[1999-06-28-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs The Undertaker
This drew an almost ridiculous 9.5 rating, making it the most watched wrestling match in the history of cable television. It is also a title change in front of a building of nearly 20,000 people who are red hot. This wasn't much more than decent, but it wasn't a disappointment for sure. Austin regains the title!

[1999-06-28-WCW-Nitro] Kevin Nash vs David Flair
Last few minutes. David Flair puts a figure four on Kevin Nash. Yep. Arn is the referee. All the lumberjacks are heels. Arn tries to attack Nash then all the heels hit the ring and start bumping around for Nash. This is worse than anything Dusty ever did. He ends up kidnapping Gorgeous George and tasing everyone that tries to save her. So Nash takes on every heel in the company and walks out with two women. Meanwhile, there's a hummer waiting and Sting is in the rearview mirror. Awful all around.

[1999-06-28-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Kevin Nash
Kevin Nash vs David Flair ... headlined at the United Center. Yeah. Nash explains the main event. This is all about presenting Nash as this tough loner where all the heels are conspiring against him. The match is a lumberjack match for the World Title and if Nash wins, he gets Torrie Wilson for 72 hours. He doesn't need 30 days like normal guys. Gotta love that the booker is cutting a promo on how much of an outsider he is in the land of WCW. This is pretty delusional.

[1999-06-27-Onita Pro] Atsushi Onita & Shigeo Okumura & Sambo Asako & Mitsunobo Kikuzawa vs Genichiro Tenryu & Shoji Nakamaki & Ichiro Yaguchi & Hiroshi Ono (No Rope Barbed Wire Double Hell Death Street Fight)
This was AWESOME! Tenryu and Onita at their charismatic best hitting each other with boards and plunder flying everywhere to the delight of a screaming crowd. Tenryu is wearing this oversized white dress shirt to protect himself from the barbed wire, which is pretty great. This is one of the most out of control things I’ve ever seen with more insanity than I could possibly describe. I don’t like this in my wrestling very often, but Tenryu and Onita are teacher’s pets and they bring so much personality to these things that I end up liking stuff stylistically I would normally hate. I appreciate how both guys are in the trenches instead of letting the no-names do all the work while they just act above it all. This is just a total desperate war in every way. It’s also complete. Just an amazing match.

[1999-06-26-KAW-TV] J.C. Ice and Terry Golden
JC Ice has saved his money and tries to convince Terry Golden that he wants to bring a big star to KAW. Wolfie D (fresh off Power Pro TV - I'd LOVE to know the politics of all of this) and Brickhouse Brown show up and lay Golden out.

[1999-06-26-MPPW-TV] Peggy Gilbert and Tommy Rich
Peggy Gilbert (Eddie and Doug's mom) shows up in the Memphis studio with a box. Dave Brown thinks it's Doug Gilbert and Dave is concerned he is in the box and reminds Peggy that there is a restraining order on Doug Gilbert and he's not allowed in the building. Peggy assures him it's just a gift. She also says that considering what her family has sacrificed for Memphis, Tennessee, Doug really deserves an opportunity to come back. Randy Hales comes out to try to explain things to Peggy, but she says she has known him since he was ten years old and he was the first Gilbert Fan Club President. There's a history and loyalty there and she doesn't understand why he can't be in Power Pro. Randy points out that he is a wrestling fan but he's also a businessman and Doug is a hothead. He again reminds her that Doug Gilbert cannot be in this box or he'll be arrested and he doesn't want that. Now JR Smooth and Glen Kulka are out because they are tired of all the drama. They want the ban lifted just because they are sick of hearing about this. He threatens to slap Peggy when Tommy Rich jumps out of the box and goes after the heels, who quickly bail. Rich has words for Randy Hales, saying this blackballing is one of the sorriest thing he has ever done. Rich says regardless of any restraining order, he and Doug Gilbert will be at the Jonesboro show tonight. Hales says that won't happen, so Rich says he's going to stop the TV show in its tracks. He throws a chair in the ring and has a seat where he refuses to leave. They cut to commercial and when they come back, Rich is still there and there's a "We Want Doug" chant. Downtown Bruno tries to talk some sense into Rich and he punches him in the face. Peggy suggests they leave before he gets arrested. Hales demands another commercial break. This didn't carry quite the punch of the previous two segments, but I like this a lot as an overall series.

