  1. The Nation are out to talk about the locker room vandalism. Vince apologizes on behalf of the WWF, but Faarooq isn't happy with that. The Rock gets mic time. The Nation wants the Harts in the ring next week. The Hart Foundation come out, and Bret accepts the challenge but also explains that there is no racial prejudice in Canada. Bret points out that it's obvious Shawn and Hunter are the ones behind this, which prompts a Titantron run-in from DX. Shawn calls Bret the Grand Wizard and a racist. HHH says their first choice for outfits was white sheets. DX accuses the Harts of using the n-word, which creates a brawl in Tulsa. Crazy scene with tons of heat, but I really, really hate this. It feels like a way to personally smear Bret on the way out the door.
  2. Age in the Cage, JIP. I'm pretty sure this is the same cage Flair and Luger used at Capital Combat. What we see of the match is really, really bad and has no heat. I love that Eddy vs Rey got way more over with this crowd. Multiple Stings show up. Savage interferes and does his crazy jump from the top of the cage that I think tore his ACL if I remember right. What a dumb spot that didn't even get a pop. Piper wins with the sleeper. Hogan and Savage handcuff Piper to the cage after as the crowd chants for Sting. Hogan puts on a Sting masks and whips Piper with a belt. The fan climbing the cage is a holy shit moment but what the hell is going on? This is all so weird and such a disaster and clusterfuck.
  3. I meant in the working style, not in death match tournaments specifically.
  4. I think this is the best of their series. I thought the extracurricular stuff with the referees was really well done, and Liz getting so involved before Kimberly chased her off was awesome, even if neither of them were capable of working a decent catfight. Page takes some big bumps and Savage has what is probably the last good match of his career. Dusty's "waitress tray" stuff is hilarious too.
  5. Last few minutes. Way too many atomic drops. Syxx runs in after Bischoff distracts Zbyszko and he reluctantly counts the fall to give Hall the win. Luger's push really ended after dropping the title back to Hogan. Anyway, Zbyszko insists on seeing the replay and then ends up restarting the match. Luger ends up putting Hall in the rack after a shoving match with Larry, giving Luger the win. Syxx tries to attack Zbyszko and ends up laid out. Hall then lays Larry out from behind and Bischoff gets in a few kicks. Hall counts a Bischoff fall on Zbyszko to set up Starrcade. Syxx's selling of Larry's hold is awesome.
  6. Yeah, Lorefice didn't really talk much about Jd'. I tried there since OJ had originally said in recommendations that I should include the build, but there were no comments indicating anything really, so I wasn't sure what to add.
  7. Last few minutes. Hennig tries to grab the title and bail but Flair won't let him. Flair wraps the belt around Hennig's head, then starts kicking him in the face. He ends up slugging the referee too, so the match gets thrown out. Referees run out and try to stop him and he's ready to fight them all. Vincent and Konnan are out to break this up, but they can't restrain Flair. I agree with Tony about how much I hate inconsistently applied security in wrestling. I mentioned that before and will do so again. Where are they during all of the NWO beatdowns?
  8. Savage and Liz hype up the Page match later tonight. Really good promo from Savage.
  9. Bischoff is upset that WCW has not been able to provide a safe working environment not only for Hogan, but for the fans. That's his big concern. Hogan is racked with guilt over this. As a result, Hogan refuses to wrestle tonight unless WCW provides a written contract that Sting is not allowed in the building. I somehow forgot that they ran this angle on the show.
  10. Good Lord! I have always liked this match, but I think I liked it more than ever this time. This is a near flawless match. Rey is awesome and I don't want to downplay his role in this, but Eddy gives one of the two or three best performances of the year. So much has been said about this match through the years that I don't feel the need to go on and on, but it's cool to see how the crowd comes unglued as this match goes on. They definitely won the people.
  11. Last few minutes. Bigelow gets a win and takes the title to set up November To Remember.
  12. Shane taunts the crowd in his Shane Douglas way before asking Rick Rude to give him another tough challenger. Rude is getting a mix of "You Sold Out", "You Fucked Shawn" and "You Fucked Chyna" chants. Classy. The implication is that Douglas is paying Rude by letting him have sex with Francine (who seems about ready to fall out of her dress). The crowd is completely ruining this and won't let them do whatever their angle is at all. This time, Rude has produced Bam Bam Bigelow as an opponent! He and Douglas are in a shoving match. Candido and Sunny are trying to reason with him to no avail.
