  1. Last few minutes. That was a pretty weak looking accidental ref bump. Debra enters the ring to entice D-Lo in the traditional finish and exposes the puppies, but D-Lo shrugs it off and pins Jarrett to claim both the IC and Euro titles. Post-match, Jarrett seems to blame Debra for the loss and there looks to be trouble in paradise.
  2. Last few minutes of what looks to be a real barnburner. Yep. Hogan is on commentary. Goldberg gets the hot tag but he's working heels who don't know how to feed, so they lose the crowd. Rick Steiner grabs a chair but Hogan stops him and pelts both guys, resulting in a DQ. Nash ends up attacking Hogan from behind and powerbombing him on the announce table.
  3. Gorgeous George is missing. Savage's candidacy for President of the United States is on hold in light of what is going on. George is under lock and key, and that booking has to be a rib. Savage calls Dennis Rodman out. Is that Jem on the back of his shirt? Instead, he gets Mona. She begs for Savage to re-hire her. He bullies her a little bit to demand her loyalty. He wants Mona to beg for her job back on her knees and then tells her she is still fired. Rodman comes out with Swoll and 4X4 and calls Savage "Macho Asshole", which gets bleeped. Lots of swearing from both guys, actually. Rodman tells Savage once you go black, you never go back in relation to George. Mona has enough of all the trash talk and low blows Savage before leaving the ring, then Rodman hits Savage with a clothesline. Bischoff apologizes for the language, but screw it - this was a fun segment. An actual, honest-to-God fun WCW segment that made me want to see a match.
  4. Kiss will be performing on Nitro in three weeks. Bischoff getting desperate with the celebrity stuff and obviously that didn't work like they wanted.
  5. I suspect it's something where the VP of whatever ordered it to be done this way and with all the budget cuts and layoffs, people are now just doing it without questioning it because that was the original direction. Pure guesswork on my part that may be way off, but this is how corporate environments tend to work.

Wrestlers sometimes overcome things. Red herrings are common in movies.
  7. I thought WCW fired Sabu when The Sheik threw the fireball at Halloween Havoc '95.
  8. Apparently closed captioning has been a big obstacle to uploading more content. They are probably paying a third party out the wazoo to perform that service, so with budget cuts comes less content. And they probably received a legal opinion from someone in the company at some point that not having closed captions on everything is a violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

As for Summerslam '95, the match has its flaws, but its strengths - playing off of specific spots in a previous high-profile match to show how both wrestlers have learned things, along with what still might be the best limb attack I've ever seen in a WWE ring - are so overwhelming that I think it swallows the flaws whole.

I disagree regarding the criticism of how the ladder is used in the early ladder matches. I think it's also worth considering that they were put in the position of getting a new gimmick over, and wrestlers doing first-time gimmick matches generally heavily incorporate the gimmick the first time out to distinguish it from other run of the mill matches.
  11. This was a blast. Nice blend of the lightning quick exchanges and minis chasing those unlucky enough to fall outside all around the ring with straps. I wasn’t sure how this would play with only four lumberjacks (and I had trouble even finding them at first), but they gave us some good comedy. Funny spot when the heel ref falls outside the ring and the lumberjacks even go after him with the straps! Forget star ratings - I laughed many times in this one.

  13. Danny B wants Brickhouse Brown in a Loser Leaves Town match next week.
  14. Kenny Bolin is upset about Cornette's restraining order and says it is now null and void anyway, because he has a client - Bull Buchanan. He's not there today but he will be there soon. Cornette doesn't trust him and wants a copy of his contract and promises him he'll be watching him.
  15. Footage is shown of Rico from American Gladiators. I remember watching that show the year he won. They transition to clips of him doing some weird brick-breaking fire thing. The clips are impressive for sure.
  16. I need to watch this full series back to back sometime to track the progression, but just going on memory, this seems like the best Ishikawa performance in their singles matches so far. An abdominal stretch is normally such a perfunctory move, but Ishikawa applies it so tightly and with so much conviction that it's pretty great. That's really where this match excels - taking a lot of basic things and making them *look* really special. It's impressive that Ikeda can even try for a clothesline and it doesn't look out of place. In fact, they used that to get to the finish. Add in the stiff footwork from Ikeda (mostly Ikeda this time around), pro style selling, pacing and match layout and you have another awesome match in their series.
  17. Ben Stiller sure loves Debra's puppies. Jeff Jarrett calls him into the ring. Stiller plugs Mystery Men and when Jarrett asks him his favorite WWF superstar, he says there are two - The Puppies. So Jarrett jumps him and puts him in a figure four, which Stiller to his credit sells like a champ. D-Lo Brown makes the save.
