Last few minutes. Vince looks on while DX does a number on Shane. For some reason, he can't help, but I don't really understand why. Vince recruits a bevy of wrestlers to come to the ring and stop them. The fighting switches from everyone ganging up on DX to a Thanksgiving food fight to close out the show. Mae Young ends up throwing a pie at Lawler to close the show.

[1999-11-25-WWF-Smackdown] Mankind and The Rock
Funny super-sized Mr. Socko in the crowd, which Mankind acknowledges. He wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, then brings The Rock out, who admires the various pies at ringside. There is even an actual Poontang Pie, a cream pie with the word Poontang on it. He targets Michael Cole as someone who has never had pie.

[1999-11-23-FMW-10th Anniversary Show] Hayabusa vs H
Shawn Michaels is the referee for this and has the full entrance and everything. Shawn Michaels as an FMW referee ... have we seen it all? Hayabusa provokes Shawn, who superkicks him then wants to go after him, but H holds him back from doing it and the match regains some sense of order. Hayabusa then unmasks voluntarily as Gannosuke and the match picks up from there into a pretty action-packed affair, which I thought was good but not nearly as good as some of the best stuff earlier in the year. There was a handshake at the end which considering how heated the angle was in August seems odd and too soon. Shawn puts over FMW on the house mic at the end.

[1999-11-23-FMW-10th Anniversary Show] Masato Tanaka vs Kodo Fuyuki (Loser Leaves FMW Electric Cage)
The best FMW matches in 1999 have been great throwback-style wrestling matches, but this was different. This was a true spectacle in the old spirit of the promotion wrestled inside an electric cage where the wrestlers do everything they can not to bump into the cage, as doing so sets off an explosion. Fuyuki can’t hold a candle to his peers in straight wrestling matches, but matches like this suit him well because they tailor to his knack for creating drama. Tanaka at this point (maybe to this day, actually) can do anything. The cage didn’t factor into this all that much in the early stages but eventually did in a big way, as Fuyuki started dismantling the ring and using its parts as a weapon, also clearing the way for the cage borders to be even more difficult to avoid. I like the irony of Fuyuki dismantling the ring being his undoing, as Tanaka almost immediately makes a comeback with by throwing a hard punch at Fuyuki to send him crashing into the cage and following up immediately with a powerbomb to get a really close fall. This wasn’t quite as good as the best stuff they did in ’99, but it was still terrific and has a unique gimmick that makes it stand out from the pack.

[1999-11-22-WCW-Nitro] The Revolution and Bret Hart
The Revolution had an odd gimmick at this point where they became anti-American. They are about to burn both an American and Canadian flag after attacking Chris Benoit. Bret Hart makes the save and clears the ring of The Revolution and rescues the two flags. This was all done for the visual of Bret and Benoit waving the American and Canadian flags, and it's like they just worked backwards from there.

[1999-11-22-WCW-Nitro] Pyro and Ballyhoo
Vince Russo summons Curt Hennig, who he needs to bring him Juventud Guerrera. Juventud shows up looking AMAZING in that getup and presents Russo with a bottle of tequila. Russo is upset that his work visa has expired. Juventud gets thrown out for giving Russo bad tequila and then Russo asks for his toothpaste. Then The Maestro is interrupted by David Flair, who destroys his piano with a crowbar while screaming "Make it stop!" Funny.

[1999-11-22-WCW-Nitro] Roddy Piper and the Powers That Be
Russo confronts Duggan over leaving his "case of the runs" in his toilet last week. Russo's revenge is that he's been eating prunes all week and now he wants Duggan to clean his toilet with a toothbrush because ratings. He sees another toothbrush sitting there and pulls a switcheroo. Then Roddy Piper returns to say that WCW doesn't need any stinkin' writers. He criticizes the booking and is just getting started when his mic cuts out, which may be the best thing Russo ever did. Piper looks to the announcers for an explanation and Tony Schiavone explains to them that Russo ordered the producers to kill his mic. Piper goes on a tear and breaks into Russo's office and cuts a scathing promo on Russo. This comes out of nowhere and Piper is too wound up without escalating enough to that point. Russo points out that Piper is pushing 50 and only has one hip, but in his world, Piper is DONE. He's sending him out to pasture along with Flair and Hogan. Piper responds that he has a two-year contract and threatens to sue Russo for not fulfilling his contract. So Russo agrees to put him on television, but he has to be a "lowly referee" and if he refuses to do it, he's in breach of contract and Russo will sue his ass. This is not a bad way to use Piper if they had to use him at all.

[1999-11-22-WWF-Raw] HHH vs The Acolytes (Handicap)
Last few minutes. The APA are pummeling HHH. HHH is trying to get away by running through the crowd and that's not working at all. I'm not crazy about a heel being put in a sympathetic position. HHH attacks the ref, which Jim Ross explains doesn't do much for him in a No DQ match. HHH tries to bail out of the ring but Vince does return after all, sneaking up behind HHH and hitting him with a chair before throwing him off of the stage!

[1999-11-22-WWF-Raw] The Rock & ?? vs Big Show & Prince Albert
Rock has no tag team partner for the main event. He's now the top star and the fans absolutely LOVE him. Rock reveals that there's only one partner he trusts - The People. He goes it alone against both guys and the crowd is incredibly hot for him. Finally, Mankind comes out and stands in Rock's corner after Rock is getting pummeled. What a great storyline! He finally makes the tag and Mick cleans house. Mankind holds Boss Man at bay with the mandible claw while Rock finishes off Albert with the People's Elbow. Such an amazing feel-good segment that this company used to do so well. Rock is still skeptical of Mankind. The booking is so much better now.

[1999-11-22-WWF-Raw] Stephanie McMahon's Bridal Shower
Clips of Stephanie's bridal shower with a drunk Mae Young. Moolah and Mae bring their gift and it appears to have been a bunch of bondage clothing. Then Mae whispers something to Stephanie that she should try on her wedding night. Moolah ends up telling Mae to stop embarrassing her. Hilarious! Then Linda reveals that she's arranged a bachelorette party for Stephanie in Vegas. Meanwhile, drunk Mae falls face first in the cake. I just love Mae Young.
