"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
To be fair I can see why someone wouldn't enjoy that match.

Ric Flair (sigh)
I was under the impression that while the divorce made a huge dent, especially with him giving Linda such an insane settlement, the Graziano settlement is what put him into the red.

Convoluted contract logic in pro wrestling
Flair was to the consortium as Bischoff was to Fusient Media Ventures. "THE CONSORTIUM WAS ME!" was Flair blowing the line, I think.""

Current WWE
It's a terrible gimmick but even more so a Wrestlecrap idea if they think they can attract Mexicans by using Puerto Ricans doing a Spanish gimmick (though to be fair bullfighting is pretty big in Mexico too). The McMahons and their writers still think that there's a magical group of millions of people called "Latinos" that will support anybody that speaks Spanish. And on top of that they've been given pink recreations of the Aldo Montoya jockstrap mask. On the bright side: Mascarita Dorada is going to be their manager!

Wrestling Observer Recap - 4/15/85
At the time, it was just "The Wrestling Observer." This was the original format on legal size paper with xeroxed photos and articles and whatnot. To fll out subscriptions and streamline communication with tape traders (the original reason for the WON), he started doing the "Wrestling Observer Newsletter" and...yeah.

Who is the modern equivalent of Bulldog Bob Brown?
Jeff was a super worker until he turned heel. He was still mechanically great and purportedly easy to work with, but he never really clicked in any of his heel roles.

The "Confirmed Stories of Triple H Being A Total Douchebag" Thread
After Ric Flair put one of his HOF rings on Reid's finger before they closed the casket and gave the other to David as a way to keep Reid's memory alive, HHH gave a Ric a new HOF ring with Reid's name inscribed on it. WHAT A DOUCHEBAG.

How about Brian Adias then? Nah, local with only one run on top.

Highspots Crockett Documentary
JVK echos a lot of my thoughts on this. Haven't listened to what Dave said yet. It would be a MUCH different documentary without the Crockett brothers being interviewed. It was interesting how different they were: Jim put most of it past him (but it was very weird he pretended his '93-'95 run didn't exist) and felt like the definitive authority, David was still bitter (similar to how he was in WWE's WCW doc) but provided good insight as well, and Jackie was not only not bitter, but had the most well rounded viewpoint since he's clearly the biggest wrestling fan and stuck with WCW through the end. The post-production is far inferior to say, Barbed Wire City, even though so much of BWC was shot old older equipment. I absolutely hated the artificial blur/faux soft focus that was on all of the talking heads (except Valiant for some reason), the blown up low res photos, etc.

Darren Young comes out as gay in TMZ airport interview
Cena has never handled this issue well, even when he should expect it coming. See this Wade Keller editorial, for example. Clearly, he knows he has to say he's cool with homosexuality publicly, but one gets vibes that he's not altogether comfortable with the idea. My point was more that he's usually blatantly coached since I'd expect someone to tell him not to say what he said. I wrote about the Cena homophobia stuff at Cageside, remember?

Darren Young comes out as gay in TMZ airport interview
Clearly some shenanigans going on, but wow: http://www.tmz.com/2013/08/15/darren-young...-superstar-gay/ Cena's thoughts here: http://www.tmz.com/2013/08/15/john-cena-da...ay-support-wwe/ My immediate reaction is that most likely this was set up, as Young as pretty damn unphased. I'm less sure they told anyone, because while Cena's interview starts off well, it veers off to the point he clearly wasn't coached. Saying it's ok as long as he's "conducting himself professionally" and "not sneaking into the locker room" is not exactly what I'd expect from Cena if he knew this was coming. Good for Young, though!
