  1. Finish of a Terrence Garvin squash. Kerry attacks both Garvin and his opponent. He claims he was blinded by friendship, and because of that, his brother has been hurt. He threatens Borne and wants a fight. John Brazille is down to make the match, and there we go. Kerry is giving up his world title shot to get his hands on the Maniac.
  2. Lawler still hates the Sportatorium. Good promo, as always, but I'm ready for him to turn babyface. We're getting there.
  3. Borne is upset that Kerry won't wrestle him. He calls Kerry a coward and CHRIS VON ERICH, who Matt calls "the Von Erich family gimmick", shows up to ask what's going on. He's pretty whiney and doesn't get to say much before Matt slaps the *shit* out of him and throws him around. Kerry is out quickly to save and Borne is officially a heel. He's really good here.
  4. SUPER SONIC TEXAS WRESTLING EVERY MONDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT. NAWA repackaging.
  5. Marc Lowrance bids thee adieu. Kerry Von Erich and Jeff Jarrett are out to offer Marc a plaque and honor him, and he seems to be enjoying the attention, which I can't blame him too much for. Marc wants to talk to Kerry about the Matt Borne situation, and Kerry says they will talk later. Marc looks right at the camera and goes into quite the monologue of thanks. About as classy as Dallas wrestling was ever going to get.
  6. They show a clip from Worldwide of the Freebirds attacking the Rock & Roll Express and whipping Ricky Morton with a belt. This doesn't have the heat you would think, even though it's a good little brawl. The Birds are gloating about it at Center Stage. Garvin is barely awake here, but Hayes can cut a hell of a promo. The Rock & Rolls show up with belts, and the Birds bail. Cornette ends up left in the ring with them, and Cornette tries sucking up to them. Cornette ends up leading the crowd in a "rock and roll" chant in a hilarious moment. Good segment.
  7. Ole points out that the Horsemen still have one surprise. I wish they hadn't dumped Woman around this time, because she's such a natural fit for this group. Flair is awesome in this, ponytail and all.
  8. Earlier in this show (in a clip we sadly couldn't find), Sting and Luger *officially* solidified their friendship. Luger was scheduled to face Dutch Mantell and the Horsemen bought Dutch's contract, giving us a Flair vs Luger match, with Sting in Luger's corner. Ole, who negotiated the whole surprise Flair/Luger match, is in Flair's corner. So that's the setup here. Pretty big match for syndication. Bill Apter is at ringside, which is a clue we're going to get an angle. Flair wears the ponytail during the match, which starts to fall as the match progresses. He looks a mess, like George Washington first thing in the morning. The crowd is VERY hot for this, solidly behind Luger. Good match, not as good of a match as these two usually had around this time, but it's still good. It's just abbreviated. Luger even corrects the figure four issue from Wrestle War and applies it well here. The Horsemen run in and attack Luger. Lex is holding his own until BARRY WINDHAM shows up at ringside in a big surprise, attacks Sting, then runs in to help attack Luger. Flair now gets his hands on Sting, with every stomp on his knee getting sold like crazy and the crowd totally losing it. Flair is about to apply the figure four, when pretty much every babyface in the promotion has to run in to hold off the Horsemen. Great stuff.
  9. Warrior finally gets around to acknowledging Rude, in his typically astute way. He tells Rick Rude he plans to eat him alive, and I don't think that's a metaphor.

No, no need for it to be an omnibus grammar thread. It's also not to single anyone out for bad writing. The problem is more that the criticism of FLIK's spelling gets repeated over and over, and he contributes so many other positives in terms of enthusiasm and match recommendations that it's not a big deal for me. So the purpose of this is for everyone to get it out of their systems so we can move past it. This is targeted more at FLIK's critics than FLIK.

Complain about it in this thread. Let FLIK respond to it here. Then, let it be a dead issue either way. I'll keep this posted for one week. So, thear!
  12. Jerry Jarrett complains about cheap heat.
  13. I don't know about "most disgusting", but I still think "dumbest" was reinforcing the message that the past was better than the present by putting a part-time movie star over your biggest star that is carrying the company, on the biggest, most-watched show of all time. But hey, I'm in the minority.
  14. Lex Luger is not in the HOF. If he was, he would be in because of the crowds the Flair feud drew in the dying days of JCP, a few months before the buyout. The Flair/Luger feud in 1990 was comparatively better than what was around it, but still played to a lot of crowds of 2,000 - 5,000 - a pathetic number for a national promotion.
  15. I think you can start from either but I always say November 1988 since that is when Turner bought JCP.
  16. At one point, the idea was to pair Ole with Luger, and then have Luger reform the Horsemen with the returning Arn and Tully to really put heat on Flair/Luger as a feud. I think that might have worked.
  17. The best of the trios matches so far. There are no weak links in this, but Satanico is a step above everyone. Great action with everyone doing their part very well, but really, this is the Satanico show through and through.
  18. For those of you who don't know him, meet John Tatum, the most delusional douchebag in wrestling history. He's awesome. The beginning of a pretty epic summertime feud here. Tatum sure loves Tessa, and keeps doing moves with the goal of impressing her and showing off. Tessa seems to slowly be leaving his side and is not impressed. Tatum ends up using something from Tessa's purse as a weapon and brings home the win.

  20. Awesome, early stuff between these two. Waltman looks to weigh about 160 if we're being generous. They pull out all the stops right away, and the dives look even more dangerous considering the low ceiling in the building. Hell of a brawl. Lynn starts bleeding pretty early and picks up a table and throws it at Kid. There are some great moves and highspots, but these guys are wise beyond their years in how they work them into a match layout and build heat. There's also tons of aggression and this has feel of a match that has gotten completely out of hand. Kid isn't happy to lose the match and ends up attacking Lynn and pouring beer from a fan on him. I expected this to be a really strong hidden gem. I didn't expect it to be one of the best matches of the year, but it is. Can't wait to see their other matches.
  21. Flair is amazing here, but the bigger story is that this is the yearbook debut of the RIC FLAIR PONYTAIL! Flair has some unkind words for AWA champ Larry Zbyszko.
  22. Mainly put on here for the reason the thread title says. Just the show closing credits to Frank Stallone's "Far From Home".
  23. They show Bad News Brown getting the rubber snake (which is a super lame way to start a feud) from the previous week. Jake is such a great talker, sending a warning to Bad News that he will see the snake again.
  24. Why does Tony Atlas have to keep talking to us morons? He's traveled the world, and he still hasn't found another man on his level. Phil Apollo is the TRAITOR OF ALL TRAITORS and Vic Steamboat doesn't understand that this is wrestling, not ju-jitsu. "Ladies, when you see a man like men, don't cha wish you never marry your husbands?" This promo is proof positive he still could have contributed in a major promotion.
  25. The yearbook debut of DAWNA, the most awesome interviewer in wrestling history. She has a very thick Joisey accent (and very big Joisey hair) and asks Super Duper Mario a series of high school newspaper-style questions after declaring him the Wrestler of the Month. I'm not sure I know why she ended up on TV or who she was, but I'm so glad she's with us. I refuse to believe that someone wrote in to ask what Super Duper Mario likes to do in his spare time, though.
