  1. Got it. I removed everything from the Samurai and Satellite lists that was already in the original list.
  2. Leaving only commercial and NTV in the original post?
  3. Sure, maybe we cut these if we need room? This makes me think we should completely bypass "30" TV and aim to only include complete All Japan matches. This is obviously way more than we can include, but if there's something someone has seen from this list that should be considered, I think we should include it. We should be able to represent the Carnival and tag league pretty well. What would be an ideal list of 30-35 matches for All Japan?
  5. Sure. These stand out to me from the links you posted as possibly being worth considering. Does anyone know anything about any of these? 6. BattlARTS. 21 matches here. We need to get this down to about 10-15, so quite a few cuts are needed. 7. Michinoku Pro: Mens Teoh vs Shoichi Funaki (Michinoku Pro 01/14/98) Great Sasuke, Gran Hamada & Tiger Mask IV vs Dick Togo, Shoichi Funaki & Super Boy (Michinoku Pro 01/16/98) Yoshihiro Taijiri, Mens Teoh & Shoichi Funaki vs Gran Hamada, Naohiro Hoshikawa & Masato Yakushiji (Michinoku Pro 03/01/98) Naohiro Hoshikawa vs Gran Naniwa (Michinoku Pro 05/31/98) Super Delphin vs Naohiro Hoshikawa (Michinoku Pro 06/21/98) I do want to represent this group some, even though they were on the decline by this time. Still, I think everything after the January matches would be very easy to cut and wouldn't be too missed.
  8. Current All Japan list. 27 matches represented, with 24 of them "complete" (as complete as possible anyway). Mitsuharu Misawa vs Jun Akiyama (AJPW 01/26/98) + Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs Steve Williams & Gary Albright (AJPW 02/28/98) (Finish only) + Mitsuharu Misawa vs Johnny Ace (AJPW 02/28/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa vs Akira Taue (AJPW 03/22/98) -- Toshiaki Kawada vs Jun Akiyama (AJPW 03/26/98) -- Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada (AJPW Championship Carnival 03/29/98) + Kenta Kobashi vs Jun Akiyama (AJPW Championship Carnival 04/11/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa vs Jun Akiyama (AJPW Championship Carnival 04/18/98) + Jun Akiyama vs Hiroshi Hase (AJPW Tokyo Dome 05/01/98) + Kenta Kobashi & Johnny Ace vs Vader & Stan Hansen (AJPW Tokyo Dome 05/01/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada (AJPW Tokyo Dome 05/01/98) + Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs Kenta Kobashi & Johnny Ace (AJPW 06/05/98) + Toshiaki Kawada vs Kenta Kobashi (AJPW 06/12/98) + Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs Yoshihiro Takayama & Masahito Kakihara (AJPW 07/19/98) * Jun Akiyama & Hiroshi Hase vs Kenta Kobashi & Taiyo Kea (AJPW 07/19/98) * Gary Albright & Yoshihiro Takayama vs Akira Taue & Jun Izumida (AJPW 07/24/98) (Finish only) + Kenta Kobashi vs Jun Akiyama (AJPW 07/24/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa, Jun Akiyama & Satoru Asako vs Kenta Kobashi, Johnny Ace & Johnny Smith (AJPW 08/22/98) * Mitsuharu Misawa, Jun Akiyama & Satoru Asako vs Toshiaki Kawada, Yoshinari Ogawa & Takao Omori (AJPW 08/23/98) * Jun Akiyama vs Yoshinari Ogawa (AJPW 09/11/98) * Toshiaki Kawada vs Masahito Kakihara (AJPW 09/11/98) * Kenta Kobashi vs Akira Taue (AJPW 09/11/98) + Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama (AJPW 10/11/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa & Takao Omori vs Kenta Kobashi & Jinsei Shinzaki (AJPW 10/24/98) (Finish only) + Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi (AJPW 10/31/98) + Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa vs Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama (AJPW Real World Tag League 11/30/98) * Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama vs Stan Hansen & Vader (AJPW Real World Tag League 12/05/98) + + - Commercial release -- - Samurai TV * - "30" TV
  9. I'm enjoying the Onita/Tanaka stuff, but I remember thinking this before and still think it - Onita doesn't have as much physical charisma with shorter hair. Very good match that to their credit is not at all 15 minutes of pushing guys against barbed wire. This is pretty action packed and fast-paced, actually. Tanaka is the star of this as the bloody underdog with the cool moves. Just like the previous six-man, the finishing sequence is the highlight. Onita winning pisses me off because I wanted Tanaka to beat him, but it is what it is.
