[1999-09-27-WCW-Nitro] The Total Package
One of the strangest vignettes to ever air on WCW TV, with Lex Luger having a funeral to really weird effects. A veiled woman puts flowers on his grave while Luger rises from the dead and follows her. The veiled woman then shows up in front of the crowd and reveals herself to be Elizabeth and Luger must only be known as The Total Package moving ahead. Whoa, Liz's dress. In the center of ring, Luger does some poses for a few minutes to wrap this segment up. Funny to see Luger very much looking 41 years old everywhere except his upper body.

[1999-09-26-WWF-Unforgiven] The Rock vs HHH vs Big Show vs Kane vs Mankind vs Davey Boy Smith
Last few minutes. Funny moment when all the referees attack Jimmy Korderas for crossing the pick-up line. Austin takes over refereeing after making the save. Lots of stuff going on here that's hard to follow, but this looks like it could be a fun match. HHH regains the title and Austin has to count the fall. HHH tries to rub the victory in Austin's face and eats a Stunner.

[1999-09-25-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Armstrong Family
Madusa and her gigantic breast implants bring Brad, Steve and Scott Armstrong to the ring for an interview. The piped in crowd noise is so loud that it's hard to hear these guys. Brad does a total old Southern-style promo and even apes some lines directly from Arn Anderson. Why is this promo so good? I'm not sure anyone other than Flair early in the year has cut a better one in 1999 WCW.

[1999-09-25-OVW-TV] Flash Flanagan and Trailer Park Trash
Jim Cornette calls both of them to the ring to make a final match between the two on October 6 at Louisville Gardens in a Hell in a Cell match! They end up in a brawl with Flash opening a can of beer and smashing it over TPT's head. One of the refs stands up to Flash and gets beat up for it. Great stuff.

[1999-09-25-MPPW-TV] Vic Grimes vs Steve Bradley (Cage)
An actual studio cage match. Both guys work hard and this is a good match. Steve Bradley really looks like a prospect. Chris Cannonball tries to interfere and Angle stops him and they brawl out of sight. Robbie D also stops Kevin Christian from running in. Then Brandon Baxter stops Cornette and the match goes off the air before the finish. Well there's a blast from the past. But we do get the finish as whoever originally taped this spliced this together.

[1999-09-25-MPPW-TV] Randy Hales and Brian Christopher
Brian Christopher shows up in the Memphis studio sans his Too Cool gimmick. Randy Hales apologizes for any misunderstanding they have had in the past and reveals a gift he had for him - a brand new TV. Christopher comes back later in the show with a gift of his own - a baseball bat, which Christopher uses to smash the TV to pieces. Hales tosses him out of the studio and calls him a "prick", which is treated as a WHOA word to use on TV. So Christopher comes back and attacks him with light tubes! I wish I knew what led to all of this in the first place.

[1999-09-24-ECW-TNN] Super Crazy vs Little Guido
This was just awesome. Little Guido is my favorite ECW wrestler ever. He just totally schools Crazy on the mat in this awesome exchange, acts as a great base for Crazy's highspots and brings the match back to the mat when he's in control. He also heels the crowd awesomely, both with the Big Sal interference spots and through his own actions. Just great TV wrestling and one of my favorite ECW matches. Post-match, Spike Dudley comes to Crazy's rescue and puts down Big Sal.

The Randy Hales shoot looks awesome. What are you talking about?

[1999-09-23-WWF-Smackdown] Chris Jericho vs Ken Shamrock (First Blood)
Jericho shows up in full hockey gear, which Jericho has a hard time moving around in. Not the best booking for a guy trying to overcome a label that he couldn't work. Curtis Hughes runs in and Shamrock beats him up until Jericho attacks Shamrock with the hockey stick. Hughes holds Shamrock down while Jericho does a frog splash in the gear to cause internal bleeding from Shamrock's mouth and give Jericho the win. I am pretty sure this was the last time we saw Shamrock in the WWF. Bad match.

[1999-09-23-WWF-Smackdown] The Rock & Mankind vs New Age Outlaws
Cool moment before the match when Rock talks to Dallas Stars players at ringside and suggests turning the Stanley Cup sideways and sticking it up HHH's ass. Mankind misunderstood what Rock was talking about and thought he needed a cup (to protect the People's Jewels), so he brought him one. A little out there even for Mick Foley. Mick is about to ape Rock's catchphrases again until Rock stops him. The two are interrupted by Road Dogg, who reveals that he's reunited with Billy Gunn. The New Age Outlaws are back together, ending the Billy Gunn experiment and we have ourselves a tag match. Nothing special, but the reunited Outlaws win the tag titles in yet another title change.

