Highlights of what looks to be a GREAT match. I love them going crazy with the baseball bats right away, and Dundee's top rope kneedrop is terrific and the finish is outstanding. Awesome heat. Probably would have been on my top 100 in full, maybe even near the top. The post-match continues the excitement, with handcuffs, baseball bats and back and forth brawling repeatedly finding their way into this. Jeff Jarrett finally runs off the heels. There's no way this isn't one of the best matches of the year. Back in the studio, Dundee sends in a taped promo from Texas hyping the next match. But this time, have a Texas Tornado Bunkhouse Match. I want complete matches, damnit! Tom Burton won't just be handcuffed, he'll be shackled. Then, he'll have Tessa handcuffed to his left hand and Dirty White Girl handcuffed to his right hand. No problem with this feud continuing whatsoever, but the repetition in the booking, and how they keep baiting and switching with Dirty White Girl getting any comeuppance from Tessa, would already be old if the performances weren't so good. Gilbert and Dirty White Boy keep teasing coming out during Lawler's promo, but Lawler has two baseball bats in his hand and is holding them at bay. Photographer Sam Lowe gets bullied by Gilbert in what I take as a copy of the Randy Savage/Jimmy Suzuki angle. We'll see him again later. Gilbert throws coffee on him and sends him on his way, because he took a picture of the heels in a compromised position. DWB shows off a picture of his woman. Four great workers and great talkers -- this feud has it all.

In general, the WON readers like Garvin as a challenger to Flair, and turned on him when he won the title.

Of course, we have to mention the Jimmy Snuka spot for WWF ice cream bars. The Road Warriors are the guests, and they have an early theme that isn't quite the same as their standard theme. Just being on Brother Love alone confirms that they will not be used the way they should be, as they could have gotten over so much more not being a part of segments like this. Brother Love and Vince fake laughing ... sometimes the WWF can't help but be the WWF.

They show the recent turn of Hercules and Paul Roma, forming POWER AND GLORY, a team that had an awesome look and gimmick but didn't have enough else going for them to make it in the long run. I always liked this angle. They announce Slick as their manager. I will give Vince credit for giving it an honest go.

Last few minutes. I'm guessing this was Misawa's first shot at the Triple Crown after unmasking and beating Jumbo. Now, I'm thinking this should have gone on in full for that reason alone, although no one really lobbied for it. I know the rep Hansen/Misawa matches have, but the crowd is definitely into this. Misawa does a plancha to nowhere in a scary spot and eventually gets finished off by Hansen. This didn't look bad at all from the last few minutes. The most interesting thing about this to me - more than anything else - is Misawa's fan support.

My favorite story from this time period was that Arsenio wanted to book NWA guys because he preferred the style, but Herd refused to let anyone go on because they also booked WWF wrestlers. I don't know what to say about Rude's entirely leopard print outfit, but this is a pretty good appearance. Heenan thrives in segments like this, and Rude is pretty good too. Rude reveals Arsenio tights in a funny moment at the end.

YES! Dawna's TV stardom appears to have gone to her head, as she's gotten a makeover and is more scantily clad. Tony Atlas is phenomenal here. He's the only world champ in the business that doesn't have to hide his face behind paint because he's that good looking. This is such a must-see segment. One of the funniest things on any yearbook.

Sweet Brown Sugar is finishing off a match when Iceman grabs the house mic and says he's going to beat up on Uncle Tom, and teach him what being black is all about. Jarrett comes out and jumps Iceman and we've got ourselves another pull-apart brawl. Sweet Brown Sugar emcees the crowd into wanting to see another fight, which is dumb if they're not going to let them, but this remains a fantastic segment.

Steve Austin thanks Percy Pringle, a total class act as far as he's concerned. Jeanne says anything Toni can do she can do ten times better, and if you don't believe her, just ask Chris. Now things really heat up. Jeanne reveals recent pictures of Chris Adams and she asks him to personally deliver them to Toni Adams.

How did they not get sued for this? Cowabunga is watching TV, but doesn't have a remote control. He turns on wrestling and gets excited. I can't figure out what he's watching, but it's Lawler in a cage match, so I'd probably be excited too. The hand of Splinter (!!) makes a cameo and he warns Cowabunga that he is about to face his most difficult fight with evil - Jeff Gaylord! Tremendous.

A studio match! Gilbert hides a foreign object, which serves Lawler right after all those months of doing the same to other people. The Dirty White Boys run in to help Gilbert and Gilbert goes to throw fire at Lawler and accidentally hits Burton! Suddenly, Memphis is a really hot territory, no pun intended. One great segment after another.

More highlights of good stuff from MSC. DWB pins Dundee after Burton runs in to roll him on top for the pin. The referee ended up reversing the decision even though he didn't see the offense, which is just not cool any way you look at it. Tessa makes her way over to Dirty White Girl, but DWB intervenes and handcuffs her again and turns the tables so Dirty White Girl can get unlocked and attack Tessa. This is overbooked - if they were going to get to the same end result, why even reverse the decision? I guess they felt like stripping Tessa down to her bra would make up for that little bait and switch. Jarrett and Travis are finally out to run off the heels. Lawler is out for an interview. He's *beloved*, and all is well in the world again. The heels come out to try to triple team him and Dundee is out with a baseball bat before they can do anything and we have an awesome studio brawl. They hype the rematch this Monday night, and this time Tom Burton will be handcuffed too, so we won't have a repeat of last week. Uh, that wasn't exactly the problem. Tessa speaks! I think she's a drug addict! After the commercial break, we get a furious Dirty White Boy wanting a Texas Death Match! I support this idea. Dirty White Girl tries, but she should not talk. I love this feud! Michael St. John is a solid announcer too.

I love this Summerslam music. I was liking Hogan's promo until he started with the natural disaster metaphors, but this is still a vast improvement over Wrestlemania talk. I'll take it. Hogan-Earthquake gets the lion's share of the hype while Gene cavalierly mentions "the other half of the main event" when discussing Rude/Warrior. It's a legit point - Hogan/Earthquake had a much better storyline, but it's also interesting that they figured out quickly there was a problem. They are still toying with Warrior's look.