  10. There have been rumors that Raven and Stevie have reconciled. Raven treats him like shit the whole time, then turns on him. After a ref bump, Louie Spicolli runs in. Stevie finally secures the win for his team but at some point Stevie needs to beat up Raven.
  11. Every single promo here is a response to RVD appearing on RAW. Chris Candido, Rick Rude, Raven, The Pit Bulls, The Sandman, Bill Alfonso, Terry Funk, Shane Douglas, Spike Dudley, Louie Spicolli, Tommy Dreamer, Joel Gertner and the Dudleys, The Eliminators, the FBI (who steal this!), Chris Chetti, Francine, Beulah McGillicutty, Balls Mahoney and Tod Gordon all have comments about it. This ends with him being suspended indefinitely. I like the singular focus of this, and I crack up at all the sellout comments from people who would jump ship as the year would go on.
  12. Clip from last week's TV where Dutch Mantell gets in Stacy Carter's face about Lawler losing at Mid South Coliseum. She tries to slap him and he accuses her of "domestic abuse"! Lawler is out to break this up and they have a pretty spirited impromptu match with some great brawling and Dutch in street clothes. Dutch ends up whipping Lawler with Shoo Baby but takes off when Lawler starts making a comeback. "I don't know what's wrong with Dutch Mantell. I think all that hair must have gotten tangled around his brain!" -- Lance Russell Dutch sends in a taped promo explaining his side of everything and makes clear that Lawler doesn't intimidate him. This WWE Actor Wayne Keown has still got it!
  13. Takaiwa brings the attitude here in his first chronological singles match on a yearbook that we have in full. He was awesome here, and Kanemoto may have been carrying the match as the more experienced of the two, but Takaiwa had the more dynamic performance. Kanemoto schools Takaiwa on his attitude problem by kicking him in the face multiple times and tying him in the ring ropes. Even the referee takes a bump when things get too heated. Takaiwa gets over in a big way for coming back just as aggressively no matter how much Kanemoto does to him, almost like he's the Steve Austin of the New Japan juniors. The reverse top rope rana spot was pretty wild. As great as this match is, this shows that Kanemoto is nowhere in Liger's league at being The Man against a younger opponent. But man does he make Takaiwa look like a million bucks. If Kanemoto keeping Takaiwa's attitude in check is this good, I can only imagine Liger doing it. Big win for Takaiwa!
  14. Pretty good match, but it does play off of Taijiri's cockiness in their Tokyo Dome match a little, so I wish we could have included that match too. Here, Otani isn't so quick to underestimate Taijiri and goes after him aggressively right away. Taijiri works from underneath doing stuff like chop blocks and flash pin attempts to come back from Otani's offense. When he goes after Otani's knee a few times, it's not part of any game plan, it's more because it's the only thing he can do to create some space. Taijiri manages to make an impression with this crowd, and they pack a lot of action and energy into this 11 minutes and 44 seconds. Taijiri gets a huge upset, which I absolutely hate as a finish, but everything else about this is golden.
  15. Syxx jumps Flair right at the bell and Flair rallies a big comeback. This match is over after about a minute when Hall and Nash come in to lay out Flair. No babyfaces are there to help him, which the announcers explain. The NWO beat up every referee that tries to break this up and cut a pretty strong heel promo to wrap things up.
