Abby debuted in 1958 so yeah, he's wrestled in 7 decades. Funk (1965 debut) has now wrestled in 6. I don't think Mae will end up with 8 unless they put her in a match that involves no physical activity.

Thanks...and I should really go fix that. In hindsight, I think that Doc was sort of weirdly underrated. Almost unanimously considered a great wrestler but under-appreciated.

Ridiculous quotes from WO.com columnists
I'm not even sure if that's the stupidest thing that he said there: TNA was a fresh and exciting show that made them look like the hot promotion because the opener was a terrible mess and the rest of the show was a rehash of the Russo & Bischoff reset Nitro? Really?

The Gary Hart book is top-flight. Great, great stuff. He said Sting was a hypocrite who hated jobbing, had no respect for anyone, and would openly mock mentally retarded people in public.

I don't understand why we need live PBP from both Dave AND Ben Miller.

This is it. Transcripts of Funk's promos for the match were included in his book as part of a chapter on promos.

Jesse Ventura
It seems like his commentary's generally included for full shows in anthologies or compilations where he announced a relatively decent amount of matches.

Shocking, isn't it?- What if...
Here's a version that doesn't have the text formatting issues. I agree that Gilbert ECW is the least of any Gilbert booking run that I've seen (haven't seen any of the few shows he did for WWC before he died) and that he didn't seem like he put his heart into it, but Eddie Gilbert's worst is a lot better than Gabe Sapolsky's best. Didn't Gilbert book Memphis during his post-ECW run? That stuff was pretty good so it wasn't like he'd run out of steam. As far as the "what if" stuff, he probably would've had some booking gigs for other promotions around Tennessee/Kentucky/Indiana/Mississippi, like how Dundee booked for Bert Prentice at least once.- Comments that don't warrant a thread
So we can assume Rey will miss Mania due to surgery? Or will he be in MITB? Or Punk's opponent if they can't use Hardy? Last word was that Rey's gonna work through WM.- Ridiculous quotes from WO.com columnists
That was quite possibly the most Meltzerian passage that I've ever seen in the WON.- 1998 WrestleMania VHS Releases
That's Legacy. WM5 from that set accidentally omits Piper's Pit (which was also partially edited on the Anthology for no apparent reason, making me wonder if their master is damaged).- What if...
I'm guessing that Bix is referring to Gabe not being a big fan of Mexicans. When doing play by play for an ROH show in '04 with Mark Nulty they were talking about masks and Nulty mentioned how Mil Mascaras used to wear his mask everywhere and Gabe said (really quietly under his breath) "That's because he has the face of a Mexican." Correct. Someone once tried to defend it by saying that Gabe's commentator character under an alias was a heel, but he wasn't.- Best of the Decade
That is really was Saturn was all about ? The rape story was a work ? Well, at least one ex-wife was looking for him mentioned that he (obviously since he disappeared) hadn't paid child support and/or alimony in a long time. It's been mentioned that the police in the jurisdiction told people who called that it wasn't true, and even if whoever said that is lying, it never got any mainstream coverage, which seems unlikely since it involved someone who was a regular on WWF TV during the company's peak. 1Wrestling was the original source for the story (Posted 7/23/04 on CRZ's forum so it was from then or at most a few days earlier):- 1998 WrestleMania VHS Releases
Is this the "Collection" catalog set or the "Legacy" retail set from later? I'm not sure if anyone knows whether they cleared the music or not. Given that these were released at such a low price, it seems more like an oversight. Also, I dunno about the Collection set, but the Legacy set (and maybe the Toys 'R' Us exclusive Raw Attitude Vols. 1 & 2 and Wrestlemania XIV & XV Highlights videos) are the worst-made VHS tapes I've ever seen. The tape is ridiculously thin, and thus the picture quality may start below home video par (even for EP mode videos) and develop tracking faults after just one viewing (or even before being watched in the case of the Raw Attitude Vol. 2 that I got from Highspots).- Guest Booker with Jim Cornette
Invasion did something like 750K buys with only DDP and Booker as the real WCW stars.- Best of the Decade
FAVOURITE WORKERS: Finlay, Rey Mysterio, Cassandro, El Hijo del Santo FAVOURITE PROMOTIONS: WWE 2000 & WWE Smackdown '02-'09. AAA '06-'08, CMLL '01-'03, IWRG '00-'01, Arena Coliseo de Monterrey '00-'01, IWAMS '01-'03 FAVOURITE MATCHES: Rock vs Benoit feud (especially the SD broken ribs match), Flair vs Michaels WM, Michaels vs Taker WM, Joe vs Kobashi, lots of Finlay, Navarro vs Dandy, Perro Jr vs Universo 2000, Blue Panther vs Santo series, Shocker vs Santo, Caifanes Rockeros vs Orientales, the IWRG trios match with the farthest tope contest, Hashimoto vs Corino vs Steele vs Knight, KENTA vs Danielson I, Marufuji vs McGuinness, Kobashi/KENTA vs Ohtani/Tanaka, Kobashi/Honda vs Akiyama/Saito, Kobashi/Shiga vs Akiyama/Saito, Morishima/Marufuji vs Kobashi/Honda, Lawler-Funk JAPW, and lots more I'd have to think about. BEST THING ABOUT THIS DECADE: The best stuff was often on free TV. WORST THING ABOUT THIS DECADE: 2 of the Radicals die (one by his own hand after massacring his family), 1 disappears for several years to dodge child support after making up a story about getting shot while stopping an attempted rape, and the other dealt drugs to the first of the dead Radicals and then prostituted his name post-mortem. Not involving death: The end of non-WWE major league wrestling.- What if...
Gabe Sapolsky is also a moron and a racist.- Steve Williams passes away
Put up an obit at CSS. Really awesome wrestler with a pretty unique presence. Loved the DiBiase team, Gordy matches, Freebirds feud, and AJPW stuff. I need to see if I have the Barbarian match from NJPW as I heard it was a lot of fun but never watched it.- What if...
