  1. "ALL HELL HAS BROKEN LOOSE AT UNCENSORED, AND HELL BROUGHT WITH HIM A BASEBALL BAT!" God bless Dusty Rhodes, and what a great angle. Was the show running long with how quick Tony cut away as Sting and Hogan finished? I remember thinking it was strange that they had Sting and Luger hug after the show went off the air instead of making it a big moment on the PPV or Nitro.
  2. Yeah, I loved that this too. The Undertaker becoming a generic "Criminal Minds" unsub is a pretty great gimmick.
  3. Yup. He's been sticking to Twitter and Facebook.
  4. I'm probably a much bigger Don Callis fan than most, but... what That was Don Callis in the WWF. He managed the Truth Commission in the WWF. what Yeah, I agree.
  5. No, Savage won. It was a weird JCP/WCW stip where the TV Title could be on the line in a match with a time limit longer than 15 minutes, but the title would only be on the line during the first 15 minutes.

David A. Meltzer in a number of Observer features and message board posts.
  7. Lance Storm is awful.

One important piece of the puzzle that gets forgotten is that after the buyrates for the first $30 In Your House shows came in, Vince (truthfully) told Bret that the financial issues had cleared up. Then, when Bret begged Vince to convince him to stay, Vince threw out a bunch of clearly deliberately lame program ideas for after he lost the belt to Shawn that seemed designed to get him to take the WCW deal.

Bret felt it was a bad idea to change the PPV match itself after the buildup.

  12. Not you necessarily, but I always think people who downplay this do so because they can't possibly believe anyone in Japan learned anything from a promotion that had Jerry Lawler as the top star. Also, the non-martial artist main events early on (like the tag with Murdoch and LeDuc, and while I've never seen it, that pimped 1990 tag with Sakurada has always been described as a Memphis-style arena brawl) are pretty clearly influenced by the Memphis brawling style. As late as 1992 the FMW parts of the Los Angeles trios match are pretty Memphis-y.

Again: BRET. WAS. STILL. UNDER. CONTRACT. FOR. ANOTHER. MONTH. FOR. FUCK'S. SAKE.
  14. Being groomed as a heel as part of a new program where all PBP guys must be able to take after Cole?

  17. That would be Tony Atlas. I think. It was both of them. Reed came in briefly as part of the Simmons feud.
  18. Barnett also had success promoting multiple territories over the years.

  20. Ellering cheating by not doing the exercise right is a little weird.
  21. "PAC MAN FEVER! YEAH!"
  22. I meant more in terms of mainstream coverage of FF/Rogan. I know what happened on TUF.
  23. I'll leave it you guys to tell me I am wrong given the recent changes in the healthcare system etc. But I took from what Dave said about the Yahoo role was that it was largely taken for all benefits it offered which he didnt have as a "dirtsheet" writer rather than strictly money. As far as the Affordable Health Care for America Act goes, prices won't go down 'til at least 2014, which is when the health insurances exchanges are set up.
  24. I dunno, does The Undertaker's wig deserve its own thread?
