Nakamura vs Anderson Nakamura shoots him. Nakamura works hoids with Anderson. Some rope running. Irish whips on the floor. Anderson starts to focus on Nakamura's neck. We get a lot of this. Overall, another solid bout. 3*

Okada vs Elgin Elgin establishing his strength early. Okada working the neck. I hate Elgin's flip leg drop. This was a very paint by the numbers match. 2 3/4*

Honmma vs Nagata This was a good match. Honmma working underneath early is a good choice. He makes a comeback of this is good as well. Nagata cuts him off. We have a fun little finish. Overall, a fun bout. 3 1/2*

Takahashi vs Goto Goto on the arm. This is an early feeling out process. Takahashi is one of the worst wrestlers on the roster, but he gave a real good effort here. 2 3/4*

Ishii vs Kojima I think I like Kojima more than most and think he's capable of good matches. Lock up right into a strike exchange. Pretty much the story of the match is let's hit each other. We got some ring side brawling. It was the match you were expecting, 3 1/4*

Looking at Chad's report of the undercard I'll move on to the G1 proper tournament.

Lane is also billed as a Funk cousin so he has that rub going for him.

Lane was the guy we hated on the Armarillo footage we watched. FYI

The whole NXT invades Texas thing is interesting. That afternoon the news breaks that NXT is running Texas the same week ROH is running a back to back shows in San Antonio. That morning before the news broke I ordered Wills and mine tickets to Friday and Saturdays ROH shows in San Antonio. If we knew this was happening we would have gotten tickets to the Friday ppv of ROH, and Saturday's NXT show. Oh well. I'm sure both ROH shows will deliver and we'll be getting 2 AJ Styles matches so you can't go wrong.

Kerry Von Erich is one of Kamala's greatest opponents. Kerry going for the claw. Kerry uses his speed to delivers a big drop kick. Kamala takes a a bump off a missed chop. This has been a total sprint. Kerry takes a bump into the ring post. Kamala goes for a bear hug. It looks like Mark Curtis(Brian Hilldebrand) taking photos. Kamala's work on top has been pedestrian. Kerry. Gino in to screw Kerry. 2 1/4*

This is a bout not ever been seen. It's 2 out of 3 falls and is historic because the AJPW tag belts are defended in H-Town. We're getting a serious feeling out process. Terry putting over Putski's strength. Wahoo lighting up Dory, Putski working a bear hug on Dory. Putski has a trickle of blood. Nice butterfly suplex by Wahoo. The Funks steal the 1st fall with a big cheat by Terry, Both Funks work over Wahoo. Spinning toe hold. Each brother took their trurns. Wahoo is playing FIP. Wahoo turns the tide and scores with an Oklahoma roll. Putski and Terry are having an awesome brawl. It settles down Terry has Putski in a sleeper.Wahoo and Putski win b y DQ. This match didn't do anything for me. I thought it was too methodical. I'm still glad it became available though. 2*

Per Dylan One thing I will say is that I am a bit surprised Parv was so high on the Inoki match only because some of the grappling he seemed to like in it, struck me as something he would dislike coming out of shootstyle (not that it was really shootstyle grappling per se, but some of the escapes, position, strategic approach, et. felt more akin to that than traditional pro-style grappling). Not making a charge of inconsistency, I just find it a bit curious that someone could go full five on one match, and be largely dismissive of the other style if I remember correctly. I'd like to see Parv expand on this too. Since Robinson is a guy who gets credit for that style. Is it easier for Parv to digest it if it isn't labeled as shoot style?

Rock n Roll Express vs Dirty White Boys 3/22/85 I believe this is a new one too.This is the Express putting over a new team in the territory to give them credibility. Wins and losses mattered here. This is really basic, but psychology is priority. We get a real quick shine sequence. The DWB's cut Morton off and goes to town on his back. The DWB's heat segment was well worked and built to the finish. The teams maximized on the time that they got. 3 1/4*

Dick Slater vs Jake Roberts 1/31/86 DDT is legal This is a new bout as well. Some of this card had been aired elsewhere. This was a really great bout. We start with some brawling. Slater plasters Jake with a chair. Slater does some real good work on Jake's neck. Slater busts Jake on a post and goes to town on his cut. Jake really is great at gaining sympathy from the crowd. Jake wants revenge and gives Slater a chair shot. Jake works the neck. Slater piledrives Jake. Now their is a lot of chaos in the ring and bam out of nowhere Jake drops Slater with the DDT. Hell of a match, and the finish was perfect. 4*

Everett v. Case This is a really good match. Case clips the leg to set up the heat. Everett's selling here is about as good as it gets. Case stays on the leg. I liked some of the hope spots. I even liked it better when the hope spots fail. I like how Everett had to resort to a punch based offense. The super punch by Case looked so stiff. A couple of minor complaints. I would have liked to have seen a nice opening shine segment for Everett. The leg work was so focused and Everett had sold his leg as good as anyone could have. He smoked Ibushi and Kushida in that regard. It felt a submission should have been the finish or his leg collapsed under his weight. Still this was good stuff. 3 3/4*

Tony Atlas & Junkyard Dog vs. The Dynamic Duo 10/8/82 This falls into the fun file. I liked Gino's shoe shine stuff pre match. The best part of the match was when the heels were bumping and stooging around. We got a double FIP section with neither face excelling in. The Dynamic Duo came across as a top heel team. Still the crowd was hot for all of this. 2 1/2*

Tom Prichard vs. Tim Horner 4/19/85 This never aired in Houston, but I think aired in highlight form in Continental. This was a solid no frills affair. The best part of the match was the handshaky deal.
