[1991-05-04-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Eric Embry
With Lawler out Embry is really out front and center. I believe the crowds start to respond to this by the attendance going down.

[1991-05-11-RINGS] Akira Maeda vs Dick Vrij
Compared to the Tamura match this really has specific roles in the match. Having the face/heel dynamic really added to the match. Vrij showed a lot of charisma. Though he looked sloppy at times, but it seemed Maeda covered well for him. It wasn't glaring though. I popped huge for Vrij combination leg, head kick. Overall another match that drew me in.

[1991-05-10-UWFi-Moving On 1] Kiyoshi Tamura vs Masahito Kakihara
This was a good bout with some neat work on the ground. A highlight for me in this bout was when Tamura was in the mount position . Kakihara exposed his ribs to Tamura, and Tamura just beat on the area with strikes. Man that looked nasty. These guys have to have some serious cardio to work this style .

[1991-05-06-NJPW-Dream Win III] Jushin Liger vs Hiroshi Hase
This was great. The 1st 10 minutes or so we get some really great work on the mat. It had a real 70's style feel to it with more modern stuff mixed in. Then the match morphs into both guys just working over each others arms. Hase in particular was really nasty. It had a real Anderson/Garvin quality to it. A little later Liger busts out some flashy offense. Though he stops and goes back to attacking the arm. I popped big for that. Hase does a cool leverage spot that takes Liger to the outside. Hase posts Liger on the outside. Hase starts working over Liger's back which really gives a sense of urgency. We start building to a hot finish with Liger's high flying offense versus Hase's suplex. Just great stuff.

[1991-05-06-FMW] Atsushi Onita vs Mr Pogo (Exploding Barbed Wire Death)
For the most part the work was non existent. I was expecting a wild brawl culminating with someone getting knocked into the exploding barb wire. Nope we had guys holding on for dear life to not get thrown off. The explosions were pretty impressive.

[1991-05-04-WWF-Superstars] Irwin R. Schyster vignette
These skits are amusing . Since the WWF is aimed at kids I don't really see the purpose of this character to the kids, or in a money drawing character. Too bad we couldn't see him go after Hogan for tax evasion.

[1991-05-03-USWA Texas] Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller vs Steve Austin & Tom Prichard (Tennessee Street Fight)
I watched this one a few times because I wasn't sure how I felt. My end conclusion is that I did like it a lot, and everybody looked really good in it. The lack of chaos is what bothered me at 1st, but I got over it. I still like the Lawler/Embry cage and a few others above this, but this bout is in the mix for best of USWA/TX.
