The Wade Keller Appreciation Thread
In the "He's not wrong but he still comes off badly" section of this thread, Wade uses Tim Russert's death to pimp the vegan alternative lifestyle:

Comments that don't warrant a thread
John, I was asking for details about Undertaker shooting a semi-out of character photo at that point.

WON and F4W merge
No, you can, but you have to take one or the other - or pay extra for both. Yes to everything except for video. Both newsletters still exist separately. The WON is more news/feature driven, while F4W is more humor-driven, though not as much as it used to be.

Downtown Bruno/Harvey Whippleman wrote a book
http://www.1wrestlinglegends.com/crowbarpr...runo/index.html From the excepts, this actually looks really good. He's still with WWE, so I guess that being backstage food gopher doesn't lock you into merchandising with them.

WON and F4W merge
It was said to email Dave about it for WON subs. I'm sure he just gives the numbers to Bryan or Tony so there's not a lot of work for him to do there.

WON and F4W merge
I asked Dave about the conversion ratio if you want to switch your print sub to online. What happens is that that dollar value of your remaining print issues is rounded up to the next $10, and you get that value online sub (online is $10 per month with no discount for longer commitments). As much as I love kicking back with the print WON, this is awfully tempting.

Smoeater? Where you at?
Really? Injuring yourself in stupid hardcore death matches and likely living in pain for the rest of your life is less delusional than simply thinking you won an argument online? Really? Come on, really? Yeah, I have to agree that deciding to get thrown off the roof of a bar is worse.

The Benoit murders 6 months later
It wouldn't surprise me at all that WWE would do such a thing, but it's a weird allegation to make based on what's known publicly (phone calls stop, dogs out - but no drug disposal).

The Benoit murders 6 months later
Weren't there painkillers in the room when the cops got there? I agree Re: destroying steroids and HGH, though. As far as Benoit and WWE sending fixers: I wouldn't put it past them to do it, but speculating that they did based on the available evidence is a bit much.

The Benoit murders 6 months later
Irv Muchnick brings up his unanswered questions, proves he has lost his mind. Specifically: He seems to be implying that WWE sent someone to the house (who let the dogs out of the enclosed pool area in the process of investigating) before calling the cops. While I'm sure that WWE tried to pull as many strings as possible during the investigation, suggesting (without any evidence) that they tampered with a crime scene before contacting police is rather insane. The dog thing is curious (with Muchnick receiving conflicting reports about whether or not the dogs could have escaped on their own), but geez...

So, "Ring of Hell"...
His last shows (other than the one-off in August) were in Florida the first week of May. Then he stopped coming for visa reasons.

Al Snow
Wasn't his quip at UFC what got him the SMW gig, his first during that period as a actual pro wrestler with a gimmick who talked instead of TECHNICAL WORKRATE MARVEL?

So, "Ring of Hell"...
In the first WON after the murders, Dave explained that Benoit (and Nancy) were more like casual accquaintances who would be willing to talk when he was researching stories. He was close with Pillman to the point that after his death someone, possibly Melanie, told him something along the lines of that he may not have realized it, but he was Brian's best friend.

Greatest 24/7 Find?
The PPV version had been floating around a little bit, as Dan had a 1st gen from Scott Betschel (I had it on VHS from my 1st trade w/ Dan 6 years ago), but obviously 24/7 is better for VQ reasons.

WWE 24/7 July-September 2007 Thread
Flair never actually came in for house shows in '82. In '85, his match with Koko Ware did air on the Jackson, TN show.

WWE 24/7 July-September 2007 Thread
No footage of the 9/30/85 match ever aired, either as clips on WMC show (and its edited syndicated counterpart) or the Jackson, TN show that aired full house show matches. Lawler thought that the match was terrible, with Flair relying too heavily on the formula that the fans had seen on cable to a ridiculous degree: He set up the press slam off the top turnbuckle spot with Lawler, who was shorter than the average Flair opponent. Flair grabbed Lawler's arms and pulled them upward to try to make the spot work. Their very good 10 minute match from the studio (I have the Louisville airdate as 8/14/82, which would theoretically make the match date 8/7, but results guru KrisZ says that 8/14 was the live Memphis show date) as part of a long, great angle has been a favorite of tape collectors for the past quarter century. An excellent copy of the 60 minute Louisvile version of the show is floating around on DVD, dubbed 2 generations from Cornette's original on SP VHS before being converted to an SP DVD.

Thoughts on the DVDVR Mid South matches
Andre the Giant & JYD & Mil Mascaras vs. Killer Khan & Gino Hernandez & Tully Blanchard isn't complete, is it?
-
Greatest 24/7 Find?
Complete Starrcade '85 was a holy grail - they did a good job scrambling the CCTV that year so only the edited comm tape was available.
-
Greatest 24/7 Find?
Thesz-Rocca was already around, I believe, and more complete than the 24/7 version (more than just the 1st fall).

So, "Ring of Hell"...
Thanks. They're two of the biggest criticisms of the book (sometimes from those who haven't read it yet, and I suspect the "He was a nice guy" stuff will blow up more after the WON review) so I felt like addressing them.