  16. Asheville is excited to see Flair. Flair claims that he erased self doubt last night and it was the biggest thrill of his career. It's not his best promo, but he's at least not really a parody anymore. He looks like he's about to announce another big run for Hogan, but he is quickly interrupted by Syxx. Flair takes off his jacket when Syxx gets in his face. Syxx talks about how he dominated Flair last night and he proved that he can take him. He challenges him to a match right here and now in the ring. Flair calls him a fly in the ointment and they get into a fight that spills over to the broadcast booth. Flair seems to be embracing this feud a little bit more now.
  17. Last few minutes of Steve Austin vs Jim Neidhart, with Brian Pillman on commentary. Austin goes after Pillman at ringside and Pillman responds by running in and attacking Austin with his crutch. Does everyone have a crutch to use as a weapon in both promotions? Shawn makes the save and starts clearing the ring with a chair. While Shawn is distracted, Austin picks up the chair and Shawn turns around just in time. Jim Ross comes in the ring to tell Austin and Shawn next week that they'll be tag team partners based on direction from Gorilla Monsoon then hightails it. Good decision, as Austin and Shawn get in a fight of their own that the referees have to pull apart.
  18. Paul Bearer announced last week that he had a secret to unveil to the world about the Undertaker. Vince asks him if he would like to respond, and Undertaker dodges the question. He'd rather talk about Faarooq and a poorly hyped PPV main event where Faarooq cried racism and Undertaker accused him of playing the race card. Vince asks him again at the end and Undertaker says now is not the time. Paul Bearer interrupts on the Titantron, completely covered in a face bandage and screaming. Tremendous. Bearer talks about the burial of Undertaker's parents and a secret that he promised then he would never reveal. Undertaker asks him to wait, and Bearer gives Undertaker one week to return to his side or he will "open Pandora's box" and reveal the big secret. I look forward to tracking the supposed history of the Undertaker/Kane relationship EXACTLY as it's told to us.
  19. Speaking of Sunny, Jim Cornette knocks on her locker room door in a harassing manner and she destroys him with the Super Soaker. That's just mean!
  20. Bret is no longer in the wheelchair. At least he's still on crutches. Bret is undeterred and wants to now share his surprise that he intended to share last week. Bret does some really awesome heeling on the crowd before finally getting around to his surprise -- he wants a match with Shawn Michaels at King of the Ring where if he can't beat him in 10 minutes, he'll never wrestle in the United States again. Shawn responds and takes a shot at Bret for running over last week. He rightfully points out that if he can't beat Shawn in 60 minutes at Wrestlemania, what makes him think he can do it in 10 minutes? Shawn wants the entire Hart Foundation at ringside handcuffed to each post and says Bret couldn't go 10 minutes in any situation even though lately he has had some "Sunny days" … aaaannndddd shit just got real. Bret immediately promised after they got to the back that he would go after Shawn as soon as his injured knee healed, and this apparently caused problems in the Hart household. Still fascinating watching all of this play out week-to-week.
  21. Recap of the angle from the previous week, only this time they show the conclusion of the angle so that we see Shawn superkick Bret. You might think this would be good enough for Shawn to let it go, but Shawn did no such thing. Shawn ducking and running from everyone forever before the numbers finally caught up was great stuff. Davey Boy was about to throw Shawn off the stage when Austin made the save with a crutch and a big brawl broke out.
  22. Jerry Lawler calls Rob Van Dam the only piece of talent in ECW and has the potential to be the Tiger Woods of the WWF. However, ECW took legal action after RVD was on RAW last week (highlights are shown) and RVD cannot come back on RAW.
  23. The first installment of the Mankind interviews with Jim Ross! This is frighteningly good … even better than the Goldust ones. Footage was mixed in of Mick jumping off of his roof as Dude Love, which from my understanding was a rare thing circulated in trading communities prior to this. This was step one in Mick Foley becoming a major star in the promotion.
  24. Pretty sure that thread happened at DVDVR.
  25. From my understanding, he practiced on a sketch pad regularly and eventually drew very well.
