The financial problems got really bad because he left his child support unupdated after he left WCW. It's unclear why let it get so out of control, and it spiraled from there.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
He means the Bruno blood stoppage finish being done with a heel champ, not the Luger-Flair/Lawler-Kerry finish. Former is the champ being bloodied and losing to set up a rematch but not dropping the title. Latter is a fuck finish screwing the babyface as he's about to win.

WWE acquires the Watts video library
I'm trying to figure out if we should now assume this isn't happening since the Watts site is still up and Micah has done multiple "X% off until Y date where WWE officially buys the library" sales.

Even if it had bombed I don't get how WWE would've lost money on it.

Dylan: Remember, Pre-1950 candidates don't go in via balloting at all anymore, so DeGlane being removed from the ballot doesn't mean he's going in this year.

General thoughts on 1990
One thing I think this set will get across is that there was a ridiculous amount of wrestling on TV in 1990, similar to how we had that discussion about 1986 awhile back. Here in NY, my wrestling viewing schedule was something like this (some times approximate): SATURDAY 7:05 AM NWA Power Hour on Superstation WTBS (Replay of the previous night's show) 9:00 AM NWA Worldwide on WPIX (Later NWA Pro Wrestling NY) 10:00 AM WWF Superstars of Wrestling on WNYW Fox 5 (Moved to 12 PM early in the year) Possibly on somewhere in here: GLOW in its twilight on...WPIX maybe? Rocking' Rollergames was also on after Worldwide I think. 6:05 PM NWA World Championship Wrestling on Superstation WTBS SUNDAY 12:00 PM WWF All-American Wrestling on USA Network 12:00 PM WWF Wrestling Challenge on WNYW Fox 5 (Yup) Floating afternoon time slot: WWF Wrestling Spotlight on the MSG Network. Sometimes 12 PM. Seriously. 6:05 PM NWA Main Event on Superstation WTBS 7:00 PM USWA Challenge on Sportschannel NY 8:00 PM ICW on Sportschannel NY 9:00 PM AWA on Sportschannel NY. May have been replaced by Rob Russen's IWA when they lost the slot...or maybe it was a 4 hour block? I'm fuzzy on this. MONDAY: 4:00 PM AWA on ESPN 7:00 PM UWF on Sportschannel America 9:00 PM WWF Prime Time Wrestling on USA Network 10:00 PM IWA I think later replaced by LPWA on Sportschannel America TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: 4:00 PM USWA Legends of Wrestling on ESPN (Caught me up on the last 2+ years) I'm probably forgetting one or two shows. And all of it was either cable or a nationally syndicated show. There were probably markets that got most of this and a lot more, especially if they had America One type channels. Local/regional shows like USWA Championship Wrestling, USWA Championship Sports, NAWA/SAPW, Five Star, Georgia All-Star Wrestling, Gary Hart's TWF, Tim Brooks' NAWA/Supersonic Texas Wrestling, Windy City, ChicagoCW, etc, plus other syndicated shows like whichever main WCW show we didn't get, the syndicated version WCW Main Event, USWA Main Event, cable shows like EMLL on Galavision, whatever was on FNN/Score in its dying days, MSG & SNME specials... (Cue post from KrisZ about what was on in Atlanta at the time, especially on Pedicino's block)

Sweeps periods are not for cable shows. Just broadcast, and even then it's for the local stations and not the networks.

So...does Gawker getting a DVD of the Hogan sex tape and posting clips along with a written PBP of the whole thing warrant a thread? (Not safe for...anyone really, but especially work) http://gawker.com/5948770/even-for-a-minut...watch-it-anyway

For the short period of time he was just Skip Shepfield, wasn't his finisher the mighty clothesline? Yes.

Who published "Championship Wrestling"? I've never seen it before. Was it one of Starlog's mags?

That commentary may sum up how much of a joyless sack of shit Lance Storm is even more than his Q&A posts.

Pro Wrestling Heroes & Icons (Spoilers if you care)
Are you sure they weren't babyface matches? The Hogan-DiBiase match was March 12th, but the Bees continued working as faces for months, so presumably they were "fake Bees." The Stallions matches were in August.

I wonder if Russo watched the Florida shows that aired in NY when he was a kid. Because Vince Sr. & Eddie Graham were so close, they worked out a deal where WNJU (a Spanish channel on UHF that had a very strong signal), would air CWF TV in English with the local WWF MSG promos in the slot where the local Florida promos would be. It was popular enough that Dusty Rhodes was already super over when he came into the territory. Anyway, Florida TV had much better in-ring wrestling, even in squashes, was, while not anything like Memphis, still much more of a constantly moving territory. Did Russo watch it? Did he like it more than the WWWF? Did he appreciate the better in-ring wrestling? Did the more regularly occurring angles appeal to him? Probably doesn't make a huge difference because WWWF was still the home territory, just something that this discussion has made me wonder about. But either way, yes, Loss is right, this completely explains Russo's mindset about wrestling. He was watching the biggest and best city's wrestling in what was legitimately the most successful promotion in the country. "The in-ring wrestling sucks, but the interviews and occasional (as in one every few months at the most) angles are awesome. Thus, if this is the biggest and best, clearly the way to improve pro wrestling is to cut down on the amount of in-ring wrestling and dramatically increase the frequency of angles."

Actually, I should've read that quote closer. http://wrestlechat.net/jerry-lawler-to-und...ery-98-blocked/ There's only one story at WMC. http://www.wmctv.com/story/19507908/jerry-...om-heart-attack That's the only information on WMC's site that we didn't know last night, so unless WMC posted and deleted it, then no, it's not legit. - Ring of Honor Wrestling