[1999-06] Vince McMahon on Conan O'Brien
Video package of the Austin-McMahon feud to "Hate Me Now" by Nas brings Vince out for an interview. Conan praises Vince's standard look of shock when Austin shows up is the best thing in any form of entertainment. He has a point. Vince is relaxed and in good spirits and they have a fun conversation. It's obvious Conan is a fan. Vince has a shirt to brand Andy Richter as a fan named Cheeks. Vince hypes the match at King of the Ring. He looks like the happiest guy alive. Conan asks why Vince doesn't just fire Austin and Vince says he's tried that before and it just doesn't work. He gets to talk about Ted Turner, and when Conan points out that he also has an action figure, Vince says he can imagine it takes lithium all day long. Ouch.

[1999-06-24-WCW-Thunder] Eddy Guerrero vs Psicosis
This crowd is hyped for Eddy. I think this and the Juventud match are roughly on par in terms of just the in-ring action, but this gets the crowd way more pumped up, and it's easy to see the difference heat makes when watching them side-by-side. Eddy wisely went with what the crowd wanted and they wrestled as more of a babyface. Since he was just being thrown out in showcase matches to establish that he was back, he kind of just turned himself babyface during this time, which is impressive. I'm always really impressed at how well Psicosis grasped the American style and how he could switch roles on a dime as the moment called for it. Eddy does a fake-out when Psicosis attempts a high cross body which looks awesome to set him up for a frog splash and win. This is the good kind of TV wrestling!

[1999-06-24-RINGS] Kiyoshi Tamura vs Yoshihisa Yamamoto
I'm not quite sure I knew it was possible to be as good at wrestling as Tamura was in this match. This is by far the most dramatic shoot style match I have ever seen (and one of the most dramatic matches, period) that starts off with a Tamura slap during handshakes which sets the tone for an electric 20 minute draw. The technique displayed is just as amazing as always, but it was the flair for dramatics that set this apart from everything else I've ever seen. Tamura delivers a flurry in the final 2-3 minutes of the match that is quite possibly the best few minutes of wrestling I have ever seen. Just awe-inspiring stuff. Everything I am saying is about Tamura, but give Yammamoto all the credit in the world too. He was great in his own right and held his own on the mat against the best wrestler in the world. This show makes me wish RINGS had run Korakuen Hall regularly, because this is is a crowd that both appreciates and understands the style and also gets excited about it. The best of all worlds.

[1999-06-21-WCW-Nitro] Sting vs Sid Vicious
Just the DQ. Savage attacks Sting for the DQ. Lex Luger returns after a long absence and makes the save with a chair. No Wolfpac references anymore. I think Lex would disappear again for another couple of months if I remember right. Savage grabs the mic and says they will not quit until these guys are statistics. Sid rambles about something. Sting grabs the mic and says they have two words for them and lets the crowd say suck it. Laaammmeee. WCW is all about the 80s stars.

[1999-06-21-WCW-Nitro] Eddy Guerrero vs Juventud Guerrera
Eddy Guerrero is back! Juventud goes the nice route and gives him a hug, but Eddy will have none of it. Eddy was still the heel upon his return. They never really got the crowd hot, but this was a solid match with the cool highspots mixed in with Eddy's strategy, which Tony explained well, and Juventud having a really good night.

[1999-06-21-WCW-Nitro] Master P and Curt Hennig
They hold a birthday party for Silkk The Shocker in the middle of the ring. Curt Hennig shows up and promises that he comes in peace. His sudden accent is hilarious! He has a present for Master P, who wants Curt to open it because he doesn't trust him. It's a custom-made cowboy hat. Slikk The Shocker ends up stomping on the hat and they throw cake all over Hennig. Hennig is a trooper and bumps for the cake. This was fun.

[1999-06-21-WCW-Nitro] Lenny Lane and Lodi
Lodi tells Lenny Lane he thinks he can win his match tonight and they start this really stupid tease. Cowards. I know it's 1999 and not 2014, but if you want gay wrestlers, just call them gay or don't bother.
