Titans of Wrestling #3
Chad glad you liked it. I so want you to watch the 30 minute Andre tag and throw some thoughts out there. I think I came across too negative of the match. It was just so long, and should have been booked for 8 minutes. Their are some cool aspects of the match. Though when you get 30 minutes you should be able to come up with some good stuff.

Plus Johnny busts out more dated references than a shit faced Bobby Heenan on a bad Nitro. The difference is Johnny's are lol funny.

Wrestling With The Past #1
About 1/2 way through and I'm loving it. The Waltman/ Lynn segway was great . It's like how they aren't in the AWA is nuts.

Rick Martel
I always thought when Steamboat left in 87-88 I thought Martel easily could have slid into his spot on the card.
-
Rick Martel
Also I don't think you'll find that Martel as a heel match carrying an opponent like baby face Martel does with Zuchov. The WWF Martel work you cite are all against good wrestlers. Though to be fair . Baby face Martel would never have been given the opportunity in the WWF like he got in the AWA because his mike skills were lacking.

Rick Martel
His Strike Force stuff was really good. WE did say his Tito matches were good. Though to say his heel work was on par with his earlier babyface work is crazy. Yes he did have good matches. We used the Jake match as a really entertaining one, I also said I liked his matches with Martel. I even said it was tad unfair to compare the 2 because I thought Martel on the AWA set compared well to Steamboat, and Morton as a babyface worker. As in he was one of the best babyface workers of the 80's good.

The Steve Austin Show
I loved the fact in the Flair one that Flair addressed the fact that his name was misspelled at the Steamboat Clash match.

Jerryvonkramer's Cheesy Journey
Chris Taylor was a big guy who Verne broke in. He was an amateur wrestler I believe or weight lifter. He didn't pan out and I believe died young.

There is part of a Bock title defense against Jim Brunzell on one of Cornette's garbage film discs, FWIW. I wouldn't be surprised if the date of the match was Oct. 14th in 1979.Or in that range .In the Crockett book they have a poster for the match with that date. Just an FYI.

Looking through some of the Crockett book I was pretty surprised that Bock would come in and defend the AWA title on occasion. Seeing Brunzell work the territory kinda surprised me also. KHawk any background info. This was happening in 1978.

Where the Big Boys Play #47
Wrestling 2 got jealous of the attention that Magnum was getting. Then Wrestling 2 went heel. Wrestling 2 walked out on Magnum in a match against the MX where the losing team would receive 10 lashes with a leather strap. Terry Taylor came out to take some of the lashes for Magnum so he wouldn't have to take all 10.

I listened to this on my way back from a road trip. Gotta say you guys did a good job digging into this. I agree with the rating you gave the doc Soup. The Mid-South tag team you guys were thinking about was Magnum TA/Wrestling 2. The whole Bob Caudle thing was kinda ironic. About 3 minutes after the doc ended we got Caudle shilling the kickstarter for this doc. So his lack of inclusion is kinda odd. Parv Dusty was gone by 89 so he wasn't at fault at derailing Sting. Now Dusty did Sting no favors in 88 after the Clash 1 draw with Flair. He had no real opponents lined up for the Stinger in 88. The whole accountant thing was interesting. It's been a big talking point for years from the wrestlers about the downfall for years. I'm glad it was covered. The extras on this are pretty cool. Since Parv doesn't want the doc spoiled I kept my thoughts pretty vague.

Where the Big Boys Play #47
Looking forward to hearing this. On the older mentor /younger talent tag team is something that hurts this generation of talent. In 2012 at Comic Con CM Punk did a panel. The question I posed to him was the lack of tag teams and the pushing of tag teams I thought was hurting the development of younger talent and developing stars. I used the Steamboat/Douglas vs. Austin/ Pillman feud as Douglas learning from Steamboat along with Pillman and a guy who developed into one of the biggest stars. His response for the most part was that tag team wrestling was an attraction back in the day . He went on to say how AJ learned a lot from watching him from the apron. He said some more stuff and eventually agreed with my point about young talent not having the opportunity to learn from veterans like back in the day.

Titans of Wrestling #1
With the Backlund / Valentine draw the 1st time I saw it years ago I had it at 3 3/4*. Through repeat viewings during the years I actually like it more each viewing and have it in the 4 1/2* range.

The book is a nice companion piece to the doc. I like looking at all the old posters, and seeing the cards and who is wrestling who . Plus some of the newspaper clippings are neat as well. I hope they do another one.

Titans of Wrestling #2
Thanks Soup. It was my 2nd. I did an AWA one a few months back with Will and Johnny. I don't know many people that I can talk about wrestling I like so I had a real fun time doing it.

I got mine today and I pretty much echo what JVK, and Bix say. Still the good far outweigh the bad and this is an easy must have. Though I was shocked that the Spoiler wasn't mentioned at all in the doc. On the extra sections their are some great quotes. Paul Jones discussing the Steamboat angle as a shoot. Jones saying the reason people thought he was a bad manager was because they still wanted to see him wrestle. My favorite Jones comment was Dory Jr. was his 1st wrestler he managed, and he was falling asleep on the apron watching Dory. Don Kernodle claiming they turned 20,000 away at the Final Conflict is absurd.

Highspots Crockett Documentary
It's offered at Highspots. I ordered it. It kinda sounds like a scrapbook with results, posters, etc in it. Theirs also one that Mooneyham just did over at crowbar press which I hear are reprints of old articles he's done along with interviews.
