[1991-03-09-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Sgt Slaughter
Slaughter with another great heel interview, and this time, he burns a Hulk Rules t-shirt. They must have doused the thing this time, because the poster was slow to burn while this went up in flames ridiculously fast.

[1991-03-09-WWF-Superstars] Update: Virgil/Ted Dibiase update
They announce that Piper has been in a motorcycle accident, but that he will definitely be in Virgil's corner at Wrestlemania. They recap the Virgil babyface turn from the Rumble, along with a recent Virgil vs Haku match with Piper and DiBiase in the respective corners. Virgil gets a big upset after a Piper distraction. We close out with a promo from DiBiase. I love this feud.

[1991-03-09-WCW-Pro] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Fabulous Freebirds
Short match, which is for the best, as the Freebirds were rapidly deteriorating, and this was a really good short match and you wouldn't know that by seeing them here. They crammed a lot of great tag team spots into a sub-five minute match. Great finish! The Steiners win the tag titles.

[1991-03-09-Hamada's UWF] Perro Aguayo & Villano I & Villano III & Villano IV vs El Brazo & Brazo de Oro & Brazo de Plata & Super Brazo
This was just a near continuous stream of rudo miscommunication spots with the Brazos and it was glorious. The Villanos brought some great athletic spots. Everything was really well-exeucted. There was never a real sense of danger or any selling from either side, which made this feel slightly exhibition-like. But it was still a good match and was filled with lots of creative sequences.

[1991-03-08-USWA Texas] Eric Embry & Steve Austin vs Bill Dundee & Gary Young
This is super. Embry knows that Dundee and Young aren't good friends or anything, so he actively places them in spots to try to create dissension that almost work. At one point, Embry and Austin are cheering them on and they realize what is happening and go after Embry and Austin instead in a fun spot. Gary Young is FIP in this one and does a hell of a job, selling beautifully and teasing comebacks at just the right time. The crowd really wasn't into him much early on - I think because they were so used to seeing him as a heel - and he got them solidly behind him. Dundee pins Embry shortly after the hot tag, but the heels win the war, as they attack them after the match and handcuff them to the ring ropes. Tom Pritchard leaves the broadcast booth to help with the beatdown, and JC The Ice Baby brings Austin a special loaded glove. They seem to be setting up Dundee/Embry and Austin/Young feuds, which makes sense based on the upcoming matches on the yearbook. This was surprisingly excellent.

[1991-03-04-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Big Boss Man and Bobby Heenan
We get the closet cam from earlier in the show. Heenan and Vince are getting ready for the show in the locker room and Heenan is constantly joking about the Big Boss Man's mother before the mystery guest the Big Boss Man shows up. Heenan immediately cowers. They already started teasing a post-WM feud with the Mountie. Heenan accidentally lets a comment slip about how Boss Man was raised and gets handcuffed to the mini-ringpost in the studio. Later in the show, Boss Man comes out accompanied by his mother, who proceeds to beat Bobby with her purse! She looks like Virginia Kelley. I wasn't aware that she ever made an appearance.

[1991-03-04-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan and Paul Bearer
Vince has changed to another amazing outfit. Paul Bearer shows up in the Prime Time studio dressed in scrubs??? He starts pulling out random body parts, and Bobby Heenan suddenly vomits. Paul Bearer in scrubs, flanked by Vince McMahon in a lime green and zebra striped wind suit, ripping body parts out of a dummy. What the FUCK am I watching?

[1991-03-03-WCW-Main Event] Danger Zone: Sting and Larry Zbyszko
Zbyszko claims that he has been chasing Ric Flair for a title shot his entire career and has never gotten one. He blames Sting for getting all the title shots and calls him out. Larry slaps him and they get in a heated brawl. Eventually, wrestlers fill the ring and separate them. Larry is great here, and this brawl looks really good!

[1991-03-03-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Wrestlemania VII Report
The real highlight here is that when Martel is doing his promo, the line on the wall behind him looks like it's actually going through his head. The fake Queen of England makes an appearance, as does the Real Willie Nelson. I wonder if Dusty's feelings were hurt. Regis Philbin is worried about guest hosting Wrestlemania.

[1991-03-03-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Hulk Hogan
We've seen the best of Hogan and the worst of Hogan at times. This is somewhere in the middle. His angles and acting are so transparently phony and over the top that it's hard to invest in them, but I also can't deny that they are effective.

[1991-03-02-WCW-Saturday Night] Sting, El Gigante, Ric Flair and Barry Windham
Sting and El Gigante are having a match against Magnum Force. Ric Flair and Barry Windham are out and scream by Jim Ross about what they're going to do to these two. A brawl breaks out with Flair taking some bumps in his suit, which is always awesome, and Gigante counts Sting down for a three count. This is all to hype a Flair/Sting cage match at the Omni with El Gigante as the special referee. Flair is great here, but all I can think watching this after the Nikita segment is how obvious it is that Dusty was going back to the well. I don't remember that aspect of this booking run at all, but it's been pretty predominant.

[1991-03-02-WCW-Saturday Night] Lex Luger vs Nikita Koloff feud recap
Recap of the Luger/Nikita angle from Wrestle War. This segues to a video of Nikita working out that looks straight out of 1985. This has Dusty Rhodes written all over it, but the noises start to get creepy.

[1991-03-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Team Texas and Eddie Gilbert
Team Texas quickly attacks Eddie Gilbert during a squash until Jeff Jarrett makes the save. After this, Gilbert agrees to team with Jarrett to get revenge, giving up his shot. Together, they talk Lawler into being in their corner. Not crazy about this setup.

[1991-03-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jeff Jarrett, Eddie Gilbert and Jerry Lawler
Monday night at MSC, there will be a round-robin series between these three for the World title. Awesome! Jarrett asks if he can get a match with Team Texas if he can pull out of the tournament. Eddie Marlin grants him the match. Jarrett asks Lawler to be his partner, but Lawler is reluctant to give up a title shot. Gilbert is too, so Jarrett has to go find a partner. Steve Austin replaces Jarrett in the tournament. Lawler is always good as an interview, but I didn't like how this segment made Jarrett look like an idiot.

[1991-03-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler & Eddie Gilbert vs Eric Embry & Tom Pritchard / Team Texas and Jeff Jarrett
The finish of what looks to be a great match from Mid South Coliseum. Cool spot, as there's a ref bump and they both reach for their chains. But Gilbert gets the first punch. He pins Embry, but there's no ref there to count yet. Embry ends up hitting Gilbert with what is billed as a "metal pipe" but looks more like a candle lighter, giving Embry and Pritchard the win. Back in the studio, Jarrett is out for a squash. Tom Pritchard attacks his opponent and Jarrett and Pritchard have a hot impromptu brawl before Embry runs in. They beat on Jarrett until he bleeds until finally, Lawler clears the ring with a chair. Gilbert is out to provide back-up and the heels bail. Good stuff.

[1991-03-02-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Ultimate Warrior
To prove that he can end careers, Warrior completely destroys the Brother Love set. He chases him all over the building and finally to ringside where he beats him up with a series of short clotheslines. Paramedics are out to take him away, and just like that, Brother Love is GONE. I liked the act, but it was about time.