  13. God bless Barry Houston. He was a great enhancement guy and has some really fun squashes in WCW. This is a nice match with some sequences that looked a little rough and uneven which was pretty cool. Finlay stiffs him a few times and check out the height Houston gets on the back body drop.
  14. I need to see more 80s Jaguar Yokota because she's a really great wrestler and athlete. I don't really know what the storyline is here, but Jag is the overmatched babyface fighting off Lioness and her heel group. Jaguar is like an equally athletic Toyota without the screaming and a better sense of pacing a match. This was a great match -- even if it did have too much outside interference -- that I wish I had a better idea of what specific things to include as lead-in for, because I think it might have resonated even more. It looks like the blowoff to a big angle that had been building for a long time, based on the finish and post-match elation. If someone can provide a list of matches with dates that led to this, I'll include it on the Errata.
  15. Something is going on with Doug Gilbert before the match, but there's an echo in the building that makes the audio really hard to make out so I have no idea. I give these guys credit for trying to bring FMW to the U.S. indy scene, but this match made me appreciate Onita's guys so much more. This works and needed to be on the yearbook, but I don't need to see it again.
  16. This isn't nearly as great as their match in January, but that was a MOTD contender, so I won't fault them too much for that. I thought it was interesting that Kobashi entered this match with a huge bullseye on his leg and Misawa never targeted it, so I don't know if they were trying to recapture the Kawada dynamic or what. I thought this match was really well-worked, but I also thought it was unusually slow paced for these guys for big parts of it, and I'm not sure what new ground was broken in the rivalry. I can appreciate it a lot as a standalone title defense, but Misawa vs Kobashi as a series doesn't really seem to have the same match-to-match progression and overarching theme that Misawa vs Kawada did.
  17. Thanks to Grimmas, Nintendo Logic, Johnny Sorrow and KrisZ for being guests on this show!
  18. Will and Charles are joined by members of www.prowrestlingonly.com to discuss the career and legacy of Bret Hart. We take a brief look at his early days traveling the globe, wrestling in Stampede, forming the Hart Foundation, finding success as a singles wrestler and his most famous feuds. If you are a fan of the Hitman, you owe it yourself to listen to this show! http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-...ting-bret-hart/
  19. I like it, but at the same time it pushes my buttons and still makes me mad years later. It's like I'm pissed off, but I have to hand it to these guys because I do realize that I'm being worked, if that makes sense. I don't recall Shawn and HHH making out, but I would imagine Vince would be jealous of that.
  20. Kawada does a lot to put over Takayama here, but this match is also on the bland side. It's cool for the novelty and it's well-worked, but it's not really all that dynamic until the finishing sequence, which I loved. If UWFI still existed, this would be a pretty disappointing match on that card. Not in the same league as the Albright match.
  21. Much better than you'd expect from these two. This is the best I've ever seen Ace look. There's still an awkwardness to everything he does, but he does a lot and looks like he belongs. They have to work really hard to pull the crowd into this -- I think because it's Taue vs Ace -- but they eventually do.
  22. Loss replied to Smack2k's topic in WWE
It took them forever to name the gogoplata too. I'm sure it will happen at some point.
  23. Hogan, Savage and Bischoff are back later in the show. "No heart, no soul, no will to win. No, I'm not talking about Vince McMahon." -- Eric Bischoff Hogan is out to apologize for overreacting earlier. He gave the babyfaces too much credit. He forgot how awesome he really is. Then two Stings hit the ring and attack Hogan and Savage. It turns out to be Page and Piper. Another Sting gets attacked by the other NWO guys on the way to the ring. Then the cage lowers and the crowd is going crazy. Suddenly, the real Sting descends from the rafters into the cage. None of this makes any sense and it sort of feels like cocaine-induced booking, but it's effective.
  24. Hogan, Savage and Bischoff are back and still pissed off. There is a cage above the ring and no one knows why.
