ESPN's Grantland
Barring maybe one or two matches before OVW (and he may not have had any), Randy Orton is a 100% WWE product.

What Parv said. I now have a new sig. Thanks!

Honestly you're still way too charitable to it.

WWE Network finally happening
They do have more subscribers in the US than HBO does, though. If they do go with an internet based service, being some pioneering paid tier of an established service is probably their best bet, or negotiating big rights fees as part of the existing services. They'd have no software development costs or anything like that and they'd already be accessible on most streaming devices. Netflix especially is on basically every connected device now and has by far the best software/interface. The big question mark is if they'd keep the plans for including the PPVs.

WWE quirks, linguistic and otherwise
Good question. Probably varies. For example, Chris Hero came up with Kassius Ohno, but it was on a list of names he put together for them and Ohno was one of three they cleared. It was also a much less NXT-ish name than the ones I think you're talking about.

Not really. Dave defends Angle as a HOFer and thinks he was a good choice. Not exactly: He didn't vote for Angle that year. He feels Angle made the case eventually.

God, this appeared way too suddenly on the yearbook.

[1990-01-21-WWF-Royal Rumble] Brutus Beefcake vs The Genius
This is really jarring in the context of the yearbook because it embodies so many of the worst things about WWF wrestling: Hebner taking his trademark untrained bump to the floor where he nearly maims himself catching the ropes, weird non-finishes that would never happen in other promotions (a double DQ finish is called when the ref is still bumped and they never explain why Brutus was DQed even if it sort of makes sense), Briutus Beefcake wrestling, etc.

[1990-01-20-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Junkyard Dog
Lawler was way too much of a chickenshit here for the world champion but this was still a lot of fun and he's amazing at selling his fear. The chain dangling on the turntable is a great moment.

[1990-01-20-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler / Interview: Junkyard Dog
Lawler goes on WAY too long and I'm already worried about his instincts as a heel. JYD promo is solid, definitely a lot better and more serious than his WWF work but probably nowhere near how he was in Md-South.

wrestle war 90
Sting was gonna win the title. So basically what happened at the Bash but without the knee injury drama leading into it.

Current WWE
The last time Raw was in the market before tonight was the night after MITB in July.

Well, they can also do a double title match without actually unifying the titles like they did with the WCW Cruiserweight and WWF Light Heavyweight Titles during the invasion.

It's already amazing but gets elevated even more when you see the floppy disk in Bret's hand.

In addition to the above, these are some of my favorites: Blue Panther vs El Mariachi (Solar I) from AAA in 1994 Solar I & Super Astro vs Blue Panther & Sergio El Hermoso from WWA in 1987 Osamu Nishimura vs Bas Rutten from NJPW in 2002 Clive Myers vs Young David (Davey Boy Smith) from Joint Promotions in 1981

You forgot east Asia. We basically know nothing about Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc other than that Barnett and Rickard both promoted there sometimes, but there's clearly more to it than that

That's what I thought, just wasn't sure. Been a long time since I read it.

I considered pointing that out but since his reply would almost certainly be "They're not in the wrestling business, they're in the sports entertainment business. Just ask them if you don't believe me!" I didn't think there was any reason to tweet it. How about Motoko? Where can I read more about Moolah's "unsavoury" exploits? I had no idea about them, or maybe I did back in the day but I forgot. It sounds horrible. Baba is a good one. Article about Sweet Georgia Brown & her son (this is the one where all of the really bad on the record stuff is): http://www.free-times.com/archives/baby-of...t-georgia-brown Slam Article about Sandy Parker: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2008/0...pf-5009196.html Note that both were part of her "colored girls" troupe and not the "lady wrestlers." A lot of this type of stuff has been backed up by Vivian & Luna Vachon among others. Pretty sure Dave Meltzer verified it to some degree too.

WWE Network finally happening
I'm in Canada, so I have my doubts it would be available right away. I would take the same approach Loss would though. Before you even get to how receptive the cable/satellite companies would be, how involved/difficult/time consuming is the process for CRTC approval?
