Initial Draft Discussion
I hear you, toprope. I think it's time I started snapping up M-Pro mainstays... but there are some tempting alternatives still out there. UWFi '95 (elliot version) is gonna be stiffer than '93 All Japan. Regal just fits right in with that roster.

The WWF... (what do you want to do)
The Pearl River Powerhouse! Very interesting choice. I've always felt that his career was killed by Too Much Too Soon syndrome. Maybe if he gets brought along more slowly, his career could turn out much differently.

The WWF... (what do you want to do)
I think Jesse should be allowed to keep Tito Santana as a bonus for stepping up Also, another bonus for him taking over the WWF is the opportunity for us to yell "Gimme a break, Jess!" whenever he comes up with something crazy.

I thought about making a heel trios team with them and Ohtani. It was too good to resist. I almost took Tajiri in that spot... but that would totally be one of those choices that involves knowing what happened after 1995... Although Tajiri did debut with M-Pro in '94, according to Wikipedia. Dr. Death in elliot's All-Brawlers re-imagining of UWFi is even better. Williams, Takayama, Hash, and Vader. Yikes!

The Initial Draft!
Since there are two US Indies ahead of me, I guess I'll go ahead and submit my pick for the 6th and 7th rounds: The World Class Tag Team, Fuyuki-Gun members Jado and Gedo

It's actually pretty funny that anyone would burn anyone over picking Steve Austin or Stan Hansen. I mean, I see the points on bth sides, but: Regardless of where they were at in 1995, those are two of the greatest brawlers of all time and two of the most successful pro wrestlers ever. Pretty hard to see either of them as a wasted pick.

I'd wanna see Hansen vs. Tenryu in AJPW in '95! Also: Madusa!! Whoa! Most shocking pick of the draft so far, IMHO. If the plan is to build a real women's division in WCW: Nice one! I love it.

I wonder if putting him in a tag team might help delay the onset of his lumbago, or at least slow it down. You should be able to get at least 5 more decent years out of him if you use him right.

Yeah great match.. and really a nice heel to build around until you form Kaientai. Absolutely! He also opens up the possibility of headlining shows with single matches that won't be totally upstaged by the 6-man semi-main event. On September 25th, 1995 Sasuke won the British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight Championship. I'm hoping I can use that in my version of M-Pro. Sasuke vs. Ohtani for the strap is pure Fire Pro Fantasy Booking for me. Technically, Ohtani was also British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight Champion in '97, as that belt was one of eight comprising the J-Crown.

Ohtani is coming to the North-East.I am very excited about the match-ups this will allow me to make. I was inspired to make this choice when re-watching the '94 Jr. Tag League Finals: Great Sasuke & Black Tiger vs Wild Pegasus & Shinjiro Ohtani. Love that match, love this pick.

With our third-round pick, Michinoku Pro is pleased to select: Shinjiro Ohtani!

I like the idea of Tenryu returning to AJPW in the mid-90s. So many match-ups!

The Initial Draft!
Sasuke, flanked by Naniwa and Delfin, approach the commissioners' table. All three men are wearing suits, ties, and masks. Somberly, they unzip their trousers and pull out their genitalia. Sasuke points at his flaccid member. Commissioner Apter looks dumbfounded. He looks to his left, Commissioner Meltzer responds with a baffled look and a shrug. He looks to his right. Commissioner Heenan is sporting a cocky grin. He leans over and whispers into Commissioner Apter's ear. Apter makes the announcement: With their first pick of the 2016 1995 draft, Michinoku Pro Wrestling selects:Dick Togo

You could argue that it's another one of those "hindsight" things, but we do know that Eddie can work like a Heavyweight.

It's kind of a weird one in that he would have definitely been considered a Jr. type wrestler in '95 and the rest of your roster would all be considered hard-hitting heavyweights... but Eddie vs. Misawa/Black Tiger vs. TM2 is totally one of those Fire Pro match-ups that I play all the time. There are quite a few interesting things you could do with him in AJPW. But, I'd still rather not have seen it go that way. It is gonna flat out suck for me if almost everyone else in Japan goes all-in on Jr. Heavyweights, since M-Pro's roster needs to be stocked with smaller faster guys.

Hyperthetical: you find Vince's personal diary dating back to 1983
I was also going to point out the man-crush thing. Vince used to gush so hard over Shawn on commentary. I wonder if Linda ever got jealous I just wanted to say that there is some really nice synergy between Petey's comment here and his avatar.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Great picks all around in round 1!

I'm just hoping I can get enough little fast skillful guys on the M-Pro roster to run an epic ten-man tag match on the Anniversary Show.

The Project's General Discussion
THAT BEING SAID... Osaka Pro used to have lots of fun with having one legit shooter (Pancrase veteran/Fujiwara trainee Takaku Fuke) and a couple of Joshi stars (Kyusai Nina Ranmaru and Apple Miyuki) as semi-regular participants in their comedy 6-man matches. One sure-fire gag was to have Fuke try to lure Apple into his guard. Sheer hilarity! It might be worthwhile for me to cherry pick a couple of shoot style and/or joshi workers who might fit a similar role.
