September 2014 - The Month In Wrestling
I thought this would be something cool to start doing at the end of each month so that it's easy for people who want to go back and catch up on anything they've missed. I'll edit this first post with everyone's picks a week from now, but basically, what would you consider your Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 picks for wrestling this month? If there's a dispute over where something falls, I'll put that to the group as a whole to debate. Tier 1 - MOTYCs/All-time classics Tier 2 - Great matches that aren't quite MOTYC level but are still fantastic Tier 3 - Good/solid/fun/otherwise worth watching for various reasons Etc. - Memorable angles or promos Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 Etc.

Also, the bad reaction they got to the Rumble was widespread far beyond Internet fans and was quite justified. They showed themselves to be so incredibly out of touch that night, but thankfully they realized this and changed course quickly. Suddenly, Bryan was being talked about in serious terms by the announcers and Michael Cole started hyping that he *had* to avenge all of this wrongdoing at some point. On the RAW in Chicago, when HHH said "I am getting sick and tired of your crap!" and got kicked in the face, that's when I knew Bryan was winning at Mania. They don't give those extra comebacks to babyfaces they aren't building for something special.

While there are still detractors who won't make it easy sometimes, generally speaking, I think the more people keep getting called up that are HHH guys, the less you'll see undercutting. Bryan was probably the last guy we're going to see break through that HHH didn't make a pet project, although he did become one on the back end, and people do forget that Vince has always argued Bryan as a guy *he* made a star by tweaking him in a way that got over big. But still, according to a recent WON there was even talk of doing Rollins-Reigns at WM because it puts over HHH's Performance Center to have two of his guys in the title match.

2014 Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame thread
I think he came into Wrestlemania cold because The Streak had become such a strong thing that no one thought it would ever end, so it was impossible to create drama in the buildup or in the match itself when teasing finishes. Not that that changes your point as I fully agree, but I think it's something that hasn't been acknowledged enough.

The deadline
I guess my problem with the snapshot view of a Greatest Wrestler Ever poll is that it seems like the results often get cited in posts in years that follow as if it is empirical evidence of something more than that it really is. I've always believed that perfect is the enemy of good, which often works against me. And for the record, my goal has always been to get to a point where I only have to watch current stuff and any newly discovered past footage that surfaces. I could actually see myself getting to that point within five years or so, meaning the issue of not having a handle on every candidate actually wouldn't be there anymore. But we will see. I'm going full steam ahead with the idea I'll be ready to cast a ballot by the due date. I just hate to turn in something that I know is not all-encompassing. It seems unfair.

Vader
He has also worked All Japan, UWFI, CWA (in Europe) and even EMLL. He is the same everywhere, which is what I think his appeal is. Guys usually have to change up their game far more than Vader when they work in different environments. Yet he's able to just be Vader everywhere and it works.