[1999-09-23-WCW-Thunder] Sid promo
Charles Robinson, who has been playing it straight for months on Nitro since Flair's Presidency ended, is now smirking and holding up signs for Sid. Sid vs Goldberg has been signed for Havoc, but they can't have any physical contact before the match or it's off. Sid's attention is split between Goldberg and Booker T, his opponent on this show.

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] HHH & Chyna vs Test & Shane McMahon
Last few minutes. I guess something happened for Test to replace Vince. HHH nails replacement ref Tom Pritchard (the storyline at the time was that all the referees were on strike) and then grabs a chair to do a number on both Test and Shane McMahon. As HHH is walking up the aisle, Vince lays him out with a chair.

Mark Henry is living it up in a strip club when D-Lo shows up and beats him up. They should do more on-location angles these days.

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] Burial of Pepper
Footage from earlier in the day of Pepper's funeral. Later, we get a GTV still of Big Boss Man showing up and urinating on Pepper's grave. I guess USA Standards & Practices stepped in on that one, because they can't show it.

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] The Rock & Mankind vs The Undertaker & Big Show (Dark Side Rules)
Rock is in street clothes since he wasn't scheduled to wrestle tonight originally. I love when they get those details right. Undertaker apparently did a pretty scathing anti-Rock promo earlier in the night where he said Rock had TV writers scripting his material, and Rock responds. We don't know what Dark Side Rules are, even as the match is beginning. Undertaker, who was injured at the time and they were disguising it through angles, does commentary and leaves Show to team with Mideon and Viscera. Lights go out in the middle of the match, then Kane shows up. Undertaker seems to think Kane is on his side, but Kane attacks Big Show. Then Mideon is left on his own to get a Mandible Claw, Rock Bottom and People's Elbow to give Rock & Sock the tag titles to a gigantic pop.

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] Jeff Jarrett & Debra vs Test & Stephanie McMahon
Jeff Jarrett puts a figure four on the makeup girl before the match. I can't figure out if admitting that there's a makeup girl is breaking kayfabe or not. I suppose this was Stephanie's first match. Test does all the work on Jarrett, then tags Stephanie in to get the pin. Debra never tags in, but post-match, Jeff blames her for the loss and puts her in the figure four to big heat for a change.

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] Interview: The Rock & Mankind
Mankind tries and fails to spoof Rock's catchphrases again. Michael Cole gets covered up with a t-shirt again. At least he reacts like a semi-normal human being this time. Rock demonstrates how he talks trash in his sleep in a funny moment. He's on fire tonight. "In case you're wondering, you sicko, things between me and The Rock are strictly platonic." - Mankind

[1999-09-20-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, HHH and Shane McMahon
Vince announces that he plans to live up to his word not to get involved in WWF business anymore and forfeits the title. Then he declares - as the McMahon family spokesperson, in a nice bit of attention to detail - that the winner of the six-pack challenge at Unforgiven will be the new champion. This brings out Austin, who says as much as he still hates his guts, this place hasn't been the same without him. Austin proposes that he take Vince's place in the title match. Vince claims he doesn't have the authority to let that happen. Now, HHH is out with yet another new look. He claims the two of them stole his gold like thieves in the night. HHH demands the title back or he will send one of his family members out of the building tonight on a stretcher. Shane interrupts to put HHH in his place to make HHH/Chyna vs Vince/Shane tonight, which seems to surprise Vince. Austin tells Vince to man up and take his company back. Vince says he'd love to come back, but he can't. Austin points to the famed Vince Russo Fine Print in the original contract, which says Austin had the power to reinstate Vince. Now that's a stretch. Austin agrees to do it if Vince will give him a title shot and Vince agrees to it, but says it will happen the following night on RAW. HHH will take the sixth spot at Unforgiven and Austin will be the Special Enforcer. Good segment.

[1999-09-20-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair vs DDP
Flair attacks DDP during entrances and they brawl into the crowd. This is not a special crowd by the standards of the time, but wow do they look excited compared to fans of today when WWE does crowd brawling. This was a fun match that was mostly brawling even when they made it back to the ring. Sting runs out to interfere and Flair ends up figure fouring him until Luger runs out with a baseball bat. The three heels work Flair over yet again until Hogan makes the save yet again. We get it, Hogan is better than Flair. This time, Sting takes a baseball bat to Hogan's knee. His heart doesn't seem to be into this heel turn.
